@simoon22 LMAO, Tony Levin low class musically and technically low class... I suggest that you look up some info on him. He does know how to slap. The funk fingers are just a different thing.
Tony is based out of Woodstock, like Rundgren, so he plays the NE frequently (I got to hang out with LTE when they played Boston about 10 years ago!), just like Greg Howard is based out of VA so he plays more often in the VA/DC area. Levin, Mastelotto, Holdsworth, and Bozio will be in Santa Cruc CA on Jan 6th though, got my tickets!!!!
For the life of me I don't understand why people like Tony Levin keep on having concerts exclusively in the northeast part of the US and keep on ignoring pretty much the rest of the country.
I live in Florida and how I wish people like Levin and Bill Bruford would come down here for once.
It's easy - economics. Even though TLev is well-known in the Bass/Stick/"Musician"-world and I imagine isn't hurting for money, it's also very likely that his solo albums don't sell HUGE amounts in the grand scheme, that *if lucky* he breaks even on his solo/band tours and does it for the fun of playing his material live and because he has the disposable income to finance a tour. Like it or not, the NE US is the most concentrated cluster of cities that a tour could be structured around.
i agree with you, actually he recorded a project called liquid tension, with jordan rudes, mike portnoy and jhon petrucci, the most famous song i think it was acid rain...
2:Saw the tip and sand it so it's slimmer were your fingers are
3:Place some tape,sticky-side out,on your fingers just below the second joint then tape the stick under your finger with strong tape(tricky part:not so tight so you can remove them quickly and tight enough so they don't slip off your sweaty fingers)
4:put some cylicone sealer on the tip that hit the string for better tone
yeah he's porbably better known for being a bassist, though he's probably not that well known outside of the ernie ball musicman crowd as i think that's pretty much all he uses, apart from the chapman stick... which is a bass by the way.
hey! i know that band, paradox. i have one of their cds. i knew a girl from thailand, she lived with a friend of mine through an exchange program. i dont remember much thai, though... so if you dont know english, oh well.
Every time I listen to this I remain sleepless.

I like the bit about 10 seconds into this vid when he uses them to scratch his arsehole. Stinky Funk Fingers!
Loobs666 1 year ago 3
He's adjusting the wireless on his belt behind his back. And a little awkwardly too with those things on his fingers.
jon4bass 1 year ago 3
@jon4bass Maybe so, but he's also having a quick, surreptitious dig at his itchy brown eye at the same time (watch that middle finger).

One of my favorite bass players... Strange thing about him though, he never looks any different no matter what year it is. It's like he doesn't age.

I made some for myself a couple years ago
1:Get some broken drum sticks from your drummer
2:Saw the tip and sand it so it's slimmer were your fingers are
3:Place some tape,sticky-side out,on your fingers just below the second joint then tape the stick under your finger with strong tape(tricky part:not so tight so you can remove them quickly and tight enough so they don't slip off your sweaty fingers)
4:put some cylicone sealer on the tip that hit the string for better tone

make a vid for "how to make your own funk fingers" i would be interested!
RHCPh4x 3 years ago
we did the same thing but
instead of tape we used rubber tubing and glued it around one side of the drum stick
we also used tape but didnt like it we seemed to have a little more control with the rubber

Oh, and this is the first time I've ever seen him play a bass. So he is a bassist. Not just a Chapman Stick(ist)?
Tom89Wog 4 years ago
They are called Funk Fingers, kind of like mini drum sticks on the ends of your fingers.
