  • This is so good that even deaf people listen to it.

  • they should make a concert for that game with live orchestra!

  • never played the series... but this is BALLIN!

  • This track wouldve been perfect for track 1000! :)

  • @TuxedoRay I guess he has something better up his sleeves.

  • @electricmastro yep but i wouldnt b surprised if its something similar :)

  • greatest game...I remember playing this game and looking to the future of games...for about a decade after, games sucked in general seriously...less story...well a touching story and less overall music that went with certain parts of the game...the music went well with practically everything in this game. UNBELIEVABLY MEMORABLE!

  • i wounder what other games make people fall in love with VGM. for me it was glover 64 on the n64. after that it was mega man legends. on ps1. and the rest is history.=D

  • I listened to this song the night my girlfriend left me. It's ironic, I viewed it then as a period of my life ending. But little did I know it was really beginning...

This song is the perfect representation of such feelings. A journey ending so more can take their place.

  • KING K WUZ HERE 2011...FYI NOT SPAM jus tracking my progress thru the list

  • i love that song; it gives me heebie-jeebies

  • Rudis gruppe zu langsam....

    >.>

  • I feel like I hear some excerpts from the Laputa theme.

  • "...because Wild Arms is the game that made me love videogame musics."

Me too, SupraDarky :') I thought I was alone

  • I like how the url has guff in it

  • The best song of this game in my opinion.

  • The best OST ever for a Videogame. Wild Arms is on another level, far from the other games. No compare. Tks SONY and PSX for this game.

  • it might be risky but an ochestra version of this track might be just as awesome

  • It still surprises me, the quality of the music in these early RPG's. It may just be a strong sense of nostalgia giving me a bias towards them, or mabye back in the day developers knew the music had to carry some of the story to convey emotion....now it seems the focus is only on visuals but still seems to lack the same depth.

  • @420Galleon I'm in agreement. I do think nostalgia factors into the equation, but I also think that modern videogame compositions have less feeling and more showmanship in them. Showmanship isn't bad in and of itself, but when it lacks feeling, there just isn't the same oomph.

  • I got stuck in this game back when I was first playing it around 1997, moved on to FFVII and kinda forgot about it. Ten years later I decided to finally beat it. The graphics, gameplay, and story all seemed fairly dated by then, but the music truly struck me as timeless, as I loved it equally when I was 11 and when I was 21.

  • Once again I listen to this and inspires me. What an amazing composition. Thanks for letting me know this Supra, keep up the good work!

  • Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person I know who liked 2nd Ignition, one was a very good game in its own right, but the intent with second game wasn't to replicate the first, it was to create an entirely different adventure with a different feel. anyone who goes into a sequel expecting more of the same from an entirely different story is a bit naive.

  • i play wild arm 5

  • The support wasn't given , it was earned, enjoying the music ! :)

    Keep it up SupraDarky!

  • anybody know the name of the world map theme? can't find it.

  • Men thanks to you!!

you´re making i remember my childhood...

Now youtube have a sense for me

  • Where's the EPIC whistling?! Lol nah this is cool though gotta love this game and its great songs.

  • isnt the title of this "into new voyages" ?

  • ok i got a question about this song i have always liked it, then a few days ago i was flipping thru the channels on my tv when i passed AMC some music caught my attention it sounded just like this song, it was playing in some preview of like old movies talking about movie awards or something. Does anyone know any details about this song, like is it based off another old song from somewhere or something?

  • @amacfantaasy

Search (on YouTube) for 'Ecstasy of Gold' by 'Ennio Morricone'. 'Michiko Naruke', the composer for Wild Arms found inspiration through Morricone's music and paid tribute by recomposing some of his songs for the Wild Arms soundtrack.

I'm not sure if it's this exact song, but if you listen to alot of the 'Ennio Morricone' songs, you will recognise them because of the Wild Arm's OST.

It's funny because I found out the same way you did, by recognising it on an old movie preview.

  • @staids I did indeed , nice back ground information, thanks

    +1

  • @staids sry for waiting so long to respond but i knew about this connection already but what i dont know or could find any proof of is if this exact song was one from Ennio, thats really what i want to know about if To a new journey was a cover or something do you know?

