I know how "much" I was serving in Yugoslav navy in 1999 when NATO bombed Yugoslavia, you just sent your planes to bomb town, you never dared to come on the ground, and we shot down your F-117A (only stealth plane ever to be shot down) and heavily damaged the other one, and 4 F-16, and about 40 UAV (ship I was serving on shot down 2 of UAV) you just bombed our civilians and some of our planes, our army and navy were intact, and we kicked albanian ass on the ground.
@03nj were talking about US Navy not NATO shipmate, try to keep up. NATO utilized air superiority to minimize casualties of its own people. If i remember correctly NATO destroyed all of there targets in like 4 days and led to the withdraw of yugoslav forces in Kosovo and pretty much ended the war. You may have shot down a couple NATO planes , but NATO ended a war that had been going on since 1991 in less than 2 months. furthermore If you think the US is afraid to use ground combat just ask Iraq.
lol, you destroyed targets you could see, like airfields, few power plants, and army HQ building (our generals were not even there) we hide well rest of our targets, plus our strong AA kept you at bay, and it's not 4 days but 78 days of bombing, it was after 4 days that you started bombing civilians, and civil war in Yugoslavia ended in 1995, in 1999 kosovo was Serbian province with lots of terrorist even Al Queada and we were fighting them when you step in on their side

The US didnt lose Vietnam, they withdrew cause the American people didnt approve of it, much like the wars Americas in today. US soldiers who fought in Vietnam said they won, and they did, but because the war was so protested in the States its seen as a defeat, which it can be interpreted as well.Mainly i give alota credit to the AK47 since vietnams the first war it saw and it did outstanding.

Normally wars end with paperwork stripping the losing side of any power, but at the end of Vietnam, the US kept forces in vietnam, and aside from casualties the US lost virtually nothing, as compared to the vietnamese who, majority, had lost their homes, they were poisoned in the longterm, and of course huge death tolls. I dont think anyone really won vietnam..
@noobasaurusrex1 -- the victory in war is not defined by number of "casualties", especially if we estimate the wars of 20th century - most of "casualties" are civilians in these wars. otherwise one would come to an absurd conclusion that it is nazi germany defeated the soviet union - it lost only 7 millions totally meanwhile the s.u. lost 26 million. but it was nazi germani that surrendered unconditionally to the allies in 1945.

@03nj First off the US gets less oil now from Iraq than we did before the war. Only a complete idiot would compare Iran to the US when it comes to aggression. The difference between the US and Iran is that the US will fight youlike a man while Iran does it through terror attacks. Iran couldnt beat Iraq and the US crushed Iraq. I know how "much" I was serving in Yugoslav navy in 1999 when NATO bombed Yugoslavia, you just sent your planes to bomb town, you never dared to come on the ground, and we shot down your F-117A (only stealth plane ever to be shot down) and heavily damaged the other one, and 4 F-16, and about 40 UAV (ship I was serving on shot down 2 of UAV) you just bombed our civilians and some of our planes, our army and navy were intact, and we kicked albanian ass on the ground.

@03nj were talking about US Navy not NATO shipmate, try to keep up. NATO utilized air superiority to minimize casualties of its own people. If i remember correctly NATO destroyed all of there targets in like 4 days and led to the withdraw of yugoslav forces in Kosovo and pretty much ended the war. You may have shot down a couple NATO planes , but NATO ended a war that had been going on since 1991 in less than 2 months. furthermore If you think the US is afraid to use ground combat just ask Iraq.

Any way you cut it, the bombings brought a swift and abrupt end to the fighting PERIOD! Shooting down a couple aircraft is as insignificant as it is irrelevant.

NATO may not know how to minimize innocent casualties in an air strike but the united states does. Iraqi republican guard was surrendering before they even saw American troops and Afghanistan has no uniformed forces at all! If American homeland was ever put at risk Iran would be leveled with the push of a button. The US didnt lose Vietnam, they withdrew cause the American people didnt approve of it, much like the wars Americas in today. US soldiers who fought in Vietnam said they won, and they did, but because the war was so protested in the States its seen as a defeat, which it can be interpreted as well.Mainly i give alota credit to the AK47 since vietnams the first war it saw and it did outstanding.

Normally wars end with paperwork stripping the losing side of any power, but at the end of Vietnam, the US kept forces in vietnam, and aside from casualties the US lost virtually nothing, as compared to the vietnamese who, majority, had lost their homes, they were poisoned in the longterm, and of course huge death tolls. I dont think anyone really won vietnam..

@noobasaurusrex1 -- the victory in war is not defined by number of "casualties", especially if we estimate the wars of 20th century - most of "casualties" are civilians in these wars. otherwise one would come to an absurd conclusion that it is nazi germany defeated the soviet union - it lost only 7 millions totally meanwhile the s.u. lost 26 million. but it was nazi germani that surrendered unconditionally to the allies in 1945.
