Yes the car started but how do you drive off, the steering wheel should lock on you since the keys are not in the ignition barrell?

@bengeify lol, the 5 second way of gettin the steering lock of is a peice of wood through the steering wheel and force it either way, a couple of seconds pushing will break the lock. If the police pull u over and u aint got keys, they will test for this by turning car of and turning steering wheel to see if it locks. If not would proberly mean going to the station

@FrankColesify lol it already tried, car thiefs generally carry crowbars for this reason.

There used to be an old trick, changing the steering wheel was very popular for a while cos of only one nut holding it in place. But manufacturers designed new ways of the lock operating on the shaft instead of the wheel. which means the clamp is small and weak, hence forcing it.

@FrankColesify In some cars i have worked on, there is a bolt that locks the steering wheel when you turn full. if you simply stick and twist it severs the link that pulls that bar out. so carry a leatherman with you.

generally what you d is twist the two same-colored wires together (often red) and then touch the power connector to these 2 (usually black? or brown) this powers the starter motor,.. when you want to stop and shut off the car, unwind the 2 "permanently" connected wires =)

Deland you pull the coil wire or just dissconnect the same wires he just hooked together, he just bypassed the switch. that all the wires are originally connected to. You turn the key to start and to stop you dont throw magic dust at it. And actaually if you are stranded in the desert you are probably either going to run out of gas before getting to your destination, or not giving a care how to turn the damn car off.

Actually this doesn't work in the UK in most models in the UK it's Yellow to Red then add Black or in another way I don't think it matters what order they're connected.

Doesn't work on many cars in the UK except the old Ford Fiesta's and Escort's. The Vauxhall Cavalier also has a similar trick but the others are all hot wire. You'll also need to snap the steering lock if it's your own car only do this if you're desperate because most cars if you fix the barrels and not the steering lock the engine cuts out.

about immobilizers, if its not built into the cars ECU then chanses r u can just find the black box with wires coming out under the dash, u simply remove the box and join the wires back together(wires r color coded), they install cheap immobilizers just by cutting the important ignition wires and putting the box between.

@wolflife1 look through your car's manual to see how the car is wired, find which colored wires designate the battery and starter wires, that usually helps. i try and use gloves (insulated preferably) when ive had to do this in the past. the last time i had to do it is when my buddy got hammered and lost his car keys in the bottom of lake michigan. i guess it pays to know this shit, except it sketches most people out haha
