I has already begun years ago i watched a program not long ago . In lab they are making artificial red and white blood cells made from nanobots and they claim it will replace immunisation in all people by 2014. The red cells will be able to hold up 36 times more oxygen than normal red cells . Imagine taking only 1 breath for a 30 minute dive !And white cells could be the ultimate cure for cancer and aids .

These are resporocyes, but I don't think it's existing yet (must be only on paper) To temper a bit what has been said, there are already several nanostructures that have proved successful in certain case. However, it's only the dawn of nanotechnology and real application for medicine won't start before some decades
