  • So many layers! Amazing.

  • Ang galing nga naman talaga. Imba! Certified napakahusay! Ang ganda rin ng musikang ginamit as background music. Impressive.

  • bigger is better....

  • A good job. It's really great. Of course, thumb up. Feel free to me.

  • i want it on my living room e.e

  • Maravilhoso trabalho...parabéns.

  • how damn expensive does this masterpiece costs?

  • good ..ho...

  • Ok, I usually hate when people comment on the dislikes but WHAT THE.. What kind of a master of oils, who's art transcends time itself would have the audacity to click on the dislike button..

  • Thats good but check out this time lapse Super Six Painting by artrant on U Tube

    totaly blew my mind !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @odintiger cheap advertising.. how many times are you going to go around and post this on videos... it would be cool if you just said.. come check out my video

  • Very cool to watch the progression!

  • awesome!

  • this ... is ... amazing.

  • this is not time lapse in my opion, still amazing though

  • How long it took?

  • @LuchoCastroo I'm assuming 3 months?

  • how inspiring !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds like a tommy emmanuel song. is it?

  • OMG WOW!

  • This looks great.

It would have been good to see the finished work unobstructed by scaffolding etc.

  • Great work!!! How long did it take from start to finish?

  • why did you [aint it all purple?

  • @sprayart94 It's the underpainting for the green (=glazing). The colors of the painting look more vibrant when there is some of the complementary color showing here and there.

  • @sprayart94 It's pretty common to paint a complimentary (opposite on the color wheel) color underneath something. One, to make the final layer more vivid. And two, to do something over once so it's easier for your final layer. Sort of like paint by numbers but with one shade. (In this case, purple.)

  • @sprayart94 *complementary. *facepalm*

  • what is the name of this guitar song?

  • too kewl

  • Outstanding...you get a case of beer for that one! ;-)

  • Were there any alligators in that water because it would be pretty irresponsible knowing children might venture near the painting!!

  • If this guy was a real artist he'd be able to do the exact same painting while sitting back in a chair using w/ a long paintbrush while smoking a cigar!!

  • oh you skillful bastard

  • I love this painting! By the way could you take a look at my paintings, I'm a 15 year old painter trying to get recognized. Well done, great art!

  • i hope you reopen your account. be my friend!

  • I like this because its lush, thoughtfully composed, very depth rendered, free and loose but not confused. the charcoal drawing was appealing on its own merit. a purplish underpainting vs the greenery like worked for miles...how many oil paintings have you done before this? how many big ones? much respect.

  • this hurts my brain...

  • @boogiekook

    time for a new brain.

  • Spectacular painting, mate. Well done.

  • Oohhhkay. First off. Fuck. You. Reasons? Because of how you paint. Seconnd. Why the fuck cant i draw like this?

  • Holy crap that is a HUGE one.. awesome though. very very nice.

  • Whats the song?

  • i love large paintings

  • WOW! Great job! That was huge and you painted it really nicely.

I would love to have a painting that humungous in my house, but the largest I've painted is 36X48.

  • 5 stars

  • enriching to watch the birth of an artwork, and watch it develop and find its place in the world. thanks, very fine work.

  • This was painted with oil paints.

  • Hi. How long did it take to dry?

  • I can't remember exactly, but it was days... It wasn't even quite dry all the way through when we rolled it up, so it wouldn't crack. Thanks for your interest.

  • @jordancraig Oh, are you not supposed to roll it up after such & such a time frame or it will crack? By the way you shouldn't allow you paintings to use crack, it's illegal plus its not healthy!

  • naic thanks

  • 1:18 and 1:22 look absolutely stunning!

  • What is the music playing in the background?

  • Music sample in Mac Os X (iLife06...i think)

  • Bravo!

Although I realize it is merely a video, the qualities of the work can be seen/estimated.

It is outstanding work. Difficult to find fine draftsman and fine art painters today.

    Sincerely, well done and congratulations.

  • i;m just amazed...!

  • Amazing work.

  • IT LOOKS SO COOL WITHOUT THE PAINTING (note only on 1:00) looks kinda like concept art :).

  • How much did that sell for?

  • im guessin in the ten thousand range

  • 10k would be an incredible deal for this painting!!

  • @jordancraig How much then? 30?

  • @jordancraig Woot?! They gave you less? o.o

  • @ahkjdh13 well some people sell small paintings for 5k (personal experience) so i guess this one could be a bit more. however i cant say much about the quality of the painting (need to see it from close distance).

but if its "modern style"(no small details / fast work) then sure i agree 10k is alot.

  • amazing work!

  • Woah.

  • WOW ,amazing .

  • brilliant!

  • Like I said, very ...... large

The subject matter didn't live up to the size.

Might as well have been a stage backdrop.

  • I completely agree. It's nice, but what could you possibly do with it?

