  • Did Angelo Badalamenti "borrow" this for his Twin Peaks theme/"Falling" song?!

  • This song is so true.

  • Gawd, a group based around freaky hairdos. I remember running into this lot all the time as a teenager growing up in Liverpool. Most uncool in our eyes. And why are they using electrical equipment in such an environment?

  • @MrLarklane oh crawl back in your hole, you wank

  • This video has 154,000 views and a typical "Lady" GaGa "music" video will have over 100 million views. Now you know why western culture is headed downward.

  • @MrBEB123 you also gotta consider the fact that lady gaga is the current generation of music where there are a lot more younger viewers who are computer savvy compared to a lot of older people back in the 80's who may not be as much.

  • Respond to this video... that guitar sounds orgasmic. can't even tell you how it makes me feel listening to it under the influence.

  • hey dude respect their opinion,,if you can't say something good then shut the fuck up

  • Just Great!!!!!

  • Awesome! I was there at Giant's Causeway back in 2006 and never realized after all these years this songs video was filmed there.

  • @MrJimmypage32

Just read your message. . .I LoVe it!!!

I have been singing this tune since October 2011 and can not get it out of my head.

    Here's to the Class of 1987 <3

  • Can you believe, as narrow minded as VH1 is, they put the song I Ran on a top "One hit Wonders" list....ONE HIT WONDERS!??......HOLY SHIT!

  • @chumbersdee -- According to their wiki page, 'I Ran' reached #3 in the US -- as did 'Wishing'. This song reached #10, so they had 3 top ten radio singles in the US, and different successes elsewhere. Underrated band - and that's coming from a metalhead!

  • @rovibe i ran was big hit in my country too.

1-2 years the band was very succesfull, and than it just disappeared;(

wtf happened. anyway thanx for different kind of tv shows and gta vice city that people havent forgotten this amazing band.

my mom and dad still members this very clearly;D

  • i love this song......

  • AFOS is one of the MOST Underated bands of all time

  • i fed the seagulls at the beach right in front of the sign that says.... dont feed them. i had popcorn and drew about 10000 of them. LOL. They went nuts. it was so funn. there was so many. i think thats how i found this playlist. Seagulls everywhere right in there face of the sign. i wanted to feed them so i did. fuk that sign

  • bullethead2202 your 100% right it aint nothing but nonsense I wouldnt even call it music .A flock of seagulls plays music you can understand, wish that this young people would take interest in clean music such as this , if there not listening to vulgarity and all that other junk thats goes with it there not happy . parents really need to take control !

  • Mi piace la barra dei non mi piace, ha la stessa lunghezza del pene di justin bieber :)

  • Great song!

  • Latvijas domātāji sveicina no ^Rudzulauka^

  • This is one of their best songs! Even better than I Ran IMO.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tremendo tema

  • All i can say is YES.

  • Magical yet tragical.

  • Al contrario de muchos, esta fue la 1ra canción de AFOS que escuché y me privó.

P.S. Nunca pude llevar el cabello así.

  • esta cancion me acompaño toda mi juventud-y hasta ahora- la amo

  • A jewel

  • why does singer have a guitar that he doesn't play

  • @sugaryourmind because you touch yourself at night.

  • @sugaryourmind Because it is HIS guitar.

  • @sugaryourmind alot singers carry guitars in music videos that they dont use

  • I can still vivdily remember watching this video on a new wave show called "Eurorock" here in the Philippines in the mid 80's. Thanks forthe upload.

  • kocham was

  • Why couldn't The 80's Last Forever ? This is Why I Miss them so Much.

  • Oh how I love the 80's and music like this!

  • genial

  • The More You Live The More You Love Y I Ran Son mis canciones favoritas de A Flock Of Seagulls NO SON DE MI EPOCA PERO CRECI ESCUXANDO ESTAS CANCIONES POR DIFERENTES MOTIVOS ..GRACIAS A DIOS PUDE DARME EL GUSTO DE IR A SU CONCIERTO QUE REALIZARON EL AÑO PASADO EN LIMA (SOY PERUANO) NUNCA LO OLVIDAREE FUE FANTASTICO ESCUXARLAS EN VIVO (AUNK OBVIO K LA VOZ YA NO ACOMPAÑA) PERO KEDA LA ESENCIA ,,CREO YO K ES LO MEJOR GRACIAS A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS

  • Mike S. was too arrogant and a control freak which caused the original band to break up. Together they did create a very cool sound, so give credit where credit is due. ☺

  • I could listen to this forever and ever.

  • one of the best songs of all time - imho

  • Just got into these guys and have to say I love the melancholic vocals, lyrics and melodies. Their debut is really good and their '95 album too. But the haircuts? Certainly one of the better 80's new wave bands. At least equal to overrated kitsch Duran Duran.