  • 1, 3, and 5 are my personal favs of the series, gave them mulitple playthroughs. =)

  • @kensou2k7 funny how the odd ones are better than the even ones...

  • Wild Arms 1 beat out any other game in the series by a landslide.

to me 3 would have been good if you actually got equipment and stuff. It lacked what 1 had, and I like 2d top down wayyy better than 3d anyway haha.

  • @gmrpg2 If you say so, personally, I feel almost exactly opposite, as in #3 was my favorite, and #1 was just really, really good. They're all great, though, even #4. (admittedly, I haven't played 5 or alter code F)

  • @jigaboon Yeah, DON'T play Alter Code F unless you want to see everything that was good about the first game changed and ruined.

  • @gmrpg2 You are now my new best friend, because I agree with you completely.

  • @THEGREATMAX Glad to see that others have the same views as I do when it comes to rpgs

  • where can i download this? SO GOOD!

  • How I know my fav RPGs is that you should be able to love it like you did the first time round. I'm stll looking for a copy of Wild Arms to try it out, but Chrono games I love the same everytime. Most Final Fantasies I'll admit I like the first time but second go arounds are usually meh. VII wasn't meh, but it wasn't amazing go 2 either. VI on the other hand...

  • The Wild ARMs OST was the first video game soundtrack I purchased too :) thank you for your hard work putting all of the best VGM out there for us to enjoy, discuss, and share.

  • I'm glad that this awesome game made you enjoy video game music. ^^ I love Wild Arms! :D

  • i cried at this sog because i finished the game and wanted more of it. real nostalgic. i have a huge inpact on WA.

  • ...you mean it has a huge impact on you...?

  • yep!

  • Utterly beautiful . :]

  • I totaly agreed when you said that the language in the original was far more charming. In the remake was like the story was told to some litle children. The gameplay was good though. So to me is like nowdays the gameplay have more atention than the plot.

  • Yes. It did feel that way. In the original version, when they gave you a piece of 'wisdom' whether by an elder or off a bookshelf, it was very beautifully written. Almost lyrical. You're absolutely right about gameplay. It's because games have become so mainstream I think. It just comes with the territory I guess.

  • the remake was horid, I did not play past the beginning, it just made me mad.

No equipment, the remixed songs werent as good, the story as you said was rewritten, they shouldnt have done that. They changed the best parts about the game and I just couldnt deal with that.

  • Thank you for posting this Darky! Amazing music, even more amazing game. I agree with the DasRaskalKing. Times change, and sadly, those of us who remember when makers actually tried at making amazing plots that stick with you a long with -fun- gameplay, is decidedly rare these days. =/

  • Rare, maybe.

    But not non-existent. ^^

  • Very true, I enjoyed the Shadow Heart series, and the Tales of the Abyss had a really good plot and the gameplay was a lot of fun! They are there. But the original Wild Arms, had a kind of charm that the games of that generation had, that newer games lack. I can't quite put my finger on it, but -- it's there. But that's only my opinion too. =)

  • I call that... "Be nostalgic" ;D

  • I am inclined to disagree. It was the structure of the plots.Tthe language in the original, was far more charming then the remake. The flow was poetic. Usually, philosophy and ideals were often woven in the old RPG game plots that was grander and oftetimes bordered the plot.. Then again this is from a writer's perspective. I was drawn in very heavily then -and it couldn't have been nostaligia because I had just played it.

  • Comment removed

  • I think it was in the final part of the game

  • Wow, wild arms really has cool music. I never played it. But thanks for sharing :)

  • i love the intro

  • One of the best RPG I ever played, along with FF7 and lunar 1&2

  • at the beggining I thought it was going to be a samba... I love games songs too, I have my own collection so.. if anybody wants to share, feel free to contact ! thanks for posting it

  • The're is a STRIKING resemblance comparing this piece to BEST VGM 5 (Silent Hill 2 / Theme of Laura)!

  • My favorite piece in the game, can't remember where it's played though..

