  • It sounds like Mother music...

  • phoenix downs are merely used for ppl that go KO not from death

when everyone is petrified/paralyzed in a battle its gameover as well as when everyone is knocked out because then ur party is prey to be finished off by the enemy

  • that dumb bitch deserved to die . death to aerith! she can sucka my peepee

  • A real FF Death scene. watch?v=x-pAMCwleLA

  • 0:33

    Sephiroths trollface lololololol

  • Played this game when I was 12. Cried my eyes out at this scene. First video game that I actually played on the PS1. Great game

  • this is funny

  • i did the opposite of cry i laughed. but i still hate cloud for not protecting her like he promised. and i cryed afterwards

  • HOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN LIKE:

CLOUD: SEPHIROTH IS ABOUT TO KILL YOU!

    (AERIS MOVES)

(SEPHIROTH FALL AND BREAKS HIS LEGS)

    CLOUD AND AERIS: LOL!

  • This was the first time a game made me cry. sad but true

  • And they can't use a phoenix down because....

  • @Psyga315 Phoenix downs are for a KO not a death. When Your character falls in battle it is considered unconscious, when they all become KO'd the everyone dies. I'm sure that she wasn't quite dead yet, and someone could have use Heal motherfuckin 3 ..... but eh, story must go on.

    ~JM2

  • I cried for hours after seeing this scene the first time... no I'm crying again...

  • i would've cried if it wasn't for the fact that it would be like crying over a bunch of legos (it was touching except for the graphics)

  • @MrComment999

FF8 made the move to more realistic looking characters, but you could still see how they struggled with the PS1 to do characters.

Love the PS1 though don't get me wrong.

  • lol graphics

  • i remember the first time i watched this part..i was almost gonna cry!

    FF7 my first RPG..gotta love it. :D

  • This is probably the best dialoge in any scene in anything O.o, its really well written.

  • How sad :(

  • Dead Zack after Aeris

  • GAME OVER YEAAAAHHH!

  • i so wanna punch him with my costly punch!!

  • this is one of my favorite parts in the game

  • Hey what other movies of Final Fantasy exist?apart from Advent Children??

  • I find it sad that some FF fans don't even know Aeris or Zack die. I remember reading some comments to the Crisis Core ending and they were like "OMGWTF HE DIES!?"

  • I personally hated her.

  • Comment removed

  • because your a nigger

  • He is a clone of the real person and the reason she is praying is because **SPOILER** She is praying for holy something that can keep the planet safe if sepheroth is able to summon meteor we find out later that she was successful in summoning holy but it was the life force(combined with holy) in the end that saves the planet :D

  • *cough*lifestream*cough*

  • no!!!! aerith...!!!!

  • Does it just bother anyone else on how freakishly long she had to dodge and everyone had to save her?

  • @Drexxin

well she didnt know sephiroth was coming down but i see your point of how much time they had to save her

  • Even though FF7's CGI seems worse and worse as the years go on, this still makes me cry every time I watch it.

Jeez, imagining this with AC graphics...

  • LOL dead bitch.

  • PORN!!!!!

  • haha die bitch

  • is her name Aerith or Aeris?

  • Aerith Gainsborough.

  • it's Aeris if you translate it to proper english, Japanese version is Aerith.

No reason to NOT translate it, as all other names in FF are translated.

  • aeris

  • God in heavens! pain is ever, life is soft. To live smiling we must be smile. Peace In Arms!

  • did you ever go back to the church after aeris dies when you do aeris will be there as a ghost for a second then disappear :O

  • Indeed. But its a bug, mrsims2.

  • Its been Twelve Years since I played this, and this cutscene STILL makes me cry!

  • TToTT

  • ;_; !

  • sephiroth best

  • hey tifa676 i agree with u 2 but im still think about who im goin after

  • I have never played any Final Fantasy game, but I checked out this vid just to try to see what all the fuss was about.

Even after watching it, I'm still completely clueless about the game though.

  • Same with me

  • same here too

  • wtf? why are the graphics so weird LOL!

  • PS1 graphix

  • I actually shed a tear back when I first played the game

  • love it or hate it... its probably the best orchestrated death scene in a video game.

  • @TriggerHappyD Mother 3 ending is better but i don't wanna start a flame war.

  • Cloud doesn't need Aeris, when he has big titty Tifa.

  • Sephiroth is the most evil villain I have ever seen. He has some really sinister lines in this and AC.

  • Sephy is a pussy, Kefka was way more evil.

  • Comment removed

  • lol yeah right. Kefka actually destroyed the world. Sephiroth just has a simulation of it.