  • I don't think Paul R. was underrated. I don't think he was even on a radar . I love their songs but to overLove the guitar work seems a bit much. He puts together very few tasty notes. It's not that genius, just works well with the songs. To me , it's the melody and the vocals that make it. And i've always been a fan of his guitar work.

  • ESTA CANCIÓN ES SUPER BUENAZA ME ENCANTA, SOBRE TODO LA MUSICA, TIENE UN SONIDO FUTURISTICO QUE TE LLEVA A OTRO PLANETA SIN FUMARTE UN TROMCHITO OK.

  • An underappreciated gem of a song.

A Flock of Seagulls had three great hits off their first album. Then they changed music styles away from guitars on their second awful album. Sadly "The more you live, the more you love" from their third album is an example that they should have been given the second chance they never had.

  • i ran so far away cause i gave my heart to a strangerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • i ran so far awayyyyyyyyyyy

  • love the 80s

  • greattttttttt this is one of my favoritesss

  • love it

  • Hey friends I would to Like to know about Where are you!!! I am from Lima Perú...maybe anyone came here as a nice turist...cheers!!!

  • so underrated =(

  • way ahead of their time- the masses never got it- it was to far advanced for its day- NO ONE had drums that sounded like that- and the Police fans hated it and threw shit at them..... sometimes the best thing is not always popular, and the most popualr isnt always the best..... the flock were pioneers in the sea that electronica is 2nd nature to all today.... bravo mike score and company.... : )

  • my life com minha esposa....

  • The Flock of Seagulls is more than just the song I Ran so far away

  • @windowsmobilesite no, generation x was late 70's to mid 80's. The arcade era, when metal first started coming out.

I'm 26 and i consider myself a a late gen x body. I really hate being born in the 80's. I wish I was born in the 70's.

    but hey...whaddaya gonna do.

  • @windowsmobilesite LOOK IT UP!KIDS BORN '65 - '80,SO I'M RIGHT!THANK YOU VERY MUCH.KNOW YOUR ROOTS.

  • @windowsmobilesite THEN WHERE WE BELONG?BABYBOOMERS?

  • THOSE WERE THE BEST OF TIMES FOLKS.I'M 45 AND A PART OF GENERATION X.WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WARS OR TERRORISTS.NO CRACK OR METH.WE WERE THE LOST GENERATION BUT WE HAD THE WORLD BY THE NUTSACK.IT'S DEPRESSING NOW BUT,THAT'S LIFE! • @GUITANO65 actually not to burst your bubble, but if u were born in the 60s, terrorism was around... (cold war -> now), but just pointing that out. Flock of seagulls is awesome!

  • THOSE WERE THE BEST OF TIMES FOLKS.I'M 45 AND A PART OF GENERATION X.WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WARS OR TERRORISTS.NO CRACK OR METH.WE WERE THE LOST GENERATION BUT WE THE WORLD BY THE NUTSACK.IT'S DEPRESSING NOW BUT,THAT'S LIFE! • Oh My god!!! HOW MANY WISEDOM IN THIS SONG

  • @ceciliamarquina Hey you are Ana Cecilia Marquina?... excuse me if I am in mistake

  • Gracias Inglaterra por todo lo que has dado al mundo con tus bandas tanto new wave y heavy metal tambien.

  • I Love this song.

  • certainly, there most under rated song.

  • such a good song... to bad they don't write 'em like that anymore

  • la guitarra es genial acá...:')

  • you are all racists. why do you want to go back to the all white boy bands and hate rap? 80s music are for teabaggers.

  • @sunsdotcum wow your a hypocrit

  • @sunsdotcum shut up dirty nigger

  • @sunsdotcum Why hate the 80's? What has it done for you to hate it so much?

  • @Supersweetguy the 80's is awesome whoever hates the 80's should suck a fat dick

  • @retroguy1976 I don't know why there are people who dislike this song.

  • @sunsdotcum So what's will all the rant?

  • @sunsdotcum Rap isn't that good, you don't have to call us racist for hating it. I hate pop so does that make me racist against whites because most of pop music is sung by white people?

  • @bullethead2202 Rap isn't music. Just ranting vulgar nonsense.

  • @georgehr3 Better yet, rap it's noise..

For me this is the best song by A Flock of Seagulls

  • @georgehr3 As I like to say, just an ex-con yelling into a microphone.

  • @georgehr3 Depends on what your listening too. Hip hop was always on the pulse of inner city, urban life. Now it's spread to many facets of life. "Rappers" are the new Bob Dylans of the times - Don't listen to your radio, research some good artists like Sage Francis, Eyedea, Cool Calm Pete, Kosha Dillz, El-P, Aesop Rock, Cage, etc etc.

  • @georgehr3

That's just merely your opinion and not an objective truth. Its music alright and some of the older Rappers did had a lot to say about the shit that was going on.

  • @georgehr3 music is defined as the art of combining sounds within time, so think twice before you say something stupid

  • @georgehr3 Fuck Rap!!!

