Yes Suzanne is gorgeous.

It's when you fall in that her versions of the great songwriter's songs are sublime that you realise what a great artist she was.

I never saw Nina live, but I have about 40 CDs and LPs.

@legrandmaitre I am a white Australian from Melbourne & had the luck to see Nina perform live at a small club called the Ram Jam Club(which still exists) in Brixton,London,England.

She was amazing & had the crowd(mainly black) in the palm of her hand.If they were tallking too loudly while she was singing,she would put her finger up in the air & they would shut up.

Try to listen to her version of Suzanne,it is stunning.

Few people realize that Cotton Eyed Joe is an old southern lullaby. A person was called "cotton eyed" when his irises were a milky white. I have loved Nina Simone for many years and one of my favorite songs is "I Loves Ya Porgy."
