The evidence for history — any history — that occurred two millennia ago is hazy at best, and falsified at worst. The bible is no different. The "click" you talk about is people begining to successfully delude themselves into experiencing things that are not real. As you state: you can't view god as true with evidence because there is no evidence. Would take it on faith if I told you there was an invisible teapot floating between the earth and mars? I think not, and if you did I'd be worried.
Knowledge is justified true belief. It requires that you have facts, and it requires empirical tto do so. What you have is a belief about god, not knowledge of it. We know that gravity is a reality, but we do not know if string theory is real, as there has not been enough data to justify it as a knowledge claim.
In every religion commercial or stuff like that, there's always a picture of a round-shaped sphere called earth, even if one thousand years ago, many people were killed in the name of god for telling that the earth isn't flat.
You know the Eternal Almighty exists because He has revealed the truth of His existance in humans. Rmns 1:19. This is the general revelation that is given to all men. Most people mistake this general revelation as salvation, it's not. The people who make this mistake nearly always end up teaching, preaching and taking on the role of blind guide.
like they have no power and that the so called god has all the power and will punish u if ur dont follow the rules or challange him. there are however some useful and truthull elements in most religions however it is important to understand that there is no such thing as a god or gods who are seprate from us up in the clouds controlling and punishing us the real god is me and its u and its every consiosus thing on the planet we are infenetly powerfull creatures
historical evidence show that all modern religion are simply copied from earlier religions and most modern religions were designed to control people to keep the people in power in powe and keep the majority obediant by telling them that if they dont follow the rules they will go to hell so they were diesigned to control people through fear and there goal was to make the people feel seprate from a single god
How am I afraid to try if I SAID I USED TO BE CHRISTIAN?!?!?!? >:/
Sure, simply believing there is a god won't do any harm to anyone. It will make no difference in my life whether there is an invisible dude watching me or not.
But, it is the bible that will corrupt a person's mind. That's mess I've already tossed aside.
The fool says in his heart there is no God. Yet, we don't have to take the Bible's word for it. Einstein said, "God does not play dice." Socrates, Aristotle, Plato and Hermes were all devoutly religious men in their society and so attested in their writings. Many of the founding fathers of the American government were ordained ministers. Thomas Jefferson (who many suggest was agnostic) actually hosted church services in the White House. If the wisest who lived believe in God...?
aterseraph- i dont need any of your dillusional beliefs and half arsed facts to try and persuade me that there is some divine power that created all we know. u go ahead and hold on to stories that give you hope because the fact is not one person can actually say they KNOW god exists, nor can someone be sure he doesnt but i believe he doesnt. surely the not knowing is where the hope realy lies
i hate it when he refers to the bible. lets put into perspective what the bible actually is. a book of stories that have been told and written over a long period of time. now human nature alone wud mean that those stories wud change all the time. i cud tell a story in a stadium and it wud sound completely different by the time it got back to me. so if this is the book in which christians base there belief then you can only smile at there ignorance.
@hillsonwheels1 Your point is invalid; there are more copies of the books of the bible than any other historical text or narrative...thousands of them. These same copies, attest to the validity of the others, and confirm what each says, including the scrolls found in Qumran (the dead sea scrolls). So, your point is incorrect. I guess Christians can smile at your ignorance of Biblical scholarship....fail dude...
Four common sense reasons why I think there is no god; A) Total absence from the natural world. No sign of a god, before, during or after, natural disastres B) The absolute absence of favoritism towards believers. Even chruches need lightning-rods to protect them from god. C) The absence of any reaction, when crimes are committed in his name. D) The suffering of the innocent. One could accept that the guilty must suffer, but children ???
I don't disagree that there are signs in nature, but I'm not sure about all the historical evidence of the resurrection. Spectators were gullible back then.
@rhysandrews I don't know if you're aware of this, but over a million people have watched Chris Angel levitate from building to building. As for your well documented evidence, please cite at least two non-biblical sources from credible historians.
@philnoll Lighten up, man. I was just suggesting one of the events in the Bible, wanted to know your thoughts on it. I'm no historian and so I'm not going to give you sources because I can't do any of it justice. Ask someone who has a bit more credibility.
@rhysandrews Its cool. I'm light. If you want my thoughts, it was the apostle Paul who introduced the doctrine of the resurrection, and the gospels were all written 70-150 years later to give it some credibility. It doesn't really bother me because I think the resurrection is a spiritual metaphor, and its evidenced by the lasting impact that it left.
A classic case of circular reasoning, a formal logical fallacy, in which the proposition to be proved is assumed implicitly or explicitly in one of the premises.
This is the answer of someone who has no answer. Carson is a brilliant scholar in many ways, but this is just pious-sounding irrationalism. Very sad, but I guess it's what passes for an answer nowadays among many Christians.
Well put Don Carson. Humility is so much the key. People are afraid to be duped if they humble themselves before God. The irony is that only until you are humbled can God make you wise.

@EmpireBasejumper Well put... Science field?
I don't deny there is a god, or "creator," but the lack of evidence to prove this theory, is just not there..

LOL simple pleads from ignorance.
The pleads from ignorance you use now are no more valid than the ones used before.
God makes lightning, storms, floods, god pulls the sun across the sky.
After all it could be nothing else!

But, now I'm like, what....tha... o.o?
SERIOUSLY???
THAT was your answer?
You baisically said:
God exists. If you question his existence, then you don't believe. So, in order to know that God exists, you have to believe he exists.
WTF???

@Vessoland YOUR JUST AFRAID TO TRY..

IT WONT DO YOU HARM.. JUST TRY TO BELIVE AND YOU WILL SEE THE BEAUTY AND LOVE OF GOD...JUST BELIEVE.

Dear atheists:
1.) The wave-function of the universe is self-collapsing. (true by definition)
2.) Self-collapsing wave-functions are minds. (Roger Penrose's quantum mind model -Orch-OR)
Conclusion: watch?v=Kj8UdHuP5l8
Well what do you know about that! ;)

He has no arguments whatsoever, because there are no arguments.
