@DaysforDays Shadowrun is an actual RPG. Those games that you gather with friends, make your character on the paper and begin to make a role in a story, like Dungeons & Dragons, to be more specific. (XD)
So, the games are just based on the original Shadowrun RPG, that's why they don't seem to be linked in any way. They tell different stories, but use the same background.
I need some assistance about SHADOWRUN... My Combat Sense Spell Lock ... I use a Shaman, and it works for him in offense with weapons/etc, however my PROTECTION Talisman does NOT seem to beef up his defense. I'm confused. Does any Shadowrun expert have any idea about this? Please help! Thanks.
i had to look this up just to find out what it was like. i had the troll or the orc, can't remember witch, just punch him to death in the half a second it took for the combat loading screen to switch over. just like
This is an awesome game, few "next-gen" games can get close to the level of depth and story quality this game had,
And I put "next gen" on quotes because while gaming has been made a whole lot prettier, it's only looks, most of them are shitloads with no story or brain at all.
When games like Shadowrun were made, gaming development was considered an art and done almost exclusively for the love for the game, today is just a business for white-collar bastards!
You see buddy, when this game was made, which is like 15 years ago more or less, those were pretty decent graphics.
And this game strong point is not the graphics, is the storyline and the characters that bring the game to life with an story telling level that nowadays is hard to find.
Today games all look pretty, that's for sure, but very few of them have a story worth telling. And, unless it's a Quake 3 arena game where the only objective is to blow shit up, a good game needs a good story
@Estmaraver what are u some kind of game hipster? there was a fuck ton of bad games then with a few good titles and a fuck ton of bad games now with a few good titles
Why couldn't the 360 Shadowrun game have been this great? The Snes Shadowrun is great, too & has its own storyline which was also much better than the new game. First person shooters have been done to death & the 16 bit Shadowrun games are setup like Shadowrun should be...an action futuristic dark cyberpunk rpg. They should go by the Sega Genesis Shadowrun as a roughdraft to work by if they ever make another Shadowrun game. Hell they can use its storyline even...it is still dark & awesome today!
because microsoft is about making gmaes that are enjoyed by mindless drones who enjoy shooting at the same stuff for hours and hours -- example: halo.
a gamefaqs will tell you to join the yakuza to buy the best armour, but i say join the mafia to get discounts. with a high appraisal(sp?) skill you can buy stuff from the crime mall, only to sell them back for a profit. guess which item to buy...
anyways, joining the yakuza will make mafia cronies throw grenades at you when you'rre in their turf. not good.
A side note though, I would probably cry my eyes out for hours if they ever made a multiplayer version of this game... Ahhhhh, that would be the greatest. The Xbox 360 game is badass, but nothing like this. Haha.
Oh, I always cyber Winston to the gills with muscle replacements, wired reflexes, and dermal armor. He's a beast and very underrated. Most FAQs say he's shitty too, but what do they know? They probably aren't aware of his awesome potential when it comes to Body and Strength, heh.
I never liked being a shaman, I just never had a good tactic to being one, haha. I heard if you had three runners with fully upgraded MG's, full firearms stats, and as made as strong as possible, that you could kill Thon before the dragon came in, freezing the game, haha. Well done!
The best way to actually damage Thon is to boost up your strength, melee combat, load up on muscle replacement and wired reflexes and get some spurs and just punch the shit out of him, though I've never actually killed him or had the game freeze for that matter.
I did the art on the Creature blasting at the end. Thanks for posting this. Actually I'm all over this particular game. Animation and interface. Nothing great. But the people responsible for designing it had a great love for the material. The old Blue Sky days. Before Vectorman came out and Sega bought the company
I don't get why both versions hint when you clear them that there is a sequel to the games I mean the snes version TELLS YOU THERE'S A SEQUEL when it never happened! and is this game on virtual console on the wii cause if it is I'm buying both versions(genesis version looks harder thought)
This video brings back fond memories. Like bestevus said, the only things that comes close is fallout 1 and 2. This is one of my all time favorites and I would love to see this game rereleased on one of the newer consoles. unfortunately the new shadowrun is an fps.
Yeah, the genesis and snes versions were both great games. A cyberpunk rpg was exactly the type of shit I was looking for back then, and both delivered, although they were very different in story, design, and format aside from the central themes. The only thing I've played since then that smacked of these classics was Fallout 1 and 2, two games that to me represent the following generation of the Shadowrun legacy. And, may there be another.
I also added this one to my collection on my E-bay craze. People are sacrificing good gameplay and great ideas for graphics......why haven't they come out with a decent sequel since 8 bit technology?
It is based in the same fiction. Pretty much the sega game was an RPG that had you taking side queststs for money and experiance. Probably my favorite game ever. ending sucked though.
This is the most awesomeist game ever conceived!! You rarely today see games with such depth. Also, did yall know the famous comic book artist Alex Ross did the artwork for the game? Fucking marvelous!!
The best console RPG, ever. I spent three months on this game back when it came out. Was my senior year of High School. Really good memories. Advice to the video maker: Mars is better used as a hand to hand guy. Build up his strength, muscle replacements, get the bigger claws, he does more damage that way then with any gun.
Great goodness, the memories. For some people, their "big game" was one of the Breath of Fires or the Final Fantasy's, but for me, it was Shadowrun for Sega.
Yeah, The genesis one is more accurate to the RPG. Though I definitely liked the engine, graphics and music on the SNES better. I think maybe if they actually did make a shadowrun II for the snes, like they planned, that they could've fixed the inaccuracies that the the original had. But that's only a dream. >.>
wow..it's been a long time. i'm not into gaming but this thing was something. sad that MS messed it up big time with their crap xbox release...i was hoping for a really killer rpg and they bring out an FPS...
Based on the books I would have to say the sega genesis one would be closest to the real thing. Snes one was pretty good but some aspects of gameplay didn't make all that much sense though the bosses where nice. The xbox one doesn't really seem to be shadowrun at all, it looks like a fps with magic attacks and guns pretty much. If they made a GTA style game with aspects from genesis and parts from the snes such as their bosses then that would be a winning combination.
@Zeanion If you guys love shadowrun for snes and sega search on google for abandon tomorrow flash game - its a rpg inspired from shadowrun and it can be played straight from browser , no download required. Haill shadowrun! PS: if you help the game with a good rating developers gona make a contiune to it.
Still my favorite game of all time. Period.

The genesis one has much better graphics but is short and easy. The SNES one is hard and long, but had terrible graphics and was frustrating.

SNES Shadowrun had a better story. This one had better combat and magic and a better depiction of the Matrix. Both had endings that sucked.

The 360 game shouldn't have been called shadowrun its misleading its ok for what it is but it isn't a rpg.
