Same goes for wonderful Ludwig, and James the Cat, and The Brollys. None of them on DVD. Why not???

UTUBE is the best thing ever on the internet

  • I remember watching this on Captain Kangaroo and Pinwheel

  • Such memories. I would watch this before school.

  • those were the days!

  • no one will ever find the soundtrack used to this cartoon no on...ive looked forever this music needs to be found like at 2:02 i heart this song.

  • This takes me back to the every early 80s when Nickelodeon played some really cool shows. Pinwheel, Danger Mouse, Count Ducklula, You Can't Do That On Television, and so much more. Man has Nick forgotten their roots! I love for the days when shows like Simon would still be played.

  • Wow...it's been over 20 years since Ive seen this! Talk about memories!!!

  • I loved this when I was little:-) I use to sing along with the theme song everyday.

  • I LOVED this show! I was a kid (b. 1979) and it used to come on Nick. The song, the short little plots - the sheer fun and imagination in it made it one of my fave shows. (And Bernard Cribbins voice was stellar!) Thanks for posting! So many memories!!!

  • Catchiest theme tune ever !!

  • oh Simon (:

  • I wished there was a soundtrack from this show the song that starts at 2:05 - 2:23 is beautiful :)

  • @AudioAndroid Just check out Sigur Ros the song "Glosoli" that should fill the void of Beauty for you.....

  • I LOVED this as a kid! And rarely does anyone else know what I'm talking about when I try to describe it. (I'm b. 1972) I'm going to waste my morning watching as many as are here. Thanks so much to the poster!

  • @rosenbloomster --i was born in 1972 also and i'm always the one explaining cartoons like this to other people...lol

  • wow so nice to see. I sing this song all of the time but haven't seen this in 40? years.

  • Such lovely chalk drawerings...

  • wow, how long since I've seen this...

Didn't know it was Bernard Cribbins doing the narration

  • this is an example of the greatness of children's programming that today's tv shows fail to achieve.

  • i used to have some videos of this when i was little, i used to love them

  • I used to watch this on TVO as a kid!

  • who does the music at 2:05 ?

  • i'd like to know myself...

  • HOLY DUDE! I remember this! For years I tried to tell my friends about it, but nobody believed me. DUDE!

  • 4 real no one believed me either lol

  • @landcommander1981 - only very special people remember simon in the land of chalk drawings - 1975 it was one of my earliest memories

  • @chisacat I must've watched it in the very early 1980s, maybe around the time I was 4 or 5, probably in reruns. I vaguely remember it as part of channel 8's broadcasts, but it might've been another station. I rather liked Simon, because he had glasses like me. Of course when I tried drawing on the walls, I got in trouble. :p Simon had the sense to do it outside. :D

  • @chisacat Early memories for me, too. Remember eating oxtail soup while watching this when I came home from school for lunch.

  • @landcommander1981 I BELIEVE U!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I REMEMBER.. HOLY SHIT! ME AND MY BOWL OF CEREAL!!

  • @oldmanjenkinz1 Thanks so much. :D For me it was after school - I'd kick off my sneakers, settle down on the carpeting (that's another memory in of itself) and watch Simon. I used to sometimes pretend I was Simon and take out my chalks and chalkboard. :D

  • Like another poster here, I watched Simon... two times a day, once on Cpt. Kangaroo and then on CBC (Canada).

There are some indelible memories of my childhood (not all good). Thank God for Simon. Each day for 5 minutes, he took me over the garden wall with him. Perhaps not surprisinly, one of my favorite things to do with my kids... chalk drawing on the sidewalk.

  • .....Dont worry sun, these noughts I captured on the moon will stop you being lonely! ..........well, naturally

  • I wonder if Simon got robbed in the land of the chalk drawings. That would be a pimp episode.

  • I used to watch this show one of my all time favorites

  • "They were pleased of course because a present is a present" ^_^

  • O.M.G. sweetest cartoon ever, I so remember the them tune, and always have it in my head when ever I am using a Ladder, LOVELY !!!!

  • Please the helms in the back ground the hums i think this music is the best please help me find the music of simon

  • Lovely. This was an awesome show!

  • Wow, I miss Pinwheel, I miss being a kid. You know Mike Myers spoofed this on SNL. He played a childlike character named Simon, drawing pictures in a bathtub with a special guest. "Are you looking at my bum?"

  • Comment removed

  • OMG, this used to come on pinwheel!!! :D

  • I'm SOOOOO glad I found this and the others. No one ever knows what I'm talking about! :P

  • OK you tube I love you-----I love you..

    Magic memories

  • In 2001, CINAR (A CDN Animation Co.) briefly revived the series.

Simon's friend, Henry, was replaced by Lily, and it was narrated by the late Ernie Coombs (aka Mr. Dressup).

  • song

  • good

  • well you know my name is simon and I like to do drawrings..... ARE YOU LOOKING AT MY ASS? Cheeky monkey.

  • Magic-- I mean memory lane-- Imean I am Jaw dropped now-- man-- I feel like I did some weed man --

  • Oh where on earth did you find this? Thank you. I'm an 80's kid and no one ever knows what I am talking about when I mention this show. It used to come on during Paddington Bear on PBS. That song just warms my heart. Thanks.

  • Thanks for positing these.

After all these years, I still have dreams about the chalk garden and Simon,

and that song is hard to forget! LOL

  • What sucks is Nick ripped this idea off with ChalkZone, which always irritated me.

