@Tlove816tt check out superbrightleds (dot com). There's a Sylvania lamp replacement guide so you can get the correct LED bulbs to replace the stock ones. That's what I'm planning to do. I already changed my tail lights, license, side marker lights to LED's and I was able to get them at Pep Boys. And there are gauge face kits out there...I've seen some pretty cool ones. White face, indiglo, reverse glow. i have a 97 too btw.

People underrate Saturns. They really have a lot of potential. Very aerodynamic, futuristic shape. It's nice to see these done up- all I ever see tricked out are Hondas. Doing a Saturn is more original and unique. I'm doing mine up a bit as money permits. So far, 17" 5-spoke ricer wheels, H&R lowering springs, color-safe limo tint. I prob. won't do any performance mods though. Oh, and I've been putting in LOTS of sound-deadening to kill those rattles. :/
@Thepylot78 o the rattling, i just got a 2000 saturn sl1 with 35,000 odo and the whole dashboard rattles. But i plan to trace every last rattling piece :-)
@CLHRobot For the rattling, in mine at least, I traced one to the instrument cluster. Hard to describe w/o a pic but if you pull the clear bezel off the front of your inst. cluster and get behind the gauge face, the clear plastic piece behind it that diffuses the light rattles/buzzes against the frame behind it. Put some glue or something similar in there and that takes care of most of the rattling right there. Contact me for what I did for the rest of the rattles.
@CLHRobot Much of the dash rattling is the gauge cluster assy. as I mentioned, and I also put a square of half-inch weatherstrip at both corners of the glove box door. Made a BIG difference. MUCH quieter now. For your dash, you won't really need Dynamat for the most part (mainly foam rubber pieces wedged here and there to tighten things up) but I did install a sheet on the underside of the dash top and strips around the inside of center console trim, but your 2000 is slightly diff. than my 97.
You should get lowering springs. I had H&R springs installed on my 97 sl-1. It drops the car 1 3/4", something like that, almost 2". Where'd you get the white face gauges and the cold air intake? Nice car though, man. Wish I had the $ to do that. :/

@speacialperson12345 6 spd. My car domain username is ajs_saturn and you can veiw both cars. The saturn is still with my sis and has over 140k on it with the original clutch. But it is gettng pretty soft.

i didnt know u cud port n polish a head without taking it off lmao i have the same car n headers n its not prot n polished. u can port it but no polish srry.
@flyer892007 actually he's right, he just shouldnt have said it the way he did. If you swap a DOHC head over, in stock form you'll open up an additional 24hp, and youll get another 500-700rpm added to your powerband. The DOHC is actually tuned to run high rpm (max tq @ 4800rpm whereas SOHC gets max tq @ 2000rpm) and all the mods you've done to your SL1 will respond better to the DOHC head anyway. and its cheap lol theres a reason the DOHC was an upgrade from the SOHC engine; its just better.
now get a set of new spark plug wires, after market coil to put more spark to those plugs, get some e3 diamondfire plugs, get a high flow catalyic converter for a little more back pressure, get an upgraded clutch, pistons, full synthetic oil, run higher octane fuel, and if you can get a superchip or something... im sure that care hauls some balls for a 4cyl cause i have one but these are just some little tips to get a little more power out of it...

the header and down pipe is obx racing and that'll cost you $200 on ebay. the muffler is magnaflow and that will cost you about $100 from a muffler shop and the rest of the pipe was made at my local muffler shop. price varies on that one.

Best by far vid of a Saturn I have seen on youtube. I just bought a standard 93 SL2 and have been looking at ideas on the net. Before I do a lot to it, I am rebuilding the engine, doesn't need it, I just would feel more comfortable since it has 174K miles on it. Thanx for the info in your vid, it will be very handy.
Soupys --- do a DOHC swap and you will be much happier with the car. If your not in the financial ballpark for that, a CAI, exhaust, header will give you more power. but make sure the car is tuned up and running good before you mod it.

I hve a 1992 Saturn SL. I hope to fix mine up with performance parts like that one. Nice under the hood. If I were you, 'd hold on to it. In about 30 or more years, it will be worth alot since they are fazing out Saturn as of this year.

125,000 miles and still running strong as ever. i do oil changes every 3k and keep up with regular maintenance. never had a serious problem with the car. i love it. sorry you had such bad luck with your saturn

Actually, the bumper is the 3rd gen bumper. It's just that the un-painted bumpers look slightly different from the painted bumpers because they have those ugly bumps on them. I'm actually planning on swapping them out with the painted bumpers in the future
yea i got a 97, you should stick wit cold air not ram intake, an SOHC is gunna have high end torque to begin wit which is the top point of ram intake at 1st but cold air will give you that little boost in higher rpm ranges

I have a Cold air intake now and yes it does improve performance slightly. but mostly i've upgraded the handling of the car since this video inlcuding: 17x7" wheels, KYB-GR2 struts, H&R performance springs, AMR engineering front tower brace. It handles superiorly now
Thank you for modding out a saturn. I like these little cars and they have more balls then people are willing to give credit. I wouldn't have gone with the underglow just because it might suck power from it...or in case a rock would break it. But that's just me...I like how it looks though.
i got the same car and when i bought it the guy gave me 17'' with it....and i asked myself a question WHY DO PEOPLE WANT TO MOD THIS CAR ...it totally sucks loll!
Also, you would be much happier with a larger powerhouse of a motor with the 1.9L DOHC 16-valve that the Sx2s came with. I spent years wasting money into an SC1, doing everything you could imagine and in the end it was still slower than my factory SL2, which only ran 15.8 in the quarter mile at the time. If you are going to continue with the modifications on the 8-valve you at least should wire up and use a piggyback SAFC apexi and get rid of the "performance chip".
the performance chip is gone. this video was made a while ago. i quit doing mods to the engine. i'm concentrating on the suspension for autocross and style for car shows every weekend:) i'll be making a new video sometime. my car looks completely different now