Absolutely loves when the base drops in at 1:25 , it gives a really great feeling with high volume and great quality sound.

  • don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying this gaming era as much as the next guy but.

I feel like we don't have this anymore

  • Just like Music in general, as time goes by, things change, and they never go back to what they were.

I love this game more than just about any, and I truly wish games these days could have the great story and amazing OSTs games back in the day have.

All people care about these days is game play. But when you think about it, an RPG should be like a good book! Story and mood are everything.

Wild Arms is one of the games that knows where the efforts should be focused.

  • My favorite songs are Hyrule Field (OoT) and Walking Forward With Determination (Golden Sun 2)

  • Everyone's putting up what 2 games have their fav songs so I guess for me Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. But to count one other besides Chrono I'd say either Zelda or Donkey Kong Country(namely 2).

  • John Wayne would have played this game, and he would have loved it.

  • back when i buyed mi PS this was my first RPG game, i loved it so much, i so much enjoyed to play the game conected to a 70watts amplifier whith 15'' woofers, to feel this song with all that bass power, it was just beautifull.

years have passed and i still have those nice memories of this game.

  • this song is beautiful...

  • gotta throw some chickens....find some heal berries

  • yeah, Wild Arms is one of the first games I played because of its great soundtrack.

  • wild arms and final fantasy made me like vgms especially the whistle theme for wild arms when i was a midgit i could not get enough of it

  • Same here, mate.

    FF and Wild Arms ftw.

  • Wow so nostalgic. The Wild Arms series is my favorite video game series. Michiko Naruke is awesome, and when I heard the songs she arranged for Brawl I was so overjoyed :3

  • I'd like to know which songs she directed in Brawls, for she's one of my favorite japanese Compo :O

  • Ocarina of Time Medley and Stickerbrush Symphony (Bramble Blast). Coincidentally they're my top two favorites from Brawl XD

  • Thank you, and yes, these are two great songs. :)

  • *.* !! awesome tune!

  • CORRECTION

    Fuckin awesome tune

  • CORRECTION

    Mutha' Fuckin' Awesome Tune

  • CORRECTION

    I stand corrected

  • sounds awesome.

  • I love this song so much that it gives me goosebumps. One of the best ending themes ever.

  • I know, it's so awesome. ^_______________^

  • Wish I played some Wild Arms rather than so much Final Fantasy now, very sweet_^)

  • Wild Arms mixing of Western and Eastern culture for RPGs

  • Love all soundtracks from wild arms specially the 2 intro of 2nd ignition in full.

  • I've never played any Wild Arms before but after watching your vids I have to agree they have some of the best VG music I've heard

  • I love this track! Does anyone know where I can buy this piece?

  • Chin's Chicken & Tofu Mart. Crispiest pieces ever.....you were tawkin' bout chicken pieces right...??? If not....EH???

  • I had no idea music from the wild arms series was this good. Thanks Darky for all the uploads!!

  • wild arms is the best! kudos to this great soundtrack

  • now that i have the time I need to go and finish this awnsome game.

  • I miss Wild Arms 1 and 2 :(

  • you have great taste in music and games! I just bought the 10th anniversary OST for this game off of ebay. I'm turning 24 on Friday - when I turned 12, this game and PS1 was my birthday present! And to think that some people dismiss the emotional significance of video games.. Thanks for sharing.

  • I agree. I like Breath of Fire III, Wild Arms, and Legend of Mana because something about them touches my heart more than Final Fantasy VII, though I really love that game too. A lot of Final Fantasy games are great. ^^ Some games though are like some grand adventure with excellent gameplay and a good plot, but they don't really have that special "feeling" to it. I loved Dragon Quest VIII for example which had that "feeling" to it but VII even had more of that feeling.

  • Honestly, I can't remember how much I enjoyed VII. I think I like VIII more but idk. Anyways, I like LOZ: Link's Awakening more than Ocarina of Time for the same reason. Ocarina of Time is my second favorite Zelda game and Link's Awakening is my first. My third is the Oracle games and then Wind Waker.

  • BEST rpg games ever are: alundra, Breath of fire 3 and wild arms!