Sephy is just a emo puss with pussy reasons to destroy everything. Kefka? He doesn't need a reason, because he's a hardcore clown motherfucker.

  • I agree that kefka was definitely the better villain. He had no motives, no reason in his past for what he did. He was... just plain Evil. Kefka was just downright cruel and dark for no reason, which is why he was probably one of the greatest villains of all time!

Not that there is anything wrong with FFVII, its a great game, just my opinion that FFVI was better is all.

  • Nah, kefka didn't properly destroy the world. Unlike Kuja, who completely wrecked Terra.

  • I forgot... why did The Bastard killed Aeris???

  • Because she had a flat chest.

  • hmm... good point

  • Well its like if your watching a scene of a movie 45 minutes after it begind you watch for 2 minutes then stop you cant really get whats going on. If you refer as to why ppl make a fuss about aeris death well its because some player get attached to her and she just get killed in a cheap way. While i enjoy FF7 its not my favorite RPG and not my favorite FF either. But its a nice game.

  • I still remember the first time I saw this. I found myself yelling "Get out of the way!" before I knew it, and after the stabbing and that scene after it, I found myself in rageful tears. Nothing else, movies, TV, games, has even come close to how this masturfly written game tossed my emotions around.

  • Ill admit that this is sad but it isnt compared to mother 3 saddness at the end and final boss and hinawa scene

  • Boo whoo how sad.. NOT!!!

  • i hated aerith/aeris dying

she had my best armlet & i cant get it back without going thorugh 2 hours of gameplay/cutscenes -.-

also she was the onlt on ewhos limit break was level 4 :o

  • am I the only one that finds sephiroth's appearnces to be a matter of comic relief? there is just something very funny about how that guy swoops around the sky chanting nonsense.

just look at how cloud is holding aeries, sephy's just standing the back looking up at the sky with his arms spread out.

    Sepherioth is FF7's Ultros!

  • i fucking hate wikipedia.

i read 2 fucking sentences of that fucking wikipedia and knew she was going to die before playing the game. -_-

    >_>

    FUCK.

  • ... how do you make it to 2009 as a gamer without knowing that Aeris dies? It's one of the most infamous moments in game history. That's like being surprised at the end of the first level of Mario when the Mushroom guy is all: "your princess is in another castle."

Not to be mean, but I'm honestly curious: I had this ruined for me and I played the game in 1997. I did not have the internet and I was one of two kids in the class with a Playstation and it was *still* not a surprise. o__O

  • Don't worry, its common knowledge by this point. Its filed under "Rosebud was his Sled"

  • i dont mean it in a bad way...

  • i dont like aeris but when i wached her die it made me cry...

  • Why does Seph look like Miss Piggy?

  • I.

    Freaking.

    Lol'd.

    HARD.

  • They couldn't 'Just use a pheonix down', as she was KILLED not KO'ed. Pheonix down revives character that are out cold, not dead. If I was just knocked out after having a 6ft sword thrust through me, I should think myself very lucky indeed.

  • This assertion reaches ridiculous levels when you realize that this is all the characters do to each other during combat, as well as destroy the universe multiple times. >_>

  • This is the saddest moment in the whole Game Story :(

  • I agree. Poor Aeris!

  • stupid, you can't use phoenix down even you try at a thousand times!she's permanently out for the rest of the game!

  • dude he's joking

  • Use a phoenix down!

  • here's two. i only played the third one for DS. i know i should get a look at the GOOD ones but i never really felt like getting around to it. Ocarina of Time for life, baby

  • lol I feel so old, i remember crying at this part like after the first day it came out

  • wait isnt it aerith

  • T_T back in 1998 when i first played this game, i cried the entire battle against Jenova :(

  • i remember playing this at the age of 11 going "Who is going to be my favorite character now? And why did she have to die?"

  • I agree too.I think this has to be the deepest game i've ever played, especially for it's time. The cutscenes were amazing, the gameplay graphics were a bit basic but it didn't matter.I think that this game is the most rememerable FF yet,i think they should re release it for the 360 and ps3,i'd buy it.

  • yes they should remake games like this where they were so awesome that if they had the same sound quality and graphics we have today they would blow most games out of the water

  • This is easily a top 5 game of all-time, regardless of the graphics, or as others would say, lack there of. The fact that many of the true fans can revisit this moment 11yrs later and still connect is insane. Only a select few titles can stimulate the mind and actually cause you to feel for the game. Whether you agree, or disagree, it is within the discretion of the gamer to decide. Thanks for this Vid!

