  • I'm not too emotional, but I was close to crying when Ii heard this. Some songs that I've heard that were sung by Carreras can bring a lump in my throat. His voice seems to move me more than that of other tenors. I don't know why.

  • :) Beautiful song, and nicely sung by one of my all-time favorite singers. Jose still has a lovely voice to this day. I wish I can see him in concert again and perhaps meet him. :) What an experience that would be!

  • fabulous voice and great orchestration!!!!!!! rated highest 11+ great song too thank you poster just this great clip. ROGHARM

  • @rogharm

Thank you for the great comment. I love this interpretation, too.

    C.

  • Love, love this interpretation. It is as if this song was written for you to sing it. You are an artist capable of transmitting with your incredible voice, tenderness and passion like few others. Thank you Mr Carreras

  • I have never heard a version of this that touches me like this one.

  • How Beuatifull. By "The Other Guy" Elaine nicely put.

  • How can you listen to this song and not cry? I can't.

  • Neither can I, ijohnno. C.

  • @ijohnno I was pretty darn close. :')

  • Outstanding, artist...Bravo!

  • such a beautiful voice singing such a beautiful song, thank you!

  • Thank you for the comment. The song kills me...and the first time ever I saw Jose, that about killed me, too.

  • Dear Claudia, bravo for your choice. This song had been written by Ewan McColl for Peggy Seeger (sister of Pete) 1958, his wifenhe have sung for her by phone.

The first recording of this song have been done by the Kingston Trio II of J. Stewart,in this original version the Trio sings "The first time ever I kiss your lips" the true lyrics are "I kiss your mouth", LP Capitol NEW FRONTIER recorded september 26;1962 released november 261962

  • But for me the best version is by Roberta Flack (1971) in the movie of Clint Eastwood "Play misty for me" 1971, fantastic. The song won a Grammy Award in 1972. Peggy has recorded this song in 1983 in London 6 years only before the death of his husband Ewan. You can hear this recording on "EWAN MacCOLL - ANTIQUITIES" 2 cd set 36551 41492 released 1998. Great versions by Elvis Presley and Peter, Päul and Mary..I did a mistake 1957 no 1958 for the song.

  • @ceb2633 The same thing happened to me. :) Jose is a great guy in looks, personality and voice, all in one.

  • what a beautiful voice and song...
