@Talshet Mi28 use standart thermobaric missiles wich can destroy mordern tanks without direct hit about 12 meters next to it. The most of this unguided missiles wich are thermobaric can destroy bunkers. It has the biggest ATGMs like the Karen AA10, the warhead is the biggest, it can destroy big buildings it could destroy The WTC. 90kg Warhead of THEAT,HESH,HEAT,MHEAT or Thermobaric. The 30mm canon fittet with DU like Apache, the range of the bordcanon is max 8km both.AA missiles fires 6-15km.

@464928952 ; Yes, different choppers that were deployed in exactly the same role: the Huey proving very inadequate. Battlefield facts: countless times Hueys had to land to deliver or pick troops in the midst of the battle, showing extreme vulnerability -thousands were shot down. Not the wisest solution to the violent nature of the environment where it was deployed. The Soviet solution with the Hind was monumental: BRUTAL punch and power of destruction, armored, and also WAY faster than the Huey.

Soviets lost about 2 hinds a year.

I'd say that's a pretty damn good number - especially when considering the enemy had access to US anti air missiles.

@Suyamu: And compare Hind losses in Afghan with the horrific helicopter losses the U.S. suffered in Vietnam. The UH-1 was a fine, noble machine but proved extremely vulnerable even to small fire arms, with those 2 huge side doors open, exposed pilots, and virtually zero armor. One AK-47 could more than enough to shoot it down. Aware of such tremendous vulnerability they made hastily field adaptions fitting it with defensive guns and rockets. The Hind did not bother with such concerns.

Russian Helicopters are good, but sadly they forgot that there was something called SAM !!!

Its only good against weak and civilians the reason they was used in Afganistan was mostly killing civilians

Well the Mi-24 was shoot down many times in Afganistan when US CIA supplied the Mujahedin with Stingers.

The MI-24 ALWAYS had weapons on it in Afganistan it was war..

The last knock out off one was the 2 Febuary 1989. also by a stinger.