  • I agree with evey thing you jus said

Fuck All Anti Final Fantasy People

    You all Suck Balls

  • Who hates Final Fantasy? Show me one person.

Even I like it, and I played it only once!

  • If you think about it this game came out in 1997, 11 years ago, compare it to other games of that time, all the graphics were the same, if not worse than this!

  • i can't remember, did Cloud know that Aeris and Zack knew each other?

  • Not immediately. Clouds memories were altered and twisted. He had completely forgotten about Zack and lived his life as if he was that character. Throughout the game though, he discovered his true identity and remembered.

  • @lupus (old idc)

Not entirely. Cloud's jenova cells mimicked Zack's personality and Cloud began to act like him. When he met Tifa in the bar, her memories of Cloud were mimicked and they combined with the Zack personality, forming the Cloud you see through a lot of the game.

When Cloud was mako poisoned, his mind collapsed and so did his mixed personality (in mideel). Cloud returned to his normal self after tifa and him fixed his memories.

  • You must have the worst sense of humor ever.

  • That was so horrible. Poor aeris

  • Sephiroth is awesome.

  • How is killing a defenseless girl "awesome"?

  • Sepiroth has done a lot of awesome things, but this is not one of them

  • so, what was Cloud? (poor Aeris)

  • at least she lives in kingdom hearts.

  • I hope nobody actually takes your opinion when they ask about a rating for a video game. I would say that graphics count for maybe 10% of RPG games. Sure, some games (SSB, Soul Calibur, etc.) are all graphics and physics and there isn't much of a plot, so the graphics have to be good.

Take into account the time that this came from, the low cut budget, and the storyline of FF7. Honestly, I love this game dispite the graphics. In 1997, these were all the graphics they could afford. Geez.

  • the graphics are fine and quite good considering when this was made. But you can make a 2d sprite look more realistic dying than this. You don't need good graphics for this to be a good game. And I'm not saying it's bad either. I'm saying it's overrated, which you have proved by quickly jumping to disprove me, like many others have done before to others like me.

  • In actuality, the graphics for FFVII were not the top. S.E. was on the verge of bankrupcy and these are the graphics they can afford, unlike Mario Kart, Gran Turismo, etc. FF7 had pretty bad graphics, even for the time period.

By your first comment it seemed like you were insinuating that FF7 was a bad game *because* of the graphics. Yeah, I would agree on some level that it's a little overrated (The fans that go on for hours ranting and raving), however I still think it's a good game.

  • Yeah, I meant it's not as good as everyone says (overrated) not just because of the graphics but also other things I won't go into now. However, remember that graphics are still a very major part of a game, unlike how some would have others believe.

  • As i omit the argue meant this was so sad the first time i saw it, it is one of the most epic and saddest ones in gaming history,

  • Wow, a bunch of idiots just argued over whether it's Aeris or Aerith. Who won? Neither of them, that's for damned sure. I mean damn guys. Wow

Anyways, whether or not it's right, I still think Aeris sounds better than Aerith, sooooo whatever. Though the first time I played this (I was like 13) I renamed her after my sister at her insistence, and I still get confused to this day

  • the most tragic cutscenne in the history of games

  • lol i was suprised the first time i saw it and i freaked out(i got it and beat it when i was 7 yrs old)

  • Thats some pritty lame ass grafics. Its so bad i thought Cloud was T-baging her when he was shakeing her.

  • whats up with the gloves

  • Isn't she in Kingdom hearts aswell?

  • yes, under her REAL name aerith. Aeris was a mistranslaton. Square enix decided to bring her into Kingdom hearts.

  • you guys are retarded, Aeris is not a mistranslation. When you translate from different character alphabets there are different versions of translation. Another good example of this is Chinese translation. In Latin lettering you can spell Cao-Cao as Tsao-Tsao as well.

  • it is a mistranslation. If you think Im wrong, stop giving examples and give a valid reason why they would change her name. And to say I'm retarded... thats not just insulting but unfair to people who actually ARE retarded.

  • The examples were the reasons. I've taken a Japanese language and culture course. They didn't change her name at all. Aerith and Aeris are both correct, its just two different ways of translating the characters.

And as for the retarded part, are you saying that you are so less intelligent than a retarded person that they'd feel insulted to be considered as stupid as you?

  • You seriously have problems. There is really no need to insult me in any way. You can see that I'm not stupid otherwise I wouldn't have the capability to write this.

I'm still standing by what I've read. It was a mistranslation. If you can prove I'm wrong, I will accept it, WITHOUT INSULTING ANYONE.

