  • Very nice. a guy up the street from me has one. lol He makes sure it is backed into the garage so there is no mistaking what he has.

  • I will be at the event saving the factory in my Jeep in a few months!

  • i live only 20 minutes where this thing was made saw one for sale a few years back and i believe it was one of the first prototypes they wanted some cash for that one lol

  • Yep, this is Bantam BCR 40 from 1940 or -41. Nice to see the origin "jeep" instead of praises for Willys and Ford that didn't design the vehicle but just got blueprints of the American Austin by U.S. government... Or they designed something, Ford did a 9-slot grille and the Willys' biggest invention was the 7-slot grille as it's nowadays.

  • Wonderful to see the original, thank you. I've been driving my jeep yj for 19 years now since I bought it in 1992, so I can attest that to the durability of the design.

  • Parabéns! Um belo exemplar Bantam!

  • The Government made Bantam hand over the plans to Ford and Willys...the rest is history!

  • They made over 2000. They won the initial contract. However, they couldn't produce the qauntities that the army needed. I live 3 miles from the factory. And own a Bantam trailer ! Butler,Pa.. birthplace of the jeep !

  • But, I thought bantam never made a jeep? They invented it, and made a few prototypes, but did they ever produce any? I guess I was wrong!
