They left out a major part of the problem in Russia. Sure, the murder rates may be lower than most U.S. cities, or the reported murder rates, but there is a great deal of racially motivated attacks all over Russia. I am sure the camera crew and the two counterfeit body guards (and possibly many other actual body guards and security that were not shown in the video) served as a disincentive for any would-be attackers. As much as I can disagree with some of his views, I enjoy Mark Ames journalism. He is a westerner with quite a bit of knowledge on Russia. However, Russia has a Fight Culture - most Russian violence is settled with fists and most murders are with knives, blunt objects, exes etc. Russia is a vionet place, with a homicide rate much higher than that of the United States - but it is lucky that it has no gun culture, the homicide rate would be 5 times higher.

They left out a major part of the problem in Russia. Sure, the murder rates may be lower than most U.S. cities, or the reported murder rates, but there is a great deal of racially motivated attacks all over Russia. I am sure the camera crew and the two counterfeit body guards (and possibly many other actual body guards and security that were not shown in the video) served as a disincentive for any would-be attackers. This is a nice propaganda piece.
