That is absolutely BRILLIANT!! You have such a great voice as well as being a great guitar player, I love the changes in your voice - the way you soften it in places puts so much feeling into it you are naturally gifted! Thank you for sharing this!
@HomingMissiles Wow, now THAT is a compliment and a half. Thanks, and I'm so glad you enjoy this video. If you haven't checked them out, I have about a dozen Leadbelly songs up on YouTube.
The episode was called "Dead and Gone" from 1965. The entire episode was LOADED with Hoyt's singing and he even did a couple of duets with Adam Cartwright (Pernell Roberts).
Hmmm...wish I could. I'm not really playing Huddie's way exactly though; he did it on a 6 in open G tuning (as he did with a slide on "Children's Blues"). I'm doing it in D tuning on my 12 (down one full pitch from concert tuning)----so even if I tabbed out my part it wouldn't be Leadbelly's anyway.
you've got a cool vibe, man. sincerely.

Great song....great version. I have loved Leadbelly since the early 60s....yikes...
Open D can sound so good....excuse me.... while I retune my twelve string.
I too have many LB songs in my song book. Love to play, Love to sing....
Bravo to you....I am Canadian..spend my winters in Yuma...great place if you're a cowboy, eh.

I love Leadbelly's version, but I listen to yours everyday before I go to bed. One of the few things that can make me cheer up these times.
Lord knows...

Wow, I love the reverb. You have a great voice and are wonderfully experienced at guitar playing, evidentally.