  • Yep! ^^ Though I don't know much about Alundra. :(

  • Alundra is an amazing "Zelda" like game.

But its so much more, and so much different. So worth checking out, if you can.

Do not bother with the steaming pile of VG bits that is Alundra Two though.

  • So one is good and two is crap huh? It sucks when some games in a series is good and some are bad huh? Like Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter, at least compared to the rest of the series.

  • Ah yes.....Dragon Quarter.

    It just wasn't the same.

I love the third. Its possible my favorite RPG ever. And the first two are amazing.

    But the five......eh.....

  • Same here. III is also my favorite. What about IV though? What do you have to say about that game? And yeah, V is way different, an in a bad way. It's definitely a bad turn of events... And I can't really tell how exactly X-2 and XII are bad Final Fantasy games, at least compared to the first 10. And I don't know what to say about XI, the online one. I don't know anything about it. Perhaps you don't know anything about Breath of Fire IV. Do you know?

  • Haven't played four ever.

    ^^

  • That's too bad. My brother Adam think it's crap, but I thought the ending at least was pretty good. The duel with Ryu and Fou-lu... It's cool. ^^

lol. Mhy ex is all saying how much she likes Grandia but hates Grandia II or whatever, like how it's retarded that a character stated that another character has wins she can fly and she forgot. She's like "Oh yeah..."

Whatever, I don't like my ex-girlfriend. She really isn't too sci-fi, which I kind of like too. I wanted her to like .Hack and stuff.

  • Well I showed her Star Ocean and she likes that. :) Though it involces Sci-fi when it comes to people going to other planets and meeting humanoid aliens, it's actually pretty fantasy-thened. .Hack is sort of like that... It's based on in an MMORPG, though it revolves around a bit too much data like stuff like viruses and glitches and things that can make you go into a coma and stuff. Comas and the things that cause it is the central conflict to the series. Some people criticize it sadly.

  • And like, Xenosaga is completely Sci-fi though, and weird... It has it's pros and cons too like .Hack.

  • And for anime, like Fullmetal Alchemist. Loads of people like that, but not her, because it's too sci-fi with the alchemy and chemistry elements... Ugh... I love that stuff. I love Chemistry and how elements can mix together. Doing that super fast, changing one thing to something else superfast is Alchemy. Wouldn't it kick ass to do that, especially if you didn;t need to make a transmutation circle? Damn, I hope I would even be able to draw one good...

  • Heh, I love the OAV of Fullmetal Alchemist where Edward is a Great-Grandpa or something and he's 100 yeas old and he has someone that looks like Edward, Alphonse, and Winry when they were little and he lives in the real world now with Alphonse and at one point the little kids try to do alchemy though they can't. It's really cute. :)

What exactly is an OAV though? How do oyu see them normally? I only see them on youtube.

  • the fifth BOF game wasn't that good, but it did have it's good points, the third one was absolutely brilliant, so were the first two, the fourth one didn't stand out enough from three, but it was a decent game

  • 2 was alright, but 3 was definitely the best of the series. I loved the characters! And the twists were really deep and fuckin cool!

and did anyone else get hella pissed about having to fight the end boss for like an hour and a half?

  • The final bosses in the Lunar series got on my nerves too, except the one in Dragon Song was actually easy. (Plus, that one was a major let-down just like Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter. :( Why are the best things becoming crappy too? So unfair.)

LOL. I sadly never beat Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. :( But I got as far as the final boss. Same for my younger brother. We played that game together on our own separate files. Sad, isn't it? So we both looked up the ending. XD

  • @AkumaUchitoru lol, i got stuck in the last area in Eternal Blue, i had no healing items and they wouldnt let me go back to the world map.(i also had to look up the ending) I beat silver star, but i was so young...something about having to play the harp to keep luna from killing you? and two fights with galleon...

  • Wild Arms, Suikoden, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire, Alundra - all got much worse over time as new, inferior iterations were released. Small exceptions for BoF II and Suikoden II, which were good, but for all those series the original was clearly the best.

Persona on the other hand gets better with time. Lunar's been pretty steady.

