  • would suck, if it got clouded for a long period of time

  • times up gotta go! PWNT

  • I heard some of these massive ships may reintroduce ultra light sails. since an average speed is 12knots, sometimes 7knots on pure windpower maybe more efficient.

  • I doubt it will happen. Sails are a huge hassle, even if they're computer controlled they have to be repaired and it's just much easier and cheaper to stick with propellers.

  • when you buy a Prius, you have to factor in the immense amount of diesel it took to ship the car to you.

    It is a significant amount.

I am unsure if it breaks even or not.

    (does anyone here know?)

  • Don't forget the chemicals used in making the batteries.

  • or "A SQUARE IRRIGATION SPRINKLER" Because almost every garden or park is square and with the circular ones you lose water in the edges and get the paviment (or the people) wet! I remember when you were really consern about water issues!

Well! I hope you get better and start to public better ideas, not just "every idea"

    Greatings from Tampico Tamaulipas Mexico!

  • Why don't you put a video on "AN INVENTION FOR NOT SHOWERING WITH WATER" So we can save water! or "AN INVENTION FOR NOT WASHING DISHES WITH WATER" for the same objective! or "A SHOT FOR EVERY ONE WHEN THEY BORN FOR WHEN THEY TASTE DRUGS (marihuana, cocaine, etc) THEY HATE IT!" the problem is not the ones who sale it, are the ones who buy it! or "A PROJECTOR OF THOUGHTS" because when you imagine something you see it in your mind! Whit this everyone would see!

  • If you put wind turbines on the ship, wouldn't it slow the ship down if it's traveling against wind? I doubt the energy generated can offset the expense.

Might as well put sails on them LOL. Best just power these things with nuclear.

  • dude, OBVIOUSLY the wind turbines are to be extended when the ship is at port.

Nuclear just postpones the climate issue, if we "go nuclear" we will have a new nuclear waste problem in 20 years.

  • Don't get a Prius ride a bike

  • thats what happens when you dont have a nutritious diet

  • no, good magazine had was about some shady stuff, not it's just about "green" stuff

  • I was making a joke .....

and ya its all about green stuff cause green stuff is GOOD!

  • great, but it´s still to much noise about something really tiny, not real effort i would guess, for a port and ships that are making millions and should not exist anyway since they transport non-essential goods/shiet...

  • Other than the intro music just making me want to watch the wire. I have to say, why not just use nuclear power for a ship this large. Given there track record of 20 years operation so far without being refuelled or breaking down. 20 years of power to support the ships crew and propel the vessel. Given how much fuel that thing burns, I would honestly rather it was nuclear.

  • While I agree that nuclear power is a possible form of energy for larger vessels, the hazards would not be worth it. Esp with the NIMBY concept.

Imagine for a moment you live in a town with a large port (say Oakland, or Hong Kong). Would you want 3-4 large ships powered by nuclear energy parked within 5 miles of where you live every living moment?

  • However when the nimitz comes into dock it's a spectacle for all to behold. In other words, no, I wouldn't mind. I understand how they work, and if you think about the current reactors that have a proven track record are built on 20 year old reactor designs, new ones would be even better. I know what I suggest is controversial among the uneducated, and I'm not referring to you, I mean in general, but you have to think of the many tonnes of deisel burned by those ships.

  • We should be looking at companies like hyperion power generation for help and assistance... They are currently pioneering the first small scale reactors that in the next decade will power communities. They even intend to provide these reactors to developing countries, introducing electricity for clean water and aiding education, generally the quality of life. People need to be made more aware of how nuclear energy works, if they understood better, they wouldn't irrationally fear it.

  • they rationally fear it. Nuclear is not the answer, it simply postpones the problem.

We will have a "nuclear waste" climate issue in 20 years.

  • What about the nuclear waste generated from these reactors? I mean, the safety issue is overreacted upon. Chernobyl was terrible, but I'm sure the chances of an explosion are less now. It's the nuclear waste that bugs me. Why not use aluminium oxidisation engines? They are clean, reusable and ten times stronger than petroleum engines.

  • There are safe ways to store nuclear waste now. Compared to the enormous pollution produced by other sources of energy such as coal, diesel and oil, nuclear power is a lot more cleaner and way more efficient. As for Al oxidization engines, I have no idea what they are... PM me if you care to explain.

  • @Chinua3

This is a lie. There is no way to store waste that will outlast us humans.

The suff we produce on a daly basis is dangerous for 100.000 of years.

  • Infact, I'd like it very much if you would just do a little bit of research into hyperion power generation, look at their reactor designs, then get back to me with your opinion.

  • But what if you lived in Norfolk?

  • HAHA! This one's going in my funniest youtube comments collection!

  • OK.

But there is a LOT of room for improvement from such a tiny start.

  • This is awesome.

  • Too bad we still don't have world peace.....

Imagine how much we would have achieved

  • First.

  • This is great, those huge ships use an unfathomable amount of fuel. I could understand that guy perfectly, I didn't think he needed subtitles...

  • you may have understood him, but people who have just learned english may have trouble understanding him with his accent. but i know what you mean. they sometimes subtitle people from Newfoundland in Canada, even though they are perfectly understandable.