  • @drewdudy Rap isn't music. Its just talking fast into a microphone, seeing how much you can complain about how the government has "screwed you" and how you're gonna get high and beat your woman. What a load of shit. This is true music! LONG LIVE THE FLOCK!

  • @22ndWave not all rap music is typical degrading nonesense. rap was originally about people growing up in "the struggle" and trying to find their way out of the lifestyle. once gangsta rap became commercialized however, thats when rap became all about having sex with tons of women, bragging about money and cars, doing drugs, etc.

i'm pretty much open to all styles of music, although classic rock and the 80's are my favorite. not all rap is garbage.

  • @cyberwaffles Popular culture reached its high point in the 1980's, the best era ever.

Rap had unfortunately appeared in the 80's, but there was so much brilliant music and fashion around that it could be ignored. It is more apparent now because there isn't any good music around to distract people from it.

  • @georgehr3 And what if you appreciate songs from both rap & new wave, like I do (and music from another 150+ other genres)?

I never understood why people go: "[Insert favourite genre/artist] is the best in the world and [insert other genre/artist that you don't like] is just crap." Learn to fucking explore and broaden your taste a bit, people!

If anybody tells me they know something about music while they only listen to one or a couple of (sub)genres, I'm calling bullshit!

  • @sunsdotcum Then why don't you grow up? Whoever you are, don't force your beliefs on someone else. Shut up!!!!

  • @sunsdotcum - at first i thought your user name was "Scrotum"..lol

  • I like this song a lot, but it makes me sad! why??? maybe I would love to go back to those days in high school, sigh! Life was good then!

  • nearly every song by the flock of seagulls is about love

  • Absolutely, in fact this is one song that brings much inspirations within !

  • This song is freaking amazing live..just saying <3

  • Dont want through this again!! exactly how I feel at this time of my life..I have been a fan of FOS since they first came to the surface. I seen them in Santa Cruz broadwalk. Mike was awesome..though his original memebers are not with him I can only add that this song made chills run down my spine..they were amazing love all there songs..but this one here says everything we all face when we are jaded by trust..pls give them a thumbs up for they rock now as they did in the 80's..thxs -Miracle 5xx

  • nice song!

  • A mi me pasa lo mismo, recordando mi infancia en Peru que fue la mejor etapa de mi vida, extraniando a la family.... saludos desde Norway!

  • Paul Reynolds is one of the most influential yet underrated guitar players in the early 80s, Burchill from Simple Minds covered a lot of him, just more successful. Shame they didn't make it further.

  • paul is pretty original. and he shreds.

  • @Commander297 Paul Reynolds did influence me to play guitar!

  • @Commander297 I totally agree Paul was amazing!!

  • @Commander297

i totally agree..hes a fantastic guitarist. those melodies are great, and the way he put them in the music. brilliant guitarist

  • I see these supporting U2 on the unforgetable fire tour

    outstanding!!

  • I'm 16, and I love this.

  • best band the word

  • One of the best groups of the eighties!!

  • 48YO, heard this when it came out. Still great.

  • Video is at Giants causeway in Ulster, been there and it rocks !!!!!

  • I dont know what I'd do if I grew up in todays music. I mean, the Jonas Brothers and Miley? Or maybe Avril or go and watch High School Musical? Come on, that shit is sad. The 80's were awesome and always will be. I can think of about 30 bands that were sweet, nowadays it's all rap and hip hop (there's an overused term)... And how about Yo MTV Raps... MTV sucks nowadays, I looked at the lineup the other day for their who days lineup, and nothing was anything related to videos. Bunch of crap

  • God Bless you man. you give me hope in mankind =) peace bro!!!!

  • Stay gold ponyboy!

  • every generation tends to want something they can call their own, mine had GFR, beatles, stones, pink floyd, queen, zeppelin, purple, and many more that still have our gratitude for life. Im sure this generation have someone to be proud of 40 years frm now.......right?........ hello?...... echo...echo...

  • @Caprifemme damn dude, you have no idea.

look up, the wild swans, industry, trans x, new order, etc look up user real80smusic

  • i think what he means by this is that the older you get, the more you learn about who you are, and who you want, when youre young, you learn about your failed relationships, and you grow from them, so when the right person comes along later, you can love them with all your heart and know theyre the one, good job flock of seagulls, beautiful song

  • I'm not being mean, Ihatemakingnames; I actually really like your explanation, but you and Dr. Phil should get together! It would be one for the ages!!

  • hahaha, dont worry, thanks :P

  • Dogapsa, I agree but it is depressing... I was pushing it to 60 to avoid sadness, LOL.

  • Temazo

  • Yeaahhh ....

  • Lately I noticed this is a Great band w/ great songs

  • Unfortunately the more WE live, especially if reaching 60+ we love less and less, become selfish to the max and no emotion burns in US anymore :((