  • @StewNWT

Yay, you know a lot of games that I like. :D The third Breath of Fire was really good though, and so was Legend of Mana. Dragon Quarter and Dawn of Mana was pretty boring though. :(

One of the reasons why I like Legend of Mana is simply because it's very beautiful. :)

  • @AkumaUchitoru The 3rd BoF was certainly long, still think the 2nd was the best. I loathed Legend of Mana - it was beautiful, as was the music, but the gameplay was just beyond horrible. It was barely even 2 dimensional as the entire game characters moved like they were walking against water, esp vertically. The weapon/skill development systems had no discernable pattern at all. Worst was getting XP through those lil crystals instead of being shared, you could never make you NPC grab them

  • @StewNWT

I thought both games had a very deep story to them at some points, that's why there my favorites. I have to admit, in some ways LoM is boring, even with it's in-depth gameplay. You can get special skills by doing certain abilities and have different weapons.

Well, all I really need is my self to get leveled up since the game is mostly a piece of cake, unless you change the difficulty with the forbidden book when you beat the game.

  • Also, at one point after you beat the Luon Highway with Nicollo and maybe doing the first quest in Gato, you can help Daena at the Inn in Domina. If you answer these questions that she asks you right, you can go meet Geaus and then you get an item called the Forbidden Ring.

If you wear it, the experience will be shared among your party members, so there you go. :)

The game was also poetic at the beginning and the end and I loved that. Some people say it's their favorite as well as BOFIII.

  • Awesome soundtrack, from an awesome RPG. <3

  • OH MY GOD <3 This track is great. I really need to get Wild ARMs.

  • Awesome. For the 100th song, nothing says "thanks" like this one. This one just says "keep the support up for the next 100."

  • Great Music, I have to play this game.

  • omg! yes!!!!!!!!1 Wild Arms as one of the best games ever, truely just a outstanding game! An so much fuN! ^^ u just can't go wrong w/ this game! :3

  • annndddd....Subscribe!

  • I'd forgotten about this particular tune. Very nice. Also, you are doing a great job. I may have to subscribe...

  • wow this is a really fucking good song the game had a great soundtrack but i cant find it anywere

  • The games on eBay, but be prepared to shell out a fair bit for it. The songs are on galbadia and bluelaguna. Hope it helps you.

  • yea i wouldent expect anythign less, not a game u just come around ill probly find it at a pawnshop or something

  • if you have a psp or ps3 you can download it legally for your psp or ps3 for 6$on the PS store =D (I bought it of course :) )

  • How cool is that!

  • The first and quite possibly the best Wild ARMS game!

  • Damn man , i just fell in love with this song

  • AHHHHH DAMN THIS IS GOOD !

  • This sounds really good , what is the name of the composer of this song?

  • Michiro Naruke. She's my favorite composer along with Uematsu, Mitsuda and Yamane.

  • She's skilled man , but still ... Nothing compared to Uematsu :P

    Uematsu = God

  • Uematsu is not god, pal. He has composed hundreds of songs and only about 2% is good. The only good things he's done are from Chrono Trigger (3 songs) and Final Fantasy III (almost the whole soundtrack). Final Fantasy III is his masterpiece, but he died there.

  • Pff. Just no. I'd take any of the first three Wild Arms soundtracks over anything he's composed. Not that he's bad at all, but they just don't seem to have as much... personality. There's something to be said for someone who can make a track that sounds good about anywhere, of course, but Michiro Naruke is amazing at crafting a setting through the music she composed for this series.

Either way, this "series" gets massive kudos for a Wild Arms sendoff. A very appropriate track choice.

  • Great music! This really works well as the 100th VGM, in many ways. I plan on buying one of these Wild Arm games at some point. I have your videos to thank for that...

  • Congratulations, d00d. I think I'm gonna make a mix CD based on your list, you have a good taste.

  • Wow, that track is really nice. Congrats on making it to 100, can't wait to hear the next hundred :)

  • So awesome! I'm currently playing Alter Code F. I love Wild ARMS wish I could find a copy of three though.

  • do it on an emulator!
