I play all songs by ear, but I know some guitarists/bassists that learn songs with Guitar Pro, a really cool software that show you the frets and strings that you must play in your fretboard. Try to download and crack it via E-mule and download the "gp files" on tablatures(dot)tk. I´m sure you´ll find good X´s tabs

Here I play with a Precision Jazz Bass, and the Split Coil (Precision) is selected. Maybe the strings make my sound with more trebble. I don´t have money to buy a Rickenbacker, haha.
