They are trained to defuse situations without having to use deadly force, tasers are only used when necessary and there is specially trained police units who carry firearms and are called when they are needed. And if you think Britain doesn't have any crime maybe you should come spend some time here in some of the rougher parts of the country.

This was on a cops episode some time ago. They even had an officer show the damage to the cab to the camera, from it hitting that light post, and the scary part is, that pole nearly cut that cab in half. The van was a G-ride, whatever the hell that means....
Some police officers are becoming very stupit in a police chase. The best way in stopping a get away car is to shoot out the tyries on the car, but to do that, the offices must make sure that their are no hostages on the car with the bad guy's. If you shoot out the bad guy's tyries then you must shoot out the front tyries, because then he won't be able to control the vehicle at speed, it is also the same for the back tyries as well.
This maybe a stupid question, but for any police chases, beside charging the suspect with those serious crimes like running from the police, resisting arrest,ect...what about traffic tickets, do they count the number of how many red light he ran,stop signs, lane change violations,ect...any law enforcement officers here? or does anyone know?

This is why they allow it to go on, if it goes on for more than a few miles they get permission to take the guy out. Yes, officers can end a chase in minutes. But it's all about safety and orders. The officer can of course end a pursuit by just doing a PIT manuever and he's done. But the officer has to think about his own safety and all civilians safety. Here it's night and it seems that there's no one walking on those dark streets, but there could always be someone there. And plus an officer can't just drive next the suspect, he can shoot the officer
