Lou played the Golden Nugget with Frank Sinatra in the 1980's.
Of cousre, he did such great work with singers like Sarah Vaughn, and also bands like Woody Herman. My Uncle, who sat-in with Les Brown and Shorty Rohers over the years and I spent a great time at the Golden Nugget one night. I asked Lou to play 'Close Enough For Love,' and he turned to my uncle and said, "I like this kid!" and then of course played the hell out of it!
Johnny Mandel's scores are always haunting. He gets the credit.
