  • can you make nord mead

  • @VERGIL1112 Are you talking to me? If so, the answer is probably not, because I don't make mead.

  • i prefer Honeybrew definetly has a more earthy taste which I prefer in a darker brew such as Honeybrew has, but also unlike Black Briar the kind of passion and craftsmanship that goes into making each tankard of mead is unparalled.

  • @Xxskaterman I am going to have to start trying these.

  • maven black briar will hear about this..

  • @sajpaj67 I haven't even played these games, but the references are cracking me up for some reason.

  • Oblivion brought me here.

  • @Solidiquis Did he let you ride shotgun?

  • LMFAO all these skyrim comments

  • @neo90korasaki I feel so left out, since I've never played the game.

  • I used to drink a lot of mead like you, until I took an arrow in the knee.

  • @Sephirius Its a rough world out there.

  • nice interview, thanks

  • @Doggieman1111 Thanks for watching.

  • Alestorm brought me here

  • wanna try some good mead? Red Stone Blueberry. mmm..

  • @emobarney Where can I get that?

  • I prefer Black-Briar mead.

  • @krazybadger78 Where is that made?

  • @AgileHProductions Oh, in Riften.

  • @AgileHProductions I'm not sure if you understand, but a lot of these comments are references to The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim video game that just came out. They talk about mead a lot in that game.

  • @AgileHProductions riften

  • I think Skyrim might make the mead market grow. Lots of Skyrim comments here. "I'd be a lot happier and a lot warmer with a belly full of mead," is a quote from a stock line from some of the guards in Skyrim.

Distilleries should use subtle names of meads that only Skyrim players would recognize to reel in that market without pushing away other people not realizing that it's actually hinting at a video game.

  • @hellomate639 I wonder how many people have tried mead for the first time because of Skyrim?

  • @AgileHProductions I am actually buying and trying one because of the Riften Guard endorsing it :D

  • @Diminished5 Riften Guards make a lot of good beverage suggestions.

  • I used pass on mead, but then I took an arrow to the knee

  • Bitch Beowulf brought me here.

  • I'd be alot happier and a lot warmer with a bellyful of mead

  • @uliseto That's a good saying!

  • @uliseto You brew potions? How about brewing me up an ale?

  • There's a Winery/Meadery near my area called Valley Vineyards, they make some of the best Mead I have ever tasted. I tried it first at the Ohio Renaissance Festival back in 2009. Now, I drink it in the winter, and yes, I drank a whole bottle of it while watching Thor and playing Skyrim just recently. Mead: Drink of the Gods!

  • @NuclearFist I think a whole bottle might kill me.

  • @AgileHProductions Okay, not a WHOLE bottle, an exaggeration, but half did knock me upside down.

  • i LOVE honey mead. does mr. drake deliver to florida?

  • @nypoet22 Good question. For the right price I'm sure he could get you a bottle. :)

  • Is it sad Skyrim brought me here?

  • @FWalshingham I don't know what that is.

  • @FWalshingham You think that's sad? I have ordered a bottle of Mead simply because of Skyrim.

  • @FWalshingham Me too *true story*

  • @FWalshingham yea

  • @FWalshingham

    Lol. Me too no way!

  • @FWalshingham Not really. I learned about mead from The Hobbit when I was young.

  • this makes me thirsty, even though i am only 16. Mead is alcoholic right

  • @TheChildrenofOlympus Yeah. You should probably wait a few years to try it.

  • It's very easy to brew, I've been making it since 2007. I recommend using high alcohol yeast, you can get it up to about 18% alcohol which gives it a kick like a mule. The taste changes a lot with ageing, personally I prefer it when it's fairly freshly brewed but it goes a bit like sherry if aged for 6-12 months or more.

  • @MrCutsteel I think I would get myself in trouble with a beverage like that.

  • I must try this!

  • @SoCalTactical I'm sure Woody Drake would like you to try it too!

  • I'm from Ontario. In our province there is only one commercial mead producer (to my knowledge). The only way to get any variety here is to make it yourself, which i've been doing for a few years.

  • @gavinplaysbass Do you have a favorite recipe.

  • @AgileHProductions

I like to use about 10 kg of honey with enough water to make it 5 gallons (i can't remember the exact quantity of water) and WYeast Mead yeast. I mainly just fool around with different types of proportions of honey as well as things like carbonation and oak aging.

  • lol what kind of sad faggot disables ratings these days XD

  • @IFknHateUTube Sorry. I'm not sure why ratings were turned off for this video. I never turn ratings off. I've changed the settings to allow ratings. Now I'm a sad faggot who enables ratings. Rate away! Happy trails! :)

  • @AgileHProductions hmmm... touché, brewer interviewer guy

  • The main reason to try Mead is that its the oldest alcoholic beverage know to man even before Beer and Wine, lets say above 6000 years.

  • @murray821 I use them same reasoning every time I drink water.

  • @AgileHProductions Thats right, but water does not contain alcohol, at least not where I live :D

  • Bachelor in Fine Arts that's how crazy I'm !!! :D priceless

  • Brothers Drake Mead is the BEST ALCOHOL I'VE EVER HAD!!! Yum!!

  • Kudos for turning people on to the idea of trying mead. Mead is great stuff and very easy to make at home, too. (compared to brewing beer, at least).

  • Great interview, and very informative. I want to try mead! Are those the libby pint glasses you are drinking from? Are they new?

  • @dhartogs Thanks. This is one of my favorite episodes.

We have new custom Libbey glasses. They are 18 oz shakers. I got them a little bigger to accommodate beers that have large heads, but these glasses are a lot heftier than I was expecting. They are probably twice as heavy as any pint glass that you are use to.

  • @dhartogs When you come to Cbus we could go check out Brothers Drake Meadery and taste some. There is also a microdistillery that makes craft vodka that we could check out.

  • Ever had braggot style beer? It's made with mead. You should have this guy and/or other mead and/or wine guys on the show to see how they respond to beer.

  • Interesting stuff. Good interview.

  • I have been making mead for quite awhile now. The best one I have made was a ginger/rosemary sweet methaglyn made with an English ale yeast. It is super sweet and really goes well with dark chocolate or mild cheese and fruit for desert. Glad to see someone making mead on a larger scale in the US. Cheers!

  • @hoppinglion01 Don't quote me on this, but I think their are only two meaderies in Ohio. It's a pretty rare commodity around here. I enjoy the variety you can get from the different meads. I would like to try one with hops that balances the sweetness. I'm not sure if that would be really good or really awful.

  • @AgileHProductions Are you thinking of a Braggot or just a mead/methaglyn made with hopps as the herb? I myself have never had a true braggot, I have plans to make one very soon.

  • me and a friend picked up a bottle of mead a coulple months ago. i cant remember the name but we got it at cost plus world market. it was interesting haha

  • very interesting... I'll try some mead one day.

  • @altrock03 Don't just try one. I had at least 5 and they all tasted completely different. I'd recommend doing a tasting to appreciate some of the differences.

  • sounds good. and kinda healthy to. honey, spices, lavender ya. how long has this been a beer/wine stuff

  • @pyroman675 Mead is thousands of years old.
