  • I'm not a magician, I just love watching this stuff...the card appearances at the end are just fantastic, really well done. You'd love me in the audience, I'm so easily fooled!

  • Well done Matthew, good work and well deserved.

However I make it a custom of mine to always find atleast one flaw, and so here I'll say that your use of the "smoke" was very underused I think. But beyond that I have no critisms, the ring routine was wonderful aswell as baffling and the card work was handled masterfully.

    xx

  • absolutely smooth and amazing no doubt

  • so this is what would happen if richard hammond went into magic

  • The ring/linking ring routine is very well executed. I do similar tricks with borrowed rings. I'm working on vanishing a borrowed chain of keys and sleighting it onto the linking ring, but I haven't figured out how to misdirect from the loud clinking sounds (yet)

Either way, great routine. Just the way he handles the deck deserves an award. Whether he's using incredible shuffle tracking or a *very* clean switch, I'm duly impressed either way.

  • Matthew, first of all congratulations on magician of the year. As a young magician, aspiring to join the magic circle, I was just wondering if you had any tips for where I could learn to excel at magic, or any tips on acceptance to the magic circle.

I'm currently 16 years old, so I have a few years to hone my magic prowess before my 18th birthday.

Please reply, and good luck with your future.

Sincerely, Ollie Hall, a huge fan of monty the spiv

  • this trick is very similar to James Galea's 673 king st trick, does any one know if he borrowed certain parts or is it a universal trick

  • Essentially universal.

Story deck tricks were first used as religious stories.

The story I use (Monty The Spiv) was created by the late Harry Stanley (I think he died in 1968?) and Fred Lowe.

In America "Sam The Bellhop" performed by Bill Malone is the best known.

  • Hey Matthew, I really enjoy your routine. Good job, man!

  • That ace came from nowhere. Wow

  • Beautiful materialization at the end. Very nice.

  • this is wae better than all 3 of my ring tricks combined lol
