  • Awesome guide. I have a pneu gun, and a canon sd1000 with underwater housing. Trying to figure some way to mount mine without drilling into the gun :P

You think a couple circular clamps holding down something like yours would work?

  • Great vid mate, Thanks.

  • Macbrand,

    Mahalos, safe divin'... Aloha, UC

  • Thank u for da info!

  • Mustanger, You bet

    Aloha, UC

  • awesome man was great help.... happy hunting!!

  • right on, man, Mahalo and happy hunting!

  • Awesome video! I made the mount a few weeks ago. Just tested it out today, you can see the video in the video response area. Worked really nice, I just have to tighten the bolts a little more next time so the recoil wont move the camera mount.

  • thanks!

  • All your videos look great, how's the flash on this?

  • Good Question, I haven't used it yet underwater. I'll have to do a Night Dive (very interesting, very spooky), and find out.

The flash is inside the case, so I don't know whether it will disperse properly.

Thanks for the good question, when I do a Night Ops, I'll report on results.

  • Hey thanks for the excellent tips. I used the wing nut/ with a plastic washer to connect to my camera. But since I have an omer 110 gun its plastic and doesn't have much room on the end to attach the camera so I looped a pipe hanger (one end cut short) through the butt of the gun which fits pretty nicely. My camera is a Canon SD 500. Thanks!

  • Right on, Herb, judging from your videos your method works well...Aloha

  • thanks man ,in fact i am living now in france , thank you for the information i thought that the hardware can be found ready in diving store but i understant that is not the case, and my speargun is europian so there is no hole in it :) so i will try to find a combination of hardware

dive safe and thank you again

  • hi nice video ,

do you know a site where i can buy these accesories to mount the camera on the gun ,cause i can't find them anywhere

    thank you

  • gonzoopera,

I bought all the hardware at a local hardware store (like a HomeDepot or Lowes). I think you want to put your hands on the hardware in store, and judge the combination!

Good luck, look forward to your U/W videos, Aloha, UnderseaCaveman

  • right on i going do mine tomorrow after a trip ta ace to get all da stuff

  • WestMaui,

ya, get the stainless kine....no galvanized stuffs! Aloha, USCVM

  • of my build up on monday. I did not drill any holes, I build it off a Beuchat Marlin gun. and on the bottom of the trigger handle is a small hole, it was a perfect feet for the 5/16 Stainless steel eye socket, and then did all the mounting, the only thing diffrent than yours is my camera sits lower and has more of a level side view along the gun. thanks again

  • that's awesome....have fun! Look forward to your vid! Aloha

  • finished the dive, all I can say it was awesome, only thing I found that I need to tweak more is the attachment on the camera to the treaded bolt, Im using a nylon wingnut for the moment due to out of stock for the SS one.

  • besides that it worked great. I will post a amature vid monday morning. I shot a nice Mahi. you will see all the action tommorrow. thanks again for all your info. and help. aloha from Kauai

  • Kufd,

Right on....you're on it! Mahi, awesome!

    Aloha from Oahu, USCVM

  • OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was searching long for some vids/info on a camera mount on speargun, your vid was very informative!! awesome, I know you said "you dont own a euro type gun" but if you ever do work on one for a mount, pls post vid. aloha from Kauai, reyts

  • kufd,

thanks for comment, hope it helps....yeah, I may get a Euro gun at some point!

    Aloha, USCVM

  • I actually made my mount today on a euro gun. using all your same materials and technique. I will be trying it out in the water sunday tommorrow as I dive. I will let you know the results. and will post a vid.

  • Very helpful video. I've been chewing over different ideas one how to mount my camera, and this is by far the easiest and least evasive (don't want to drill into my D. Wong Speargun!)

Thanks again, take care and good diving to you!

  • rayban,

copy that....no drilling (if not necessary).

and good diving to you too!

    Aloha, UnderseaCaveman

  • hi mate! great video, can i just ask you one question, what diameter is the nut which screws itself to the camera housing please.

thanks all the way from Malta!

  • schranzmatta,

sorry, just saw your comment (YouTube transitioning, no email for awhile).

It was like a 1/4 inch by 20 pitch thread. Recently, that mount hole (thread inside) wore out (it's made of aluminum, should have been SS 316....manufacturer's booboo). So, I have rethreaded it to a 5/16 inch by 18 pitch thread and replaced the carriage bolt (to gun) to match.

    Aloha, USCVM

  • Do you recomend mounting the camera on top, vs the side

  • ericvid,

I didn't have to drill any holes into my gun, the hole in back was there (so chosen).

I guess my cam is high and to side of gun, I kinda like it there. This way the speargun is off to side in frame when filming, but still there as reference. I would say "experiment", see what looks better.

  • Good idea with the damprid...
