To me, the trick with the Washburn is to roll off the treble quite a bit (unless your using a fairly dark 'bucker sound). The Contour sounds much better maxed out too. Gain can be ramped as well. It's not a really versatile pedal, but it does dial in a tone that doesn't mush out your low end or mangle licks into a heap o' bees. For the price, it really is a 100% usable pedal. Too many distortions assume you'll never want any articulation when chording. The Washburn is A-Okay by me.
I bought this pedal for about $25 on eBay. It has a tendency to buzz a little when on but not in use. You can't hear the buzz when you play through it. It gives a nice hard crunch and you can get those buttery high notes with great sustain, too. One of my buddies who is more advanced than I said he likes it, too.
Yeah this pedal is very good for heavy metal, but it is more old school crunch than modern metal. It reminds me of old Iron Maiden or Judas Priest guitar tone from early 80's. It's maybe not a good pedal for Korn riffs. But it's a good pedal. Good for hard rock too. Maybe perfect for that like queensryche
@roscoe1rule I have sold this pedal!!!Sound good-but-is better to buy Boss metal zone or Digitech metal master or Electro Harmonix Metal Muff!!!They it is better!!!Thanks for a question!!!Good Luck!!!
