  • haha good luck, driving on that where i live

  • do you know how much money does it cost to put vegetables as combustible

  • BIODIESEL SUX

    Normal Diesel ROX

  • We're are going to run out of the tough 80s era MBs that can run veggie. New diesel engine technology for petrodiesel has been forced on us by the EPA and Peoples Republic of California that is only petrodiesel compatible. Biodiesel and veggie oil are too thick for the new wave of 11,000 psi CDI fuel injections systems needed to pass the Tier 2 Bin 5 emission standards. This is why manufacturer's cover only diesel fuel up to 5% biodiesel - big F'in deal. Thanks BigEnvironment

  • you can run the bigger injectors and get a programmer to reset your cpu to run SVO like they do in Germany !!!!

  • Or, Californians could vote for realists and have policies that don't make passenger cars emit pure oxygen while the ancient semi with a 10 liter engine next to them belches soot like a coal locomotive. The way they make the laws out there that they impose on the rest of America, you know the politicians are being grease by the trucking lobby. And BTW - why should I have to retrofit a new car to run biodiesel? We should be demanding tax credits for home brew biodiesel investment.

  • I think you have great ideas. Run for a public office.

  • 2008 will be the year of the Diesel engine in the US. I too want to get a diesel engined car so that i can run biodiesel, but veg oil?? I think biodiesel is more refined than veg oil!

  • And how much does a gallon of veg oil cost? Lets see 18,000 children a day die everyday around the world due to low nutrition.

  • maybe you would have them eat gasoline? I don't get your logic. it's not lack of food that keeps people starving, it;s lack of political will. So get off your computer, go to YOUR cause and do something about it.

  • Good, they can come here and push my Mercedes-Benz around and I'll feed them waste vegetable oil from McDonalds. How many kids to the mile can I get?

  • Oil from animal fats gives you roughly the same milage as veggi oil.

  • Oil from animal fats makes inferior biodiesel with a higher gel temperature as does palm and coconut oil (donuts). Canola and soy make good biodiesel. As far a politics, screw it - buy a VW diesel and make your own BD if you have any left over, bootleg it.

  • I still think you should consider running for a local public office. Your community most likely needs someone with energy and ideas. It seems like you have both.

  • Beneath commenting on

  • In the past 2years, as renewable energy has catapulted to the forefront of the national agenda, there are many unanswered questions. How will increasingly large ethanol plants and wind farms fit into the rural landscape? Who will own them? In their desire to expand renewable-energy production, activists and policymakers focus almost entirely on "more," rather than "better."

  • Communitywork, do you know how many acres of unused farmland the gov pays farmers NOT TO FARM. Do you know how many acres abandoned in our inner cities could be utilized for local food production and jobs? You "activists" wouldn't let the oil companies drill or refine, not you are complaining about the alternatives - shut off your computer, you are wasting energy, stop breathing your CO2 emission is ruining the planet - go kill yourself now! Mother Earth wants you DEAD!

  • The vegetable oil either comes from the regular grocery store (just like the kind you cook with) or used vegetable oil from resturants which is filtered.

  • And where does vegetable oil come from?
