No way are the chains 100 pounds each (5)that means he lifting 1000 pounds at the top of the lift which is highly doubful especially for his size. nice video though:)
No disrsepect, I think this stuff awesome but your one comment "the weight gets lighter during the part of the lift when the person is at the most disadvantaged", isnt this the equivulant of "cheating" with free weights? Wouldnt you building muscle memory at some point to be looking for the easy way out! Not trying to be rude but form and intensity taken to failure are awesome builders. Im 47 and still train some, wanted to be the oldest guy to fight in the UFC for the first time (52).
No disrespect taken. Here's your misunderstanding. Let's say you can bench 300 lbs. Can you lock out 315? Probably, can you get 315 off of your chest? Probably not...so you are stuck at 300. Chains will add weight ot the top of the lift - WORKING YOU HARDER - and you are still at your max during the lower portion of the lift. So you will be lifting 300 in the hole, and up to 315 or so at lockout when you add chains. I hope that helps!
okay right now im looking into getting a big tire i have a place getting it from a dirt pit in my town........then getting a rope for rope climbs and chains would be nice ill see what i can do but money is limited haha
What is the difference between using chains and a regular weigh? And how does the log press is better than regular press? I had never seen this before :)
Weights rule, we just work chains in as a variations. Hanging they add instability which forces more bracing and control. When they deload on the ground, the weight "gets lighter" during the part of the lift when the person as at the most disadvantage (ie, weakest at the bottom of a bench). The log has neutral grips which I find a little easier on the shoulders. Hope that helps!
I thought I responded but it isnt coming up! I bought that mace from Ryan Pitts at Strong Grip. However I have seen tutorials on mace making - fill a mini basketball with concrete and stick a shovel handle in. Let dry and you have a mace! Sorry this didnt come up earlier, thanks for the comments on the Bull Strength Manual!
Explain to me how the log thing is different from a regular bar

what are the advantages for using chains?!
criceto 1 year ago
@criceto They feel harder to lift, they can move freely so u need a bit more strength to balance them

Nice,... it is very interesting the progressive resistance chains provide when performing bench press,.... Cheers!

@jessedabody They aren't 100 lbs each. 20 lbs each, 5 chains is 100 total! Ha, definitely not 1000 lbs, that would be nuts!
jhashey 1 year ago
@jhashey Ok the way it looks......"5 chains-100 pounds each" lol....I was going to say.......Anyways looks like a tough workout:)

@jessedabody ah, I meant each hand, not each chain. Good catch! Thanks for the comment!

how much did the chains cost?
blaketoth 2 years ago
I purchased them from Iron Woody Fitness, but unfortunately they don't carry them anymore. Chances are anywhere else they will be around 80$ a pair.
jhashey 2 years ago
okay thanks ill just check out home depot or something
blaketoth 2 years ago
Usually too small at home depot and lowes. Best bet is a tractor supply store or a boating store.
