  • superb

  • i'm amazed at how talented she is, and she is still flexible. she's just not at that age where it's easy to do all of that stuff, but she is able to do it pretty much perfectly...

  • Good throws. But sadly not as flexible as before and her pivots are also not what they were:-( Oh well, she will always be remebered for sydney.

  • sie war schon immer etwas kräftig! :D

  • @h2oRikki2 , va?

  • @h2oRikki2 sie ist nicht kräftig;D

das sind muskeln die man leider nie mehr (nicht mehr so schnell )losbekommt!

    .

  • @katruca Патетический??Но что вы говорите?Это экстраординарно!Вы имеете большое количество зависти

  • she's so clumsy and unstable...she looks "heavy" in all her jumps

  • как называется эта музыка???

  • Paya d'Ora / Пайя д'Ора

  • cool! the commentators said that alina thought of back scale turn one day and showed viner.. wow now it is like a major element!

  • She had 18'125 no 18'300 or 18'800!

  • Didn't she retire?

  • Yes las years she retired in Jenuary

  • A mi no me parece k estuviera patetica cmo dice mucha gente.Ya era + mayor y es normal que fuera a peor pero no estaba pateticaa. Seguiia cn su alegriia y energiaa!! =)

  • suahsuhaushaush...Horrible...So many mistaes...

  • so sad, there will never be someone like her again. wish she did not stop!!:( love her anyway

  • YOU'RE kidding me...She lost the hoop and still got 18.800;;;; aushaushuashuahsuahsuahs

    RG is all about money...

  • This is a small event, no international judges, obviously she would try to perform better on international events.

  • She's a Beutiful girl, and one Excelent Ginast !!!

  • great!!

  • Ela já foi boa!

Agora ela só tem nome... =]

  • i love her smile =D

  • I cannot believe that she dropped the hoop! :O

  • God does the commentator EVER stop talking!

  • It's a russian commentator. :D Of course not.

  • Huh? I don't get if that is supposed to be a compliment or an insult!

  • Just a fact. Russian commentators never shut up.

Some think that's good, some others don't.

  • I cannot believe she dropped her hoop.

  • I, like many who followed her career, feel she was robbed of 2 Olympic golds! In 96 both Gold and Silver went to athletes with OBVIOUS drops and her routines were every bit as difficult and she was CLEAN for all of her performances.

In 2000 She had more technical content than Barsukova (Gold) and Raskina (Silver) and of course Kabaeva had the drop in her hoop exercise. It was sad that from the start it was clear the judges were underscoring Vitrichenko.

  • Oh I completely agree, it SHOULD be judged on the merits of the performance at hand... but we all know by now (espeically after what happened to Vitrichenko's career) that it is not the case at all. Judging scandal sadly is just part of the way that it works. I did what Vitrichenko did, quit worrying about results and started just enjoying the performances... it may not fix the problems, but it sure makes it less upsetting.

Thats why I went Pro and only do profesional engadgments.

  • Oh I NEVER disputed that fact! That was way overscored by any measure... still, reputation plays a huge role in this sport and when you have someone like her who has been responsible for the direction the sport has taken... they are going to be more generous with her. Its the "Celebrity factor" you know her, your more familiar with her and you know what her body of work entails... and that does influence the judges

  • Oh I agree she gets favored unfairly by the judges quite alot... I do not dispute that at all. What I am saying is simply that she has made alot of contributions to the sport itself, and that is why she gets alot of the support she does. But it is true she does get over-scored... so do all Irina Viner's girls!

  • Yes, that I completely agree with. However also remember Irina Viner is also NOTORIOUSLY very harsh on all her athletes and pushes them SOOO hard that it seems like ALL of her girls have problems with CONSISTENCY! (one would assume it is becuase she puts too much pressure on them, much more than they an handle)

  • This is true what you say... but also remember she WAS the one who pioneered ALOT of the standard skills of todays competition, like the Layback spin, the Back Illusion turn, and alot of the "hands-free handling" movements... those werent done before she really hit the scene in 98... now they are required elements, and those ARE hers. She did change the way the game is played.

  • she dropped her hop n still gets a score of 18.300..????

  • 18.300??was the hoop out of the floor???it seems it was beyond the red line!!

  • I have to say that there were not much tango in that composition or in her expression.. Not good, for such a good gymnast. :(

  • There sure are a lot of dumb comments on this video...

One of the many reasons why Alina is overscored... She repeated a difficulty in this routine. She did a 360 deg Back Scale Pivot from the floor twice in that routine. A repeated difficulty should not count as having any value.

  • i think that the age is not a limit....look almudena cid....she is best now than her begining

  • the best of the best

  • dang y is everyone like writing a pargagraph? anyways, it was a nice routine.

  • well the age limit for rg at the olympics is 25! and she turns it next year so if she does happen to compete it will without a doubt be her last):

  • Why is there an age limit?

