Ha Ha! This really took me back. I have not seen it in at least 35 years, but suddenly found myself reciting along..."watch the witches cooperate....!" It was one of my favorite skits.
I remember this well - the opening and closing music might be spooky, but the lines spoken by the witches themselves are as 'down-to-earth slapstick' as you can get!
I mean that in the form of a joke, as it seems like she just might say something like that! I love this sketch by the way along with grover the waiter and the subway song.
I remember this very clearly from my kindergarden days. I loved these witches and their voices. I wanted them to come to our house and stay with us. I imagined them making spells in our kitchen.
lol, I was born '71 and I remember watching this kid when I was like 5 years old here in the Philippines. I remember now that I thought that the 3 witches were inside a human throat and the rock formations were tonsils lol
Ummm... they aren't exactly using all the elements here... or maybe they are? Smoke, chicken (Earth Element?), fire, kettle of water. Sesame Street gave me an early lesson in World Religions. LOL
WOWOWOWOWOOWOW!!!lololololololololololol!!!THIS ALWAYS HAD ME ON THE FLOOR ROLLING...LOVELOVELOVE IT!THE GIRLS FROM CHARMED HAVE NOTHING ON THESE GALS.
I personaly believe that women puppeteers should have played the witches. I'm not saying that Jerry Nelson, Jim Henson, and Richard Hunt didn't do a good job. The'yre my favorite puppeteers. It just makes more sense to me.
Well by 1972 they had only one female Muppeteer: Fran Brill. Jim Henson didn't do female voices as often as Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt did.
"MY MAGIC CHICKEN !! AHHH HAHAHAHAHAH !!" LMBO LMBO... This was another one of my favourites !!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS !!! TY for posting ! This is going on my MySpace !!! :D heehee
For those of you wondering who did voices here they are. Jerry Nelson as the purple witch Jim Henson as the blue witch and Richard Hunt as the green witch.Feel free to make corrections if I'm wrong.
anyone know the skit where the puppets sing "cooperation, makes it happen, cooperation, working together" and then a frog or something says "Dig it!" ??? anyone know it?
This was a pretty cool skit. I remember seeing in 1975-1976 when I was 4 or 5 years old.

If witches were still on Sesame Street and they remade this sketch, here's who would perform them.
Blue Witch - Steve Whitmire
Green Witch - David Rudman
Purple Witch - Jerry Nelson (puppetry would be done by Matt Vogel)

This clip may contain Jerry Nelson's best feminine voice ever. Jim and Richard are great also.
Garrettk41 3 years ago
I agree. I tend to think Jerry's female voices sound a lot like Robin the Frog on helium.

Anyone have the episode where Margaret Hamilton made a special guest appearance as the Wicked Witch of the West?

I liked how the blue witch made those funny noises when carrying her kettle. It's like she was carrying a hot kettle without oven mitts.
