What's sad about this election is that whatever party you support, the ideal of building a better country has been trumped by a pervailing "what's in it for me" attitude. HDB prices, job theft, ERP, GST, etc. It's a complex and delicate balance and it seems like alot of people overlook the big picture to concentrate on their own personal pain points, which isn't all that painful relative to how the rest of the world is going.

@ArtemisXCIX Do some research and go and make a solid comparison between the 2. TPL is disliked for a reason. You cannot argue with the many people who dislike her, people don't hate for the sake of hating. Look at Nicole, you can see she puts her heart in it, while TPL is just someone who enters parliament by the backdoor(A bad worker in E&Y, quit and dumped Bf to marry PM lee's secretary so that she can get into politics). Its very simple, if she is good, she would not be jeered.

I'm from Tanjong Pagar GRC, and it sucks that we can't vote! We have never voted at all for years ever since MM LKY got the Tanjong Pagar seat in parliament. And sucks that we're the only constituency that's being left out in GE 2011 :(

To be honest, a Kate Spade bag is nothing. It's weightage can be compared to that of an iceberg; the tip. An LV bag can cost 3 times that easily. All this talk about bags is immaterial; if TPL can alleviate the problems of her constituents, if TPL can help old folks enjoy the fruits of their lifetime of labour, I wouldn't give sh*t if it was a PRADA bag. But we all know, even if she holds a NIKE bag, the crowd will still shout NIKE NIKE NIKE because we just like Nicole Seah much much more.

What's sad about this election is that whatever party you support, the ideal of building a better country has been trumped by a pervailing "what's in it for me" attitude. HDB prices, job theft, ERP, GST, etc. It's a complex and delicate balance and it seems like alot of people overlook the big picture to concentrate on their own personal pain points, which isn't all that painful relative to how the rest of the world is going.
