The "second face" is not "on the back" it is on the reverse side of the shroud. WHICH MAKES SENSE. The WHOLE image is on the reverse side as well. If it was manufactured, would have absorbed into adjacent fiber-it did not

i believe in jesus and the fact that he died for my sins and rose again the third day. but i do not believe that the man in the shroud is jesus. jesus was beaten to beyond recognition, the man in the shroud was obviously not. also scripture tells us that when jesus was being tortured that his beard was pulled out. the man in the shroud still has his beard.
I can see where some of his beard was pulled out, He has a broken nose a swollen face, a plaque under the chin that says LAMB in Aramaic, they found a skinned knee where he fell, pollen from Jerusalem and flowers from there, over 100 scourge marks with a Roman flagrum. They can find a perfect hologram image of our Lord. Research it more and you will believe. I know in my heart it's Him. So many don't want to believe because it's in a Catholic Church.
you must be looking at a different shroud than i see here. the face in the shroud is swollen only under one eye. the face on the shroud was not beaten beyond recognition, jesus was beaten so badly they could not tell that he was a man to look at his face. i don't care if the shroud is in a catholic church. i will not recieve salvation by believing in a shroud, only jesus himself.

Radiocarbon dating shows it coming from around the 14th century - when religious "relics" sold for big money.
The face is disproportionate to a human being. It is too long. Rex oxide paint has been found where the "blood" was supposed to be.
There is a second face on the back.
In short, nothing points to the shroud as being around the first century. Even if it were, there would be no way to point this to any one specific individual.

It was concluded that the pigment was definitely NOT paint.
The "second face" is not "on the back" it is on the reverse side of the shroud. WHICH MAKES SENSE. The WHOLE image is on the reverse side as well. If it was manufactured, would have absorbed into adjacent fiber-it did not

Oh, and common sense. Other than that I won't do your research for you. Just read. Even when Jesus, the Lord God, the Son of God, was being crucified, all he would say is "Father, Forgive them, for they do not know what they do!" shellyssa... Jesus is a real historical figure. Records of his life have been written even my anti-Christian Roman historians both during His life and not too long after His death & ressurection.
As far as his Divinity is concerned, the proof does not end with the Bibile. There are events that have occurred and still occur to this very day that show that there is a God who sends forth His Angels, Hi Saints, His Begotton Son Jesus, and Mary the Mother of Jesus, as His messengers.

you know, I grew up going to catholic school for the first six years of my life. that religion, just like most religions brainwashed me into believing everything they taught, which wasn't much. people, jesus is just a metaphor for the high level of religious dogma at that time. there is dispute as to when he lived, some say that he was born 40 to 60 years after the time that all of the writings took place.some say that he never really existed. people just want to belong and believe in something.

People in the Middle East would have looked a bit different before the Arab invasions. When the Arabs erupted from their desert homes in Arabia and overthrew the Byzantine-Roman and Sassanian Persian empires, many of their tribes then settled in the Mesopotamia and Holy Land as well as Egypt. Thats why those countries now speak Arabic.

Black, White, or Asian? He was from the middle east. And parts of asia are not too far from the middle east. I think it's safe to say Jesus wasn't "white" but he was probably not "black" either. I picture him being a balance of all elasticities and a medium skin tone. But, as you say it doesn't matter at all.

He was not white, if by "white" you mean like Anglo-Saxons. He lived in ancient Palestine and Judea, so he could not have been black. Jesus would most likely have resembled a modern Jew or Fertile Crescent Arab from places such as Jerusalem, Amman, Hebron, Damascus or Basra.

i believe in jesus and the fact that he died for my sins and rose again the third day. but i do not believe that the man in the shroud is jesus. jesus was beaten to beyond recognition, the man in the shroud was obviously not. also scripture tells us that when jesus was being tortured that his beard was pulled out. the man in the shroud still has his beard.

I can see where some of his beard was pulled out, He has a broken nose a swollen face, a plaque under the chin that says LAMB in Aramaic, they found a skinned knee where he fell, pollen from Jerusalem and flowers from there, over 100 scourge marks with a Roman flagrum. They can find a perfect hologram image of our Lord. Research it more and you will believe. I know in my heart it's Him. So many don't want to believe because it's in a Catholic Church.

you must be looking at a different shroud than i see here. the face in the shroud is swollen only under one eye. the face on the shroud was not beaten beyond recognition, jesus was beaten so badly they could not tell that he was a man to look at his face. i don't care if the shroud is in a catholic church. i will not recieve salvation by believing in a shroud, only jesus himself.

I can see where some of the beard is missing, I'm sorry you can't see it, It never said all of his beard was ripped out. I just read up on it on the Internet and it still sounds like him. His body was scourged all over and was bleeding all over. If you watched Mel Gibson's movie I think that was a pretty good depiction of what He looked like. I'm sure Jesus was a beautiful Man with incredible eyes and if you saw him with pieces of His flesh ripped out all over you would say that phrase. I don't believe your Bible passage is proof that this is not Our Lord on the Shroud. You're free to believe or not.
