@jaytlr9 Can't win 'em all! I was then young enough to be tormented by this program for a long time. As you say, it is "a great story!" There is one other that makes me squirm even today: Young Richard Thomas in "Sins of The Fathers!" That was from another TV series. Grateful to hear from you!
@varadero1839 Thanks for your response, varadero1839. I came back to watch Miss Devore again. lol You've now got me intrigued about the Thomas episode. Do you know what series it's from?
I saw this when I was 9 and it scared the bejesus out of me. (I still have no bejesus left, and I will never try on a wig.) 50 years later, I'm still too scared to watch this clip--much as I would love to see that twist scene! Maybe on Halloween this year? I'll gather my family, turn up all the lights, have a drink, and maybe peek at it between the fingers covering my eyes.
@dogsonthego I'm thinking the bejesus will somehow make a return engagement when you see it, and I hope you do! Watching Ms. Barry in her "shimmy" outfit doing the twist is worth it! Just cover your eyes towards the end! Good luck, and Happy Halloween!
@missusmoon Hi, and thanks for your message! You've given me a research project: Danse Macabre, by himself! I never knew that he'd ever commented on this program. Would that I had more, but this is the one and only "Thriller" clip I've ever had. I'm grateful, and honored to hear from you!
The 1st season has some great,eerie episodes.You have to look hard,check out(the hungry glass,the grim reaper,yours truly,jack the ripper,the cheaters(my favorite)and the devil's ticket(2nd favorite).Of the crime/mystery episodes,choose a victim and the merriweaher file are pretty good,with a nice little hitchcock hour feel,with nice little twist endings.Not great episodes,but certainly the best from the show,in that genre.
@TheGatorfan93 I agree with you! At the time I watched every episode, including the hungry glass, with Shatner, "I'm coming Marsha!" The one I remember most is "The Cheaters," with Harry Towne. The others all sound familiar, but I can't recall any of the plots or actors. Know this may sound blasphemous, but my favorite from "another media" starred even now amazing Richard Thomas: "The Sins of the Fathers." Did you ever see that one? It's nightmarish! Sorry to comment on this yet a 2nd time!
@varadero1839 No,i've never seen it.Im a big fan in particular of late 50's early 60's anthology shows.Like (thriller,alfred hitchcock presents/hour,twilight zone)
NBC should remake Thriller, but only with supernatural plots. The combination of supernatural horror stories one week and crime stories the next helped to doom this show. It was way too uneven according to the book Fantastic Television. This show got its own chapter in that book. Check it out via interlibrary loan.
@TheRichcraft I'm honored that you commented on this program! Thanks so much. I agree with you about remakes. Some of these shows gave me nightmares for days! That's OK when one was 14-15 years old. These beauties held an element of surprise and horror. A lot had to do with the writers; they were superb! O for an upload of "Sins of The Fathers!" Although from a different show, it is still, to me, the most terrifying story ever!
@MorganScorpion Gotta love those "pock-marks!" Also, superb is the transformation of the formerly "mustachioed" maid! Love her foxy departure with the wig. Imagine what havoc she caused! Wonderful hearing from you, and thanks for writing.
@shanghaibenny2 Where's "Chubby Checker" when you need him? Also, you're right about the "clean cut" folks. It's nice to see people in sheath dresses, sharkskin suits, etc. Gone are the days....
@TheReturnOfStephan1 Many Thanks! Happy to have you as a member of the club! I totally agree. Thanks so much for your comment. Gotta love Ms. Barry, her tassels and "spirited" twist! Viewing this is/was more fun than watching the pigs eat my little sister! That story to be continued....
"Off it comes, glamour girl!" But it looks as if she's already got it in her hands and is just lifting it up. That's okay; still a great story.

That has to be the most horrifying make-up that I've ever seen in black and white.

Didn't Chubby Checker get the idea for his name from Fats Domino?
shanghaibenny2 1 year ago
@shanghaibenny2 Yes, and the way Miss D.'s partner somehow knew to move aside so she could have center stage.