  • I've already told you an example and that there used to be two ways of translating japanese characters. I really can't make it blunter than that. If you are still sticking by what you originally said than I can do nothing but call you retarded.

Speaking again of retardation, if you stand by what you've read it means you agree with me. Further, stupid people have been known to write on occasion. Just look at the internet, plenty of stupid people writing on it.

  • Seriously, what is wrong with you?No matter how many times you call me "stupid" or "retarded" im still going to stick with my theory.Ive come across this subject many times and each time we've come to the conclusion that it was a mistranslation.Sure, you can insult me,but I'm not going to sink to your level and insult you in return.

Please, just accept that we have our own views and stop this argument. You seem determined to start an argument, but Im going to be mature enough to stop this.

  • This isn't an opinion poll so views don't matter. Nor is this a dogmatic enough topic to warrant a, "we have differing views..." line. And this isn't something important enough to warrant a "theory" nor something unprovable enough. And if you were mature enough to stop this you would have never replied again. The only reason to reply is to show boat some sort of perceived maturity or morality. So if you really do agree that I can insult you then stop bitching when I call you a retard.

  • For the record as well, by bringing up that you are so "mature" you have issued an implied insult. Which is saying that I am immature. So you have as you say, "sunk to my level." So you are both a hypocrite and a liar.

  • WHAT THE HELL!

I just got your message you sent me. So I send a polite reply. Then I see you've commented back and insulted me AGAIN.

    DROP IT DUDE.

and to call me a hypocrite and a liar.. thats just harsh. I don't see where Ive lied, and you can't call me a hypocrite based on what you thought was an implied insult.

Oh, and judging by your page, Im not the first person you've annoyed.

  • well I wrote those prior to the message so time table was a little floppy for ya, srry bout that.

  • okay, i accept your apology.

  • Come on it was on the ps1 and it was an awesome game shut the fuck up

  • Come on, who DIDN'T see that coming? ;/

  • ok, in crisis core cloud killed sephiroth, but then this haoppens after crisis core so were the heck did speh come from?!

  • he didn't kill him... sephiroth never dies...

  • iv never played this game so someone fill me in here-

why did aeris just get pwned???

  • Aeris!? Noooooo!

  • your horrible...*sniff*

  • goddam das cold......u cold as fuk

  • i think they should remake the game with better features for ps2 and 3 and psp

  • very sad moment

  • This was probably the most iconic and brilliant moment in gaming history.

  • Shit i was 12 when i first made it up to that part and o almost cried...Also the boss after the scene...He faced my wraith;/

  • saddest part ever

  • Soo Sad whyd she have to die.

  • yeh i never got to the end of this game that was sad! i hate seporith either tho in crisis core hes actually condersid a hero well before he lost hes marbles lol but yeh i liked aeris and idk i doubt aeris and cloud would have got togther she loved zach and weither cloud tifa admit it or not they liked each other tho when i was little i barely understand storyline and i was hoping that cloud and aeris would get togther lol

  • I was shocked when I saw this the first time. Because I had gotten use to the sacrificial hero thing in other games but I never imagined they would kill Aeris off.

  • I don't know love in this game is kind of a mystery. But yeah "I" think that if she survived their would have been something between them. Tifa has feelings for Cloud but as it said in the manual she would never admit it. And remember she mentioned she dated someone like Cloud, and in that Town she met up with Zack's parents for the first time. But she never told Cloud his name.

  • the is my second all times favorite part of this game my first is when cloud does his ultimate move on sephiroth and kills him

  • this scene..I am so sad now..when I played it...I wish Aeris could come back somehow..for clouds sake...

  • She got OWNED!

  • saddest part

  • I played the game, but I never got if Cloud loved Aeris or not. Didn't he know that she was his best friend's girlfriend?

  • Cloud did not love Aeris... in fact, he was pretty annoyed with her throughout the game, though I do know that he had mixed feelings about her, and Tifa as well, hence the love triangle.

  • thanx ^.^

I don't think ppl liked my coment very much tho :(

  • but she is so fun to be with and i miss her idea of making cloud dress like a girl.

  • Aerith's a great girl to be with :) I mean, she made Cloud laugh. But it was still a Love Triangle. And he cross dressed for Tifa, right? Lmao, that made me laugh too :)

  • Oh boy, THE scene in the history of cinematic video gaming.

No you can't bring her back!

  • Is there anyway to save her?

  • FF7 had good graphics for a 1997 game, not that good though, let's not talk about that now, I cried when I first saw this. Sooo Sad! Now to this day, I just almost cry. One of the most shocking moments in video games.
