Clarity extra-ordinare! More so when you consider that audio recording quality and equipment ( not to mention filters and various enhancers! ), back in those days, was not as good as today. However, I can definitely say that once you'd heard Khan Saab's "Kinar" that superb tone remained in your ear, and soul, forever. Rest in peace Ustad Ji.
This music must be preserved for posterity, perhaps someone can make a better copy - clean up the audio etc.... I would certainly offer if I had the skills.
