  • Nice!!

  • @cilversky99 Thank you, it's nice to see people still enjoy my older videos like this one, too!

  • show!

  • @jotah2008 What do you mean "show", what do you want me to show?

  • @Partyburner show is an expression here in Brazil. wonderful kind ... rs

  • @jotah2008 I see. Glad you like it! :)

  • i love this tag! im pretty sure our arrangements are the same, but, the bass doesn't come in as early on the star at the end

  • @missbarbershopper Yes, it's a nice tag, indeed! I used the arrangement from barbershoptags. com. In it, the final bass note starts with the word "star". But in addition, I sang a sub bass note as a 5th voice two octaves below the bass, which fades in during the "star". Maybe that's what is confusing you.

Unfortunately, the "star" is heavily distorted in this YouTube video. Check out the version I uploaded on Facebook (the link is in the video info text of this video) for much higher quality.

  • sweet, i think i actually heard the 5th voice in this one with my good head phones on XD

  • @tommy6564 Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

  • Very nie indeed !! thanks for posting.

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Thank you for your nice comment! More videos are in work!

  • Thumbs up! Very good. Love to watch these! Thanks !

  • @awreslr2 I'm glad you like it! There is more in work---stay tuned!

  • why does this sound like that tube and berger thing you did? I like it. :)

  • @ChrisisBass13 Thanks, I'm glad you still enjoy this old recording from me. Concerning the similarity with the Tube & Berger Jingle: It's all explained in the description of that video.

  • wow, sick undertones at the end.

  • @black72vette Thanks, I'm glad you like it! But actually I was singing that A1 on the final chord, so it's not really an undertone. It's more of a sub bass note two octaves below the final note of the bass.

  • Neat!

  • @gidivet Thank you!

  • Oh sorry, I didn't know; this is the first video of yours I've watched.

  • Ok this was pretty awesome, I just have one thing to say though (and people may disagree with me) but I though your vowel in "reach" was a tad strange, maybe just a SMALL bit too closed?

  • @greenday61892 Thanks!

I guess I know what you mean about singing it a tiny bit too closed. I concentrated on not loosing the lower frequencies, because this happens easily when singing a bright vowel. Maybe I made it a little bit too dark, that way. But please also keep in mind, that English is not my native language. So maybe I'm just not pronouncing it the right way.

  • Undertones anyone?! I think so :)

  • @decky1990 Actually, I sung that A1 in the final chord :)!

  • @Partyburner So does that mean there are five voices in the final chord?

  • @decky1990 Yes. There is no video for the fifth voice, though. I recorded that note one morning, when I was sick, since only with my cold I was able to hit that low note. You wouldn't want to see me like that, anyway :).

  • Great

    Keep going with it.

    trevororrell

  • @trevororrell Thank you, I will!

  • This is so awesome! xD

  • @oONewEraWrestlingOo Thanks! It's much appreciated!

  • very nice

  • @macarape Thank you!

  • very nice! great video

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

  • how can you make multi track videos. what application you used?

  • For the audio you can start with the free software Audacity. With it, you start with recording the first track. Then you record the other tracks successively while listening to the already recorded tracks via head phones.

For the video you just keep a camera recording while you sing a track. Afterwards, you export the mixed audio from Audacity, import it to your video editing software and shift the videos and the audio track until they are in sync.

  • You can find a how-to for doing the split screen setup with Windows Movie Maker in the YouTube group bbsmultitracks from YouTube user wolverineks.

  • well fella you create a huge undertone thats class made my speakers vibrate!!!

  • Thanks, but I actually sung that A1 (see video description). So it's not really an undertone but more of a sub bass note two octaves below the bass on the final chord.

  • In the end, the bass descends one octave down, isn't it? It's really down.. Oo

  • In fact, it's two octaves :). I first recorded the tag as written with the bass singing an A3 on the final chord. And then one morning were I was ill, I was able to hit an A1. I recorded it (without video) and added it to the final chord (see the video description). That chord spans over 3 octaves, from A1 to A4, now.

Unfotunatelly, YouTube distorted that chord very much. I recommend you to listen to my version of the tag on Facebook (see the video info), since it sounds much better there.

  • @Partyburner O.O It's really really down, unbelievable ! My vocal range is only D3 - D6 (after the F5, i use my head voice)

  • Thanks :)! I guess you mean D2 (the D below the 1st ledger line under the bass clef) to D5 (the D above the high tenor C, above the 2nd ledger line on top of the octave treble clef), don't you?

D3 would be pretty high for a lowest note. And D6 is extremely high: It's the D above the high soprano C.

And I guess it's the F4 on which you switch to head voice. I'm more comfortable for that note in head voice, too. But on this tag, I screamed it out in full voice.

  • Yes, i made a mistake, you're right x)

    It's D2 - D5 and F4 =)

But you're bass voice is very clean and sound perfectly, good job ;)

  • Nice compare to me ;)

    Thx for your tips =)

  • Thank you! And you're welcome! Your recordings sound promosing, too. Just fix the little things I mentioned and add video and I think you'll have more hits and subscribers, soon.

  • nice OnE!!! HAHHAHAH

  • Thanks!

  • you have nice voice!!!! really nice... ^^,

  • o my gosh i just heard the fattest undertone ever at :21 i thought there was something wrong with my headphones im sorry i never noticed it haha

  • Thanks, but are you aware that I actually sung that A1 as a fifth voice (as I wrote in the description)? So it's not really an undertone in a harmonic sense, but more of a sub bass note two octaves below that last bass note.