  • thres an age limit cause u cant do rg forever.lol. no but seriously theres a time where u cant do this sport anymore cause ur getting olde rand its harder and harder to do routines and be so flexible. 25 is the age where u start feeling thos changes so u cant continue anymor.e theres no point of competing if ur not gnna be good enough

  • But are they actually not ALLOWED to compete after 25? Or isit just that they physically can't?

    XxX

  • their not allowed

  • there is no age limit to compete in RG, Almudena Cid went to Beijing at age 28.

  • There is no maximum age limit for the Olympics in any sport.

  • yes there is! no 60 year old is gnna go to the olympics! theres a point where ur body cant take anymore

  • Wow there really is an age limit?! That's strange... In AG there i no age limit...

    XxX

  • there is no age limit to compete in RG, Almudena Cid went to Beijing at age 28.

  • oo i know i kinda realized that.lol. but yea i heard that there was one thats y

  • @Imthecuteone yeah and she was awesome but obviously she wasn't like in her golden years, the best of Almudena at this point was her confidence

  • I want her to be in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but if it means she'll keep on making these mistakes, I don't want her to finsih on a low. Perhaps she should have retired in 2004 on a high with the Olympic gold, and not come back. x

  • Alina is an amzing gymnast but as I watch her most recent routines, I worry that she's becoming a tad sloppy. In almost all of her 2006 and 2007 routines, she's making silly little mistake that cost points. True, she's still got her amazing flexibility and unique and imaginative routines, but I feel that because she knows the judges are biased and favour her, she can get away with it.

  • i think its great that she is proud competing with her new shapely body but....IRINA WAS A MUCH BETTER GYMNAST and deserved the gold and totally needs to come back for the 2008 olympics....alina is just not as graceful but props to her on gaining weight i think thats a huge step in the right direction for this sport!!

  • i just read someone say she wins for completing her elements..well..she may do that but she completly forgets the elegance at the same time..which is also really important.its time fo her to retire in my opinion..she seems to chase after her appuratus like she doesnt know where its going to end.she also seems to lose them a few times..shes a great gymnast but i think shes too old now

  • your all absolutely right about her being fantastic...oh wait, were u all too busy writing those comments at 44seconds?

  • She may not be the most consistant, but the handling of the aparatus is still outstanding. As for her body shape, I am glad to see WOMEN competing... with SHAPES on their bodies! It may not be fashionable, but not every human being is a lanky fashion model, and she is shaped like a healthy human female should be. As someone who has the more Bessonova-like "elongated" shape, I am actually a little envious of her curves!

  • That's it!!!

  • Alina might have gained a couple of puonds but that makes her a great role model. u know??? i mean like shes not overweight she weighs just right for her age. she is healthy. She just shows how a normal weight gymnast can win the gold. u dont have to be skinny to win or to do good.I LUV ALINA!!!

  • Well, Lishanh, Alina is a WOMAN, she can't stay skinny forever, like Vale for instance. She often has to drink water only and eat a little rice...and work really hard at the same time!

  • i miss her old performance though.....it'd be great if she can lose the weight she gained over these years.

  • all those ppl who say shes overscored or she wins first place because the judges cheat r obviously very clueless!!! She gets first because she completes her elements. If u guyz knew anything about sport u would've known that!!!

  • as if you could do better mysticlullaby

  • no offense claudiss89, but you have to REALLY know rhythmic gymnastics. Alina gets a high score because her moves are clean, same or not. She does full moves, which raises execution. She smiles, she loves what she's doing. She has confidence in her moves, and she has a LOT of bonuses in her routines.

  • I'm afraid, you're a bit mistaken. Alina's potential is endless. Her coach says Kabaeva can perform until the age of 40. No doubt, the name matters, but if you watch all the competitions attentively, you'll see she is still much better than the others, who just can't stand the pressure.

  • Hahahahaha what a silly drop!Dear, you'd better retire!.

  • I just can't wait whe she will quit....

She don't have enything new in her routines, they are all the same(the same elements just in another order)

And her mistakes are just OMG

So why the hell she get's high score(I think becouse of her name..;/)

In past she won everything now her condition is getting down..

    Ps.Sorry for my English :)

  • if u check 2.03-2.06 youll see she is doing some unusual handling with a part of her back! so no, it was not a silly drop, i bet this isnt an easy thing to do.

  • Just pathetic.

  • Alina says: ' I think my programme is very good this season, very strong and emotional, which is the most important. I like the music I chose with Irina Aleksandrovna (Alina's coach). So, I have to work. The beginning of the season...There's nothing to worry about...We'll go on working. As for the technical components and elements - I've done them all. I failed some trifle things which don't bring a high score. As for the elements, I succeeded. Thanks to them I got a high score.

  • Does anyone know what she is saying? x

  • yo tmb

  • i luv her