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • The Simon skit was in the 90's with Mike Myers. Didn't know it was Simon LaBon singing? Interesting.

Thanks for sharing... loved this as a kid, and glad I found it again.

  • The only reason I know this song is the Saturday night live skit. Remember that, I think it was in the 80's that it was on

  • One of the most vivid memories I have of TV when I was a child was the song from this programme. None of my friends remembered it at all. I'm not crazy! Hurrah!

  • Oh, I'm with you there. I don't even talk to people about this show anymore. Because when I do, yes, they think I am crazy too. This is the first time I have seen it since the 70's. I have found it at last!

  • I have a ear and memory for songs, that blow my friends away... LOL. When I heard Mike Myers on SNL singing this, I said "hey, he changed the lyrics". I don't think a lot of people knew the origin/background of the skit though.

  • Exactly. This, along with Schoolhouse Rock. Huge influences. (32 years ago?)

  • Does everybody here know who Simon LeBon is? From Duran Duran right? Well did you know that his mother wrote the stories for this cartoon, and they were all about him as a child. Also, the opening song is him as an 8 yearold child. He wrote that song.

  • These Simon stories were written by Edward MacLachlan. They weren't based on Simon LeBon.

  • Oooo. I guess you know it all? Sheila LeBon sold the stories to Eddie.

  • I never thought that any one remembers Simon. I was so happy to see it. After I found the video I relised that there's nothing imposible to find here.

    Thanks

  • We named our gray and white cat after Simon.

  • Wow. What a memory jog. This was an awesome show!

  • I'm having a flashback to my childhood! Thanks!

  • Simon roxx, haven't seen this in years.

  • Lovely. I think must be the one my mum was talking about the other day that I liked as a pre-schooler. I had vague memories of the opening credits. It's great to make these connections!

  • Also, I met a cool guy in Williamsburg tonight named Simon, and told him these cartoons were like animated Maurice Sendak drawings, which they're clearly not. But to my 5 year old eyes I guess they were.

  • I too find myself tearing up a bit and it makes me wonder about the longlasting effects of television on children's minds. It's not appropriate, this feeling of an old friend lost that I have for a cartoon character.

  • THANK YOU!!! I have missed Simon. I have sung this song everytime I use chalk. I love the land of chalk!

  • Holy hell, I haven't seen this since it was new! I'm a little kid again! lol

  • i was 6 or 7 maybe 8... no i wasn't 11..

  • is so nice to see others who knows this cartoon??? and yes is right is not like the crap they play for kids today on tv is a real sad shame... sorry retyiped it on the tyipo ^^^^

  • i feel so old and so happy at the same time...thank you so much for posting this!

  • I too get this song stuck in my head all the time.

  • Thank you SO much for putting this here. I sing this song all the time, and no one believes it was real...I loved Simon!

  • The song is simply magical and stuck in head my forever. Beautiful and most creative animations ever done with a wonderful message for children about compassion and goodness.

  • I agree. It's not like the crap they call entertainment for kids these days.

  • Simply ingenius creation and my childhood fav! Thanks for posting this, takes me back into my growing up years!

  • Ahhh! This was one of my favorite cartoons to watch!

  • For some reason the Simon song fills me with this sadness and yearning for my childhood. It's a very nostalgic song for me because I was a very dreamy solitary little boy and loved these cartoons... Thank you for posting these.

  • This is awesome! I've been singing the Simon song to husband for months. He couldn't remember the cartoon until I found this. Thanks!

  • YOU MUST BE A NOSTALGIA GOD!

  • I looked this up to prove to my husband that it existed, he had never seen it before. I can't believe I found it, thanks for the post. The nostalgia brought goose bumps to my arms!

  • i can't believe i'm looking at these again. amazing! wow... and just as eerie and melonchole as i remember them.

  • i used to watch this on captain kangaroo! it was & still is my favorite!!!! i remembered the words, too....

  • I HAVE WAITED OVER 15 YEARS TO SEE SIMON IN THE LAND OF CHALK DRAWINGS! I thought these were all forgotten; bu thanks to motorcrash they are back, and I can re-live a big part of my early childhood. Thanks sooo much! "Well, you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true..."

  • good dam show to watch when ur drunk used to watch it wehn i was a child though thanks 4 the post

  • I adored this series. My own son is named Simon now (no, not because of this cartoon's influence) and he enjoyed watching this.

  • Thanks for posting this! I used to watch Simon on Captain Kangaroo.

  • Looks like they left the scene out were simon returns to space to collect all the rotisserie gourmet bird-ala-ring dinners

  • How on earth did you find all these? Are they available to buy? Thanks for allowing me to see them all again!

  • who the fuck is henry?

  • I loved Simon as a kid! Wonder how many of us American kids wondered why the narrator kept calling zeroes "naughts"? :)

  • wow upload more eps, i use to watch this stuff when i wa a kid

  • i remember this so much...I loved this cartoon!! It was on during Pinwheel.

  • Holy crap! It's pinwheel! I totally forgot about this! Thanks for reminding me! I always thought Simon was on another show like The Electric Company. Thanks for reminding me of its original venue!

  • YES! My last name is Simon, and I've been drawing all my life. Now I work professionally as an artist. This is such a nice cartoon -- I remember it well.

Although, there have been several things I've drawn over the years I'd hoped would come true but didn't. :)