  • you must not have watched the video all the way to the end. If you did you would have seen why the painting was so big, and where it went.

  • i would love to work this big, shame i have no room

  • I am amazed by the sheer size of this thing. WOW! I tend to paint small pieces. I'm working on a 2'x2' painting right now and sometimes I feel overwhelmed. I can't imaging taking on something this size. Kudos to you :)

  • That is neat. I never thought about priming my cotton fabric before stretching it on a wooden frame. Is there a difference?

  • OMG : D sweet like eye candy

    peace

    love

    and

    ARt

  • 3226+++++

  • wow awesome work that sure is somethin to be proud of keep up the good work was cool to see how it was made too :D

  • who cares about the song, its about the painting.

    that was a awesome.

  • I think it looks like he was painting the seasons (except winter).

    great job!

  • this makes me feel not crazy for using bright underpaintings. i'm the only one in my school who uses such a technique, and it's great to have some validation for it.

thanks! (haha my parents think that 18x24 is big and hate it when i work bigger.... i will show them this video!)

  • great !!!

  • Pretty!

  • This is inspiring! I'd love to do a large murial someday! The largest I've done so far is 16"x20"!

  • that was amazing!!!

  • Awesome Painting. I loved seeing the process.

  • by the looks of it the underpainting is very important.

ive done a BA Fine art and now MA in fine art and the worst thing is that the british educational system does not teach u these thigs. its all theory theory theory and bullshit.

  • I'm just going in to college now. But I found the most amazing teacher in the world because he's so practicle. He does have his philisophical moments but I know what you mean. Most teacher's aren't like that

  • Very well handled!!! Good job

  • Great video. Beautiful painting!

  • I can almost smell the paint and hear the music. I think he missed a spot!:)Awesome job.

  • magnificent........

  • the larger the BETTER! HAHA

  • i like realism.

  • Wow, this was very inspirational for artists and informative for those who have no idea what goes into the preparation, execution and delivery of such a grand study. Thank you for sharing, with the world, your wonderful vision and ability. Where was that final installation? THANK YOU! Five Stars "absolutely"

  • I can imagine someone spending several weeks on a work like this and then realising that it won't fit through the door of the warehouse.

  • That Would be awsome in my bedroom =P

I wish i had one of those .. its 'to die for'.

    well done.

  • Philip... Better look at the 'water-table'. It could flood. Amazing work. I love it. I thought I did well at eight feet by four! Now I am sick...

    Regards

    John

  • woooow! beautiful!

  • i totally loved it at 1:23, 1:29, 2:15 and of course the last pic. do you have this process on a website? i would love to see the 1:23 step

    thanks for showing

  • How much does a painting like this go for?

  • wow how long did the entire process take in real time? what about just the painting itself?

  • Wow, I wished I could've been there during the entire process, what a beautiful painting, vibrant colors, peaceful scene, it makes me want to step right into it, Great work Philip

  • SUPER EASY!

  • Yay! Hoorah for your efforts! and magnificent job!

  • Great job! I wonder how long will it take to get it done for a 4 min video. Cheers!

  • Very nice job there.Want to learn to oil paint check out my teaching shows on you tube Jack Kolber

  • Nice - hoping to learn how to paint in oils s'harder than it looks- way harder. What does underpainting do to improve the final result. Underpainting - painting greens as an undercoat, then using green- why..cheers. Nice work.

  • Underpainting - painting greens as an undercoat, then using green I think

  • Your colour-control is amazing!

  • ... wow .. beautiful painting ... impressive ...

  • Good job!!!

  • It takes very skilled artists to paint and oil painting!

  • WOW

  • really cool 2 see conception and creation to the colaborative journy to the comissioners

  • I realy hope you post another painting video like this! Realy neat! Five stars!

  • Cheese and crackers! How much gesso does something like that use up? The world I would give to be able to afford that much canvas!

  • And who says SIZE doesn't matter?! This is a very good painting - but it's the scale that makes it great...

  • Nice work!

  • Nice one Phil, fellow artist Trev.

  • Good job! Please feel free to stop by at my Myspace site where I cisplay some of my works. Just search for erikez ,on Myspace. Id love some comments!

    All the best from Sweden!

  • WOW! that was beautiful! What a technique. So many layers and changes went into it, and it just looks amazing :]*thumbs up for you!* 4 months, whoa.

  • i cant express my love for your work, it is absolutely the best...please paint more work and definitely post it!!!

  • This is beautiful! It's also very educational for us beginner artists to see.

  • Beautiful! Do you always paint in magenta and blue first? If so why?

  • The clouds must be done first, and perfected before the water because the water simply reflects the clouds.

  • you made numerous changes to the clouds yet very few to the water, can you explain why.

    regards,

    Alex

  • It took 2 years to negotiate with the client and choose subject matter etc. Then about 4 months of solid painting. Thanks for the comment!

  • Beautiful! How long did it take you to finish this piece?
