First time Im seeing Simone today and I LOVE HER! I believe this is what Opera used to be about when people would bring their oranges and peanuts to the Theatre and were fully engaged in the whole thing. Really fun and entertaining...Sure sometimes its nice to hear all perfection, but too much perfection gets really boring. I LOVE this performance and would pay sums to see her perform!

Definitely eccentric (look at those heels! : O ) But I think her attitude might be exactly what classical voice needs--someone who can sing excellently and has mastered the technique, but who also can engage the audience and bring them into her enjoyment of the music. I love Kermes' voice, and now her mannerisms are growing on me, too.

@LalaSingsClassics Well, I never said Ms Kermes did not sing the score : she has huge pitch issues (e.g. 5:58, not to mention the properly HIDEOUS downward run at 5:40...) ! That makes a difference ! Go and listen to Dessay's performance in Glyndebourne : that is perfection !

I'm sorry but, I think she's tremendous in baroc music, but there... it's not even, she hides her lacks by acting like that. I feel sorry for her. she's is a good artist, but shouldn't lower herself to do things like that.

@Sorrentodellesirene Sono d'accordo. Non fanno molto per lei i sovracuti, però dal mio modesto parere la trovo molto più a suo agio in un'aria di questo repertorio rispetto alla sua grande passione che é il barocco (Stupende interpretazioni nonostante tutto). ;)
