Just think if the president was on stage and someone ran onto the stage after him. The president would immediately be sent out of there.

To end all speculation, one needs to just visit the dmbalmanac, which gives the venue/setlist breakdown of the night, as well as any sidenotes. Once there, look up September 23, 2006. The trench coat reason is indeed true as is the band was supposed to go into Last Stop but Dave waved off a retuned guitar to go into Stay instead! As for what was said, I am pretty sure it is: "Where the fuck was security when the son of a bitch was behind me?"

Everybody talking about sound does not make a whole lot of sense especially if you weren't actually at the concert. A professional musician would NOT get that pissed about his in-ears volume level going down. And a professional sound tech would NOT adjust the musician's personal level without request. I'd definitely agree that security dropped the ball on this. Now it WOULD have been hilarious to see Carter literally jump over his drums and put the guy on the ground! Carter's a BEAST!!
@Johnaram I know pros get angry.. I know a few and play with a couple. But, I was saying he wouldn't be as angry as he was because of a sound issue. He knows his instrument and his set like the back of his hand as many times as he's been playing with DMB. Musicians on the stage after time know how to read each other and if there is an issue with in-ears or monitors they can keep going without breaking a sweat. Near the end of American Baby Intro, this total creeper in a black trench coat walked onto the stage in between Carter's kit and Stefan's bass stacks and made a b-line for Dave. He was immediately taken down by security and removed from the venue, but the band was furious that security was breached in that manner and Dave went right into Stay, even though The Last Stop was listed on the actual setlist. This occurred at the Charlottesville show on September 23, 2006.
He was pissed because crazy trench coat guy got on stage.. He entered on the side of the stage where the families were sitting... I think he was also pissed because Security let it happen.
he has to, otherwise it'd create a scene. Security really screwed up at this concert. Luckily they got the guy before he could do anything - if he was planning on doing something.

It was just a *JOKE*.
I know perfectly well pissed=angry in American slang. In British English it means drunk.
I was being facetious about people using national slang on an international website - sorry it went over your head ;-)

idiots the reason he got ticked off is bc there sound booth managers turned his hear back down obviously and they wouldnt turn it up so dave had to start the song and carter didnt like that DUH!

dave went to "stay" because carter is the one who usually counts the song in, last stop needs to be counted in by the drummer, stay is a jam that dave could start on his own, and the rest of the band either had to get on board or sound like shit, i guess dave felt it was nothing to be mad over

Near the end of American Baby Intro, this total creeper in a black trench coat walked onto the stage in between Carter's kit and Stefan's bass stacks and made a b-line for Dave. He was immediately taken down by security and removed from the venue, but the band was furious that security was breached in that manner and Dave went right into Stay, even though The Last Stop was listed on the actual setlist. This occurred at the Charlottesville show on September 23, 2006.

He was pissed because crazy trench coat guy got on stage.. He entered on the side of the stage where the families were sitting... I think he was also pissed because Security let it happen.

The dude was trying to tell Carter that the jig is up, there's a new kick a** drummer in town: Ears.
If Carter had only shown respect to Ears then things would have been cool and OK.
But, Carter dissed Ears, the cat, and world's best drummer. So, now, Ears is going around the world dazzling audiences with his amazing palette of finesse, verve, rudiments, Mexican-style Guatemalan Nordic spiced salad dishes and simply adorable drumming whiskers.
Legend is, Ears is the new drum gawd.