Have you blown the trany yet? And if you havent just take it easy on the trany. I had an SL1 i put 4 tranys into it theres a pin that slides out of the diferencial and breaks thru the shell and there goes your fluid. all 4 times it happend the same way.

the header and down pipe is obx racing and that'll cost you $200 on ebay. the muffler is magnaflow and that will cost you about $100 from a muffler shop and the rest of the pipe was made at my local muffler shop. price varies on that one.

HELL YEAH I love what you did with the interior nice. You really decked out your Saturn =P Awsome underglow (to bad its illegal to drive with the underglow on ffs) I'm just starting to deck out my saturn. Any ideas? So far custom seats, steering wheel, turbo, pulse lights (pulses to music) thats about it ha ha. Any tips?

I have respect for you up to the point where its a SOHC, even with a 50 shot, can't keep up with DOHC, proven multiple times

Best by far vid of a Saturn I have seen on youtube. I just bought a standard 93 SL2 and have been looking at ideas on the net. Before I do a lot to it, I am rebuilding the engine, doesn't need it, I just would feel more comfortable since it has 174K miles on it. Thanx for the info in your vid, it will be very handy.

Soupys --- do a DOHC swap and you will be much happier with the car. If your not in the financial ballpark for that, a CAI, exhaust, header will give you more power. but make sure the car is tuned up and running good before you mod it.

I hve a 1992 Saturn SL. I hope to fix mine up with performance parts like that one. Nice under the hood. If I were you, 'd hold on to it. In about 30 or more years, it will be worth alot since they are fazing out Saturn as of this year.

and if you are going to put that much money into a 2000 sl1 with the SOHC why not spring the extra money and get a sc2 with the DOHC. just sayin better car

I have 169,000 miles on my 95 sc1 and she runs like a champ! Saturns can go the distance if you maintain them.

what the driver doesnt know is that saturns are horrrible and there days are shortly numbered, ive spent double in repairs than he prolly has in upgrades, my 01 died with less than 115 000 miles, engine seized because saturns are horrible, i hope the best for this focker, cuz u know whats next ...BAm the saturn will blow up with him inside... then heel wish he and all the other saturn owners who havnt scrapped smashed or sold there saturn yet. good friggin luck

125,000 miles and still running strong as ever. i do oil changes every 3k and keep up with regular maintenance. never had a serious problem with the car. i love it. sorry you had such bad luck with your saturn

i noticed you put bumpers from an older gen sl(1998?).
do u know if the rear rebar for the bumper on a 2000 sl is the same as a 97-98 sl ?

Actually, the bumper is the 3rd gen bumper. It's just that the un-painted bumpers look slightly different from the painted bumpers because they have those ugly bumps on them. I'm actually planning on swapping them out with the painted bumpers in the future

yea i got a 97, you should stick wit cold air not ram intake, an SOHC is gunna have high end torque to begin wit which is the top point of ram intake at 1st but cold air will give you that little boost in higher rpm ranges

Thanks man, yea it's been a while since i've made this video, the car looks a lot different now. I have a Cold air intake now and yes it does improve performance slightly. but mostly i've upgraded the handling of the car since this video inlcuding: 17x7" wheels, KYB-GR2 struts, H&R performance springs, AMR engineering front tower brace. It handles superiorly now

Thank you for modding out a saturn. I like these little cars and they have more balls then people are willing to give credit. I wouldn't have gone with the underglow just because it might suck power from it...or in case a rock would break it. But that's just me...I like how it looks though.

Also, you would be much happier with a larger powerhouse of a motor with the 1.9L DOHC 16-valve that the Sx2s came with. I spent years wasting money into an SC1, doing everything you could imagine and in the end it was still slower than my factory SL2, which only ran 15.8 in the quarter mile at the time. If you are going to continue with the modifications on the 8-valve you at least should wire up and use a piggyback SAFC apexi and get rid of the "performance chip".

the performance chip is gone. this video was made a while ago. i quit doing mods to the engine. i'm concentrating on the suspension for autocross and style for car shows every weekend:) i'll be making a new video sometime. my car looks completely different now

The performance chip you have is throwing your AFRs down the toilet. The 1.9 8-valve SOHC already runs very rich (in the 11s) during WOT.

beautiful car bro.. i had the while backrounds on my cluster gauge but they kept bubbling up and the needles would stick.. ive got the same exact car.. but my valve cover is painted metallic blue lol.. dont listen to the douches..that sl1 is a good investment.. i just cant find smoked headlights or taillights.. and i rock the stock black steelies lol

Ohh Awsome! My N|Mechanic sed that would be a good thing to do but it was going to be way more money to take that tray apart but i sold the car to him for 400 bucks because i wasent putting more money into it. But i have to say i do miss that car i had some fun with it!!

Have you blown the trany yet? And if you havent just take it easy on the trany. I had an SL1 i put 4 tranys into it theres a pin that slides out of the diferencial and breaks thru the shell and there goes your fluid. all 4 times it happend the same way.