BTW: YouTube totally ruined the quality of that last note and I would recommend you to listen to the version on my Facebook account to hear the A1 much more clearly (see description).

  • then kudos to your incredible range

  • Nice tag! but not correct to call the song belgian or attribute it to Brel. It was written by New Yorkers Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion. Brel acted in a french version but he did not compose or translate it himself. Brel was born in Belgium but was a citizen of France

  • Thanks for the hint - I adapted the description, accordingly. And I'm glad you like my tag!

  • Sounds good. I have learned that by opening my mouth more and smiling, I get fuller sound with better resonance.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

The problem with smiling is that it often only boosts the higher middle frequencies and attenuates the lowest and the highest ones - hence leading to a sound more appropriate for talking rather than singing. AFAIK that happens, because it can ruin the lifting of the palate and let's you tend to put your larynx in a higher position, which is undesirable.

But I guess I could open my mouth a little more. It's difficult on an "ee vowel", though.

    Thanks for the input!

  • i've noticed on your tags you don't pronounce the consonants very well. might want to work on that :)

  • Yes, I know - I could have pronounced them a little clearer. But it's not only my fault - YouTube worsened the quality considerably - especially in the HQ version. Please listen to it in standard quality, which sounds better in this case (especially the end).

  • o.O That was completely awesome. Fancy doing the whole song? =P

  • Thanks! I'm not going to sing this song, but I'm working on multiple other full songs at the moment - stay tuned!

  • great job!

  • Thank you - I'm glad you enjoy it.

  • nice i did this but im afraid to put it up haha

  • Don't be so shy! Even if it's not that good people you can still get constructive criticism. And maybe it's better than you think.

  • hmmm good point well see =]

  • If I were to suggest anything it would be more consonants. For example, I don't hear a "ch" at the end of "reach." But other than that you have a beautiful, full sound.

  • Thanks! Yes, emphasizing the consonants is difficult for me. When I try to articulate them more, I tend to close my throat and worsen my vowels. It feels like consonants are in the way of singing. They are important for understanding the lyrics, but the vowels make the singing.

And BTW: The "ch" in reach is still clearly audible. I just did a short pause between "rea" and "ch", because I thought it was a nice effect.

  • I don't know if I have commented on this already, but then again I don't care.. I really like your bass voice man!! You have a perfect pitch in this tag man... really beautiful! It almost sounds as if an organ played a A1 on that last chord :) Jacques Brel was the man and you did a great salute to him! loved it!

  • Thanks a lot - I appreciate it!

I guess that "organ like sound" on the A1 comes from the EQing. I boosted the fundamental frequency of the tone (A1 = 55 Hz) by about 5 dB, because otherwise it lacked any power. But I managed to hit the note! :)

  • Vielen Dank!

  • I was listening to this and I though, this is good, then the bass rumbled at the end and boy did my jaw drop! good job

  • I'm glad you enjoy it. I had to be sick and tired to hit that note, but somehow I managed.

  • That was beautiful! :)

  • I'm glad you like it!

  • God that is so cool, I wish I was a bass sometimes, I have to stick with my girly voice I suppose lol, that is still so awesome!

  • Thank you! I wish I was a tenor!

I think low notes are just something you have or you don't have, but you can't do much about it. But for being able to hit high notes without screaming or using falsetto you need real skill.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha, thanks - the last chord spans over three octaves from A1 to A4 plus probably many more via overtones :).

About the pronunciation: Yes, I know - it is difficult for me to have good sound with voluminous vowels and good pronunciation at the same time.

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, that'll teach me not to read video info... I didn't realise you added in that A1 yourself... Still, that's a well-sung tag!

  • And aren't you glad he didn't substitute "star" with "dream" ?? haha

  • Yeah.... and I listened to that one just a little while ago, and found I could barely make out the last word anyway! The "dr" in "dream" is very muffled/rushed!

  • @Matt: Yes, I sang the A1, so it is not an "undertone" in a harmonic sense. But I am glad you like my tag!

And BTW: You left a total mess here - there are now answers to your comments which you deleted afterwards :).

  • I felt like a twat for not reading your description first and leaving such a n00bish comment - I had to delete it! I still like the operatic German opera bass voice, though :p

  • My "operatic German opera bass voice", LOL - thanks! I am taking classical vocal lessons for about three years, now. But I did not realize I sound that classical.

And I am a baritone, but I can hit very low notes. They sound weak and quiet and I could not sing them on a stage. But with electronic amplification and some EQing I can use them for funny stuff like multitrack recordings with sub bass notes :).

  • fantastic! 5*

    Keep them coming!

  • Wow, thanks a lot!

  • RINGS!!!

  • Yeah, I was hoping someone would notice :).

  • Where did the A1 come from at the end? That sounded very nice.

  • @rramos07: Thanks, I appreciate it! There is no video to it. You would not want to see me so dozy and bleary-eyed ;). I just recorded it one morning and added it as a fifth track to the final chord. Unfortunately YouTube ruined the sound quality at the end (it sounds like clipping to me) especially in the high quality version. The A1 sounds much better in standard quality, IMO.

  • Yes, it does ring. Go, D Q, go!

The world will be better for this. :-)

  • Who is D Q?

  • Don Quixote on his determined quest...

  • Ah, I see. Maybe I should listen to the songs I sing the tags from ...

  • Deftly quoth. ;-)

I like your tag. Thanks for uploading.

  • I am glad you like it!
