im a member of GMMES and i think that this loco needs at lest 1 injector and a slightly lager firebox door because to me that looks too small and as i saw was a bit tricker to get the coal wear u want but it dose need an injector because at are club u at lest need 3 ways to get the water in to the boiler
Doing what you love.... Its probably the best hobby in the world! there's something to cool for school about coal fired engines! Do any of you know where you can get one in Canada?
@balak121. For this money you could buy a reasonable second hand lathe and milling machine and the materials to build a small loco. It is very gratifying, but takes a long time. I built a Maisie a Sweet Pea and a petrol driven 0 6 0 shunter which I designed myself. Then a vertical boiler to run a stationary oscillating engine.
just wondering it the loco dose have such a wide firebox why is the firebox door quite small could it be build with a wider box door to get the side's of the firebox ??
thankyou. love these small engines and have spent all weekend runing them actually. want to buy my own but sadly we dont have the smaller track. we are 7.5 gauge.
i see your point i run live steam 5"&7.5" at the bath and west railway but i just cant afford to do it and its a good 30 min drive to the nearest line to run on:(
mail the guy you may be ble to get his in the usa for a little bit more than normall cos of shipping costs etc but it probably can be delivered to you
yes we can, we have a open day every summer and people are welcome to come along and try locos for them selves. We also have a railway available for our own use so if you can't wait until summer let us know and we can sort something out. Call us on 01580 893030
I have been looking to get into these live steam model trains but Ive been wondering, how do you controll them after they have been lit and they are on there way?

did you have to build all of your loco's? and the traks?
TheJamster10 3 months ago
Injectors in this size are unreliable, especially when fed hot water from a saddle tank.
You need two feed systems not three

Alice does about 4mph at a steady pace, will go a lot faster. Use anthracite or other smokeless fuel.

When you draw the fire at the beginning, can you use the blower instead of the electric fan? P.S. Great Vid. :) Alice looks awesome.
KnapfordMaster98 1 year ago
@KnapfordMaster98 useing a fan is make quicker and when u get 20 on the pressure gauge u take it off and use the blower on loco
