I just watched this through again and I'd forgotten the other disturbing things in this 'comedy' routine. How the artist is hit around by his 'wife' in front of the kids and how they discuss fairly complex adult concepts with the children.

You guys seem to have missed how this show works. The two little kids were told from the beginning that it was all fake. They were told that they had to "act" like police officers - thus the girl saying to the criminal, "When the acting is done you will be released." One can argue whether or not they were right to keep joke going once the girl became scared, but there is nothing wrong with the premise of the show itself.
