Bought a harmonica about three weeks ago...never owned one in my life. I do a lot of traveling for my job and I play harmonica with both hands while steering with my knee. Don't worry though...the law says that I'm not supposed to be talking on the phone...it says nothing about groovin out with my harmonica, rockin my head back and forth and stomping the floor board with my left foot (right knee is driving).

@zachchristiansen many people learn without any kind of instruction. As a result, some of them start, and continue to play upside down. It doesn't really matter much. I feel like it's more often lefties who play upside down, but I can't substantiate that claim.

I was wondering if you could tell me about the tuning of a chromatic Koch harmonica I got recently. It's 10 holes, and as I go up the scale, there are some places where there is a whole-step interval, as opposed to a half-step interval. But my brother also has a 10-hole chromatic, but it can play every note. Why would they be tuned differently? I believe they're both in the key of C.

@zachchristiansen I don't know much about Koch tuning. I know the info is available online. Search for "koch tuning" or "koch harmonica" or "koch tuning chart" or something like that.

@12gagedan Thanks, I found what I was looking for. The Koch is actually a slide harmonica, so just two diatonic reed plates a half-step apart, isolated by the slide activation. Thanks, gage.
