  • What is this singer's accent ? It has intonations of Ireland rather than the USofA

  • @Wordsmith37

I think it's known as the 'Queen's English,' which dun't mean much these days, does it?

    Jennie. x.

  • Thank you for posting this song. Buell Kazee was a cousin from our county, Magoffin Co. Kentucky. A monument stands in our town with names of many family members. On one side facing North are names of those who fought for the Union and on the side facing South are names who fought the Confederacy. My grandparents handed down many stories of this sad time. No state was more divided. Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis both born not far from one another in Kentucky. Thank you again...

  • Thank you. Thank you. I've been searching for this song for years. You revived childhood memories for me. Thank you wherever you are. I'm in Ireland.

  • @ceilihouse You're very welcome! It's my favorite recording of the song (many versions use a different tune) and I thought it should be on YouTube. If you want to own it, it's on a compilation of war-themed songs from the Tompkins Square label called "Bloody War" (available through Amazon, etc.).
