Any good pilot can do that, its easier than landing on land because you can move forward while landing, its like a really really really slow plane, kinda like landing a toy plane accept your life depends on it.

Prince William is a gifted pilot. And he doesn't have to do this. He said he joined the RAF so that when the day comes when he's pinning medals on other servicemen , he can look them in the eye as someone who also served in the military. Great guy.

@buckeyenut39 There are only two "sensors" (I assume you are thinking of the submersion actuators) one is above the pilots head, the other at the bottom of the flight compartment (Both internal). The tape is used to secure all panels that aren't particularly waterproof (The nose bay and battery bay above it for example). The other duct tape is used to mask up the ground power connections, and vents from tanks (Fuel tanks etc)

BTW...I'm a SEAKING ENGINEER for the Royal Navy...Just Saying...

The tape is put there as a precaution (the seals aren't great). The Seaking was designed to land on water in an emergency, and stay afloat, prior to recovery. The bottom is designed the same as a boat for that very reason. Pilots need to be able to "emergency" land on water, and it needs to be able to take off afterwards.If everything wasn't taped up, the compartments could flood, leaving the aircraft overweight, and unable to lift off. £1.00 Tape Versus £1M Aircraft.

@buckeyenut39 You could be wrong though. This is more a demonstration than a training exercise. The tape could well be there to stop excessive amounts of water interfering with such sensors and of course to stop water seeping into where it shouldnt as once he takes off he will need to fly back to base as normal. As the aircraft is only really meant to land on water in an emergency. It would also get grounded if water got into electrics, intakes, etc.
