get this: i'd messed up the controls on zsnes so i had no idea that select brought up the evolution menu. i basically got to nearly the last screen on the fish stage without any power ups.

@terrasweet this is the most stupid question ever, but how do i choose which slot to load on zsnes? if I only saved in-game.. I can only find how to save, but I wanna load, and not start over everytime XD

@IntestinalVermin usually (in zsnes at least) you just go to game -> save state, and then game -> open state when you want to load. game -> pick state chooses the save slot.

It's one of those games Enix made in the mid 90s that's good despite itself...walking back and forth eating frogs SHOULDN'T be fun, but I've beaten this game a solid 20 times or so and will surely do it again.

a tip for the fish area; when you reach the area past the first jellies, buy an Angler horn. The angler horn lures all the fish in the area towards you automatically. it's great for early grinding. (doesnt work on jellies)

A true gem, and sadly overlooked by some. A GREAT platformer, very unique game mechanic using evolution to customize your character, and an excellent soundtrack.

The soundtrack was composed by Koichi Sugiyama, the same composer who worked on all the games in the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior series. To truly appreciate his work, check out his symphonic suites (performed by live orchestra) for the Dragon Quest games... they are outstanding! =)
