  • Every time I listen to this I remain sleepless.

  • I saw this guy perform with A.B.W.H ,He was just fucking amazing!!

  • Visit our channel: rock-prog band Gran Torino: our album is coming in 2011: grantorinoProg.

  • @simoon22 LMAO, Tony Levin low class musically and technically low class... I suggest that you look up some info on him. He does know how to slap. The funk fingers are just a different thing.

  • I like the bit about 10 seconds into this vid when he uses them to scratch his arsehole. Stinky Funk Fingers!

  • He's adjusting the wireless on his belt behind his back. And a little awkwardly too with those things on his fingers.

  • @jon4bass Maybe so, but he's also having a quick, surreptitious dig at his itchy brown eye at the same time (watch that middle finger).

  • BONGO BASS!!!

  • I once gave my ex-girlfriend the old funk finger. She wasn't expecting it there but she came to love it.

  • It´s a crazy!!!very wonderful!!!amazing!!!uh!!!

  • the name of the music man most to be one of most funniest names for a bass BONGO that name make's me laught but sounds amazing

  • One of my favorite bass players... Strange thing about him though, he never looks any different no matter what year it is. It's like he doesn't age.

  • @Makonu2 he's not human :)

  • @nmlss666 Ahhh... He's gotta be one of them robots from Jupiter I've been hearing about.

  • Tony is based out of Woodstock, like Rundgren, so he plays the NE frequently (I got to hang out with LTE when they played Boston about 10 years ago!), just like Greg Howard is based out of VA so he plays more often in the VA/DC area. Levin, Mastelotto, Holdsworth, and Bozio will be in Santa Cruc CA on Jan 6th though, got my tickets!!!!

  • For the life of me I don't understand why people like Tony Levin keep on having concerts exclusively in the northeast part of the US and keep on ignoring pretty much the rest of the country.

I live in Florida and how I wish people like Levin and Bill Bruford would come down here for once.

    For freaking once, dammit.

  • It's easy - economics. Even though TLev is well-known in the Bass/Stick/"Musician"-world and I imagine isn't hurting for money, it's also very likely that his solo albums don't sell HUGE amounts in the grand scheme, that *if lucky* he breaks even on his solo/band tours and does it for the fun of playing his material live and because he has the disposable income to finance a tour. Like it or not, the NE US is the most concentrated cluster of cities that a tour could be structured around.

  • Alaska never gets anything, you're not alone, friend.

  • and Paul Simon

  • he´s like 100 years old.....but he still kicks every bass player´s ass

  • levin is crazy!

  • the funk fingers look a bit hard to use

  • I knew about tony doin this many years ago.

Although i know hes a good player, this actual track sounds shit.

Not my idea of funky fingers sadly!

  • i agree with you, actually he recorded a project called liquid tension, with jordan rudes, mike portnoy and jhon petrucci, the most famous song i think it was acid rain...

  • the first time i ever saw the funk fingers, i thought those were his actual fingers. lol.

  • Funk Fingers!

  • somehow this looks scary......the funk fingers i mean....

  • Any one know the name of this song? It sounds real awesome.

  • The tune is "Pieces Of The Sun". I just changed the video description to reflect this fact. Thanks for watching!

  • i need to get some funk fingers

  • I made some for myself a couple years ago

1:Get some broken drum sticks from your drummer

2:Saw the tip and sand it so it's slimmer were your fingers are

3:Place some tape,sticky-side out,on your fingers just below the second joint then tape the stick under your finger with strong tape(tricky part:not so tight so you can remove them quickly and tight enough so they don't slip off your sweaty fingers)

4:put some cylicone sealer on the tip that hit the string for better tone

    hrdrthenlooks P

  • make a vid for "how to make your own funk fingers" i would be interested!

  • we did the same thing but

instead of tape we used rubber tubing and glued it around one side of the drum stick

we also used tape but didnt like it we seemed to have a little more control with the rubber

  • one of my favorite bassists, im going to see him in King Crimson pretty soon

  • Where man, I didn't know King Crimson was on tour.

  • Whos that guitar player? He just toured as a member of Todd Rundgren's band and he was great

  • That's Jesse Gress. He also writes for Guitar Player mag.

  • I didn't know he had started using a Bongo. Looks like a stealth one too, very nice!

  • No that's silvery grey...

  • no it's stealth...

  • Man the bongo is amazing. I just got one. No afiliation w/the company etc....

  • EBMM are great instruments... but let's face it... the design the bongo has is not really preety...

I like the Stingray the best

  • Damn, he's got some big ass fingers! LOL!

  • those are called funk fingers, basically drumsticks taped to his fingers, he invented them i believe

  • tony levin is damn good...i just got a Signature Tony Levin 5-String bass today...its a beauty.....

  • Hey! Levin is damn good...he's awesome to see live. Congrats on your fine axe! :)

  • what finish? i would go with the flamed maple top

  • What's that on his fingers?

Oh, and this is the first time I've ever seen him play a bass. So he is a bassist. Not just a Chapman Stick(ist)?

  • They are called Funk Fingers, kind of like mini drum sticks on the ends of your fingers.

  • looks scary

  • yeah he's porbably better known for being a bassist, though he's probably not that well known outside of the ernie ball musicman crowd as i think that's pretty much all he uses, apart from the chapman stick... which is a bass by the way.

  • LOL!

  • BTW, I got Levin's permission to post this clip after asking him via email. He's one cool cat and a sharing kind of guy with his Road Diary postings.

  • AAH!! How cool is that !! =D

  • ทำไมนิ้วยาว

  • hey! i know that band, paradox. i have one of their cds. i knew a girl from thailand, she lived with a friend of mine through an exchange program. i dont remember much thai, though... so if you dont know english, oh well.

  • this is awesome, what song is this?

  • Pieces of the Sun....get Tony Levin's "Double Espresso" (live)

  • Aha! Thanks for that as I was wondering myself what the name of this tune was (I just have the Resonator album).
