  • it's alright. I honestly though you figured out how to make an extremely easy/cheap ff whip. But this can work if you should have to use an AC just hard to figure the measurements

  • this is a good idea but i thought one of the main purposes of a follow focus, other than easy focusing (obviously), was to remove the need for contact with the lens so as too reduce camera shake? how does this hold up in that respect?

  • cool idea..

just made mysef a remote controled folow focus today :D

but i really like ur idea

    Jacques

  • Great video! Just wondering how and where i can make this and get the supplies

  • Awesome video!!! Just wondering how and where I can get the materials to make this.

  • @Mraptur3 - totally agree! They are so expensive and most of the time you don't need it. Go the mother ficking hand!

  • Looks like a jar opener. What is it actually?

  • unless your blocking all your shots or you have cash...you dont need any rip off follow focus system...i use the cheapest best follow focus ever created... my motherfucking hand... have a nice day...

  • I Like It! I will make one this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

  • Qu'est-ce que c'est que je dois acheter pour fabriquer ca??? :D

  • So what IS the thing your using as the FF? Where can I get one?

  • Nice job! I love to see simple innovations like this.

  • |Totaly win. Gonna use this one ;) Thanks ;)

  • I don´t give a F... what people say , I think it is a very cool , simple and useful DIY.

100 points for showing how simple things can be when you use your head and THINK instead of writing stupid comments about something U don´t know.

Oh... before someone say something... yes , I sort of know about these things...

    1DmIV , 5DMII , 7D , 2 REDs and 2 Panavision owner.

  • @MarsAlexandre Thanks for comment. People like, others do not. Honestly I don't care. It has been a great help for my shots.

  • @MarsAlexandre in the end it does the job and the whole point of diy is doing it yourself to save money so yh great video

  • @MarsAlexandre You can't own a panavision. Panavision is only rented out by panavision. And I think you'll also need to be of a film studio to rent one but not 100% sure.

  • @MarsAlexandre LOL! Nice touch with the "Panavision owner" :D But you are right about this FF ideea. Very nice!

  • Why do people leave a green screen unedited?

  • @ucheucheuche I don't understand... :s

  • it's actually ridiculous when canon or nikon could just simply build it into the damn dslr's for another grand or so)but that would ruin billions for red rock et all...and that we don't want(right?)...also sales of dslr's would go through the roof...and that we don't want ('cause know every trunk monkey calls himself Steven Sp.......)

  • what ever works for you ...myself ...I'd rather have my trained trunk monkey do some barrel rolling on my 5d2 lenses ...he he he

  • @EpicsodeOne YOU don't know what is a follow focus and you know just one kind of FF... There are many differents systems for that... If you are ignorant, too bad ;)

  • @EpicsodeOne You're ignorant because you don't know other FF systems... Google can be you friend.

  • @kokoloko12398 As long as follow focus is a retarded hanger extension built by a unitard, NO I DON'T! ...Noob!

  • @EpicsodeOne You can see the goo is autistic by just seeing it in a video ?

    You missed your calling... :P

  • @Stikstofman DUde, whatever, see the other youtube videos on how DIY FF is done, you will see that it HAS to be more than a hanger tip with a door nob.

  • @EpicsodeOne holy fuck, you are really stupid man

  • @EpicsodeOne Dude great idea! i can use a cloths hanger to make this LOL

  • Why not use a big hose clamp with some foam. Put a flat piece of metal to reach to your handle for pushing or pulling as you turn the handle. Connect together using a nylon tie strip? Attach to the handle and twist to focus in or out.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @nikeo671 Moby - Horse & Carrot

  • @kokoloko12398 thanks.

  • After watching this, I took a coat hangar from the closet and bent one into shape. It works perfectly.

  • I'll buy it from you....

  • Can you give me a short instructional on how you built this?

  • Thanks for teaching one simple technique ! Nice idea! Congratulation!

  • nice music

  • He said it was called - "Homemade" - that is not good name

I think better name - "Homemade 9000 DX SuperPro"

  • @OghamTheBold lol

  • I wish I knew what this part is called so I could buy it and DIY...not much help this video is being a "DIY" video :(

  • nice idea. i went with an even cheaper route. a ZIP TIE.!! Although I will try your method out for sure. thanks

  • I think I'll use my oil filter removal tool for my follow focus from now on.

  • Cowabunga...!!!

  • Although this seems good you might want to reconsider the design. The reason follow focus is used is so that you don't put pressure on the lens or "move the lens" while you are filming. You now have a level that magnifies your movement, which also magnifies the pressure you put on the lens. the key to follow focus is transferring energy from a sideways action to a forward/backward action so there is less movement noticed. when I get mine finished I will post a response to show :)

  • @thomassudbury yeah that's what i thought as well - over time the lens is gonna get damaged slightly or something

  • WHere did you buy this?

What did you make this from?

  • Love this product but my french is crap. Is it a jar opener???

  • where exactly did you find that metal part? or did you bend it like that yrself?

  • very good. tres bien.

  • What's the name of this device ? Where can you find it ? Any links to buying this item ?

  • @sgribber Homemade.

  • Yeah !! Un Z-finder Un!!

Merci je vais lire ça tranquille demain, mes yeux ne fixent plus rien, et de l'anglais encore moins!

Je te mets en contact mec!

    A+

  • Il me manque plus qu'a trouver comment faire un z-finder homemade... ou un petit LCDVF... ;)

    A+

  • @etoile1980 Ah oui, alors là je serais preneur si tu trouve u bon petit truc !

Il y a un procédé connu avec diverses vielles lentilles de jumelle.

    A tester...

  • Yes merci!!

    Ca déchire tout!

    Bravo le génie! ;)

  • C'est quoi cet ustensile? Franchement ça le fait carrément!

  • @etoile1980 Juste une tige en alu, bien pliée ! ;-)

  • keep it simple. i hate those DIY projects that cost like a $400.

  • so where do I find it?

  • @Idontcareaboutausern

    Build one.. :D

  • ;-)

  • really a good ideo :)

    i'll be trying it.

  • @Comixfreak

As kokoloko says, it's just a piece of alluminum, folded precisely to fit around that particular lens and padded with something soft. Great idea.
