The owner of the dog wants the traps moved if i was the one who set the traps and he tried to tell me to move the traps i would say fuck you im not moving my traps for shit your fuckin dog shouldent have gone by the trap.
exageration at its worst by the media. learn to control your pets folks. The guy could have been worse about it though...he seems to be under control.
@LocalDogRescue go rescue a dog asshole. The trap was legally set, it had a tag they should have called the owner in fact that guy should geta fine he broke a legally set trap hes a dumbass and so are you one of my fathers beagles got caught in a foothold and starved to death cause i guy didnt release it thats carelssness this wasn't
It's very simple to open those traps. Just depress the springs and it comes right open. That guy must have no common sense. Please turn in your man card!
I just have to ask doesn't Kellog have a leash law? Secondly if trapping is legal then don't let your dog wander ahead. If your Dog is trained and fed properly it wont go trying to eat things it finds. Thirdly that is one of the easiest traps to open. A hammer and chissel would do it in about 3-5 swats
well that guy obviously didn't know how to open the trap. the trapper should have picked a better place to put the trap. and why the hell didn't the new say that it wasn't a bear trap, because that trap is to small to catch a bear. it is a 220 body gripper.
great fucking trap - one that doesnt come off, why the fuck didnt he just drive with the dog to a fucking vet/hospital/fire station where they would have got something to pry it open instead of waiting 4 days so he can decide to kill the dog... what a twat he was clearly just trying to sue for more - cunt
hahah, fuck that dog. and his fat fuck owner. i drive around and shoot innocent dogs in peoples back yards, i hate dogs also it is alot of fun to set them on fire and watch them burn alive, hahahahaha fuck these animals and their owners
That was a 330 conibear ..wich can be set in about 30 seconds ..,,I do feel sorry for the dog but ,,, 4 days to get the trap off,,,, two cars pulling at it,,, ,Holy F word...
This is horrible! first of all people who are saying "put the dog on a chain" or @cowboywithspurs36 saying "hope at least ate the dog after it was trapped" is horrible and heartless. first of all these traps shouldnt be out in the world and animals should be safe and second how dare you say they should eat the dog. this is cruelty.
@dpattisonvoumard1 that trap isnt ment for bear, it mostly ment for smaller animals like racoon, and things that are about that size, but both sides are at fault, the owner should have had there dog on a leash, but the trapper shouldnt have had his trap anywhere near the trail just for that reason., and as for pulling it apart with a car, if you know how to get these traps open you can almost get it apart with your hands, but i do agree that the trap shouldnt have been placed near the trail
I feel sorry for this dog because it died due to being owned by a moron. I can open a 220 with my hands. Plus, if he didn't know how to get the trap off, why did he wait 4 days to call someone? I also wonder if there is a leash law in the area? Also, the news crew did no research and is giving an irresponsible report. They've provided a ton of misinformation to the public and have no journalistic integrity. Pathetic overall....
if it took him 4 days to get the trap of his foot, then the dog owner is a retard. I actually use these traps on beavers there is a way to open them how about look it up, obviously you he didn't care about the dog very much .
I wonder why the hell this guy was not ticketed for violating the leash law? His dog would be alive today if only he did not violate the law, but instead he has a dead dog and is walking free of punishment while bad mouthing a legal trap.
seriously a 220 conibear for a bear? what the hell didnt this guy get. its common sence how to run a conibear. but that trap should not have been there it makes us trappers look like and gives bunny humpers a reason to want to ban trapping
If it took this man four days and a truck to figure out how to release a conibear trap I agree he isn't wise enough to care for his dog. This video is ridiculous. First no laws were broken, second the man that is complaining is a total ignorant fool. In four days I am sure the net or a game warden could have instricted him on how to release his un leashed pet!
it is sad that that happened cause i know someone who has caught a dog before but they didnt say once that the trap was in an illegal location so they should probably eather have there dog tied up or trained to not wonder off like that i know in minnesota during some months if theres a wondering dog around its legal to kill it cause they chase and kill deer
First if all its illegal to trap a bear in every state in the USA except in Maine. Second of all its not a bear trap. Third is that the trap can be removed easily by compressing the springs. 4th is this guys full of it that his dog was in the trap for 4 days and if his dog was why did he not seek help to remove the trap. I tell you all that and much more doesn't add up with what this guy is saying here. That guys full of it. But I do feel bad for the dog.
That's not a bear trap it's a 330 coni. That can easily opened with hands too and that is a complete lie about it being in the trap for 4 days. The dog was surely killed on impact, but they just left in the trap for days because he's too weak to open the trap!
It's ridiculous that this poor dog suffered for 4 days in that trap! Surely there had to, as someone said, a trapping organization or hunting association that would know how to open this trap. I also find it hard to believe it'd be that hard to open.
Re: the dog on a leash, it's common to allow your dog off leash on property like that. But this owner was cruel and I feel he should be brought up on charges. How inhumane!!
These are the kind of people that need to stick to concrete side walks not hiking trails. These are the same people you see in the woods during firearm season with out wearing orange walking or hiking. Another resason leash laws are not effective, they do not inforce them. Be kind to your sportsman after all they are helping to control your wild game populations, without them wide spread disease, starvation, overpopulation, would plague your wild animals.
The more a waste my valuable time looking at this video the more i realize how absurd it is. Firstly if as they say, the dog was in the trap for four days (i'm assuming still alive) and they were unable to get the trap opened, why did they not contact the wildlife service or a trapping organization. Secondly if they would have really tried to pull the trap apart between two cars it would have come apart. and thridly what would make you assume that it was a bear trap.
are you kidding me, I could use a bolt cutter to cut that fairly quickly, also, he could have just pushed down on the springs to open it, probably without harm, stupid people.
he should be brought to court for animal cruelty, probably thought it was his problem and decided that he;d fix it, but he could have safed the dog easily.
That was a 330 conibear, used mostly as a beaver trap, but can also be used for lynx or bobcat i imagine. 100% NOT a bear trap. I am a trapper and although i have no problem with people trapping,i think we have a responsibility to be careful about where we set traps..probably not a good idea on a trail where people walk their dogs. When something like this happens the idiots in the media and anti trappers take it and run with it
Perfect example of our "bleeding heart" media turning a issue into being something its not. Its funny how a simple 330 Conibear trap can be misconstrued into being a Bear Trap. Fine Reporting! Our liberal reporters and government are flirting with eventually robbing our freedom as outdoorsman and essentially taking away our right as Americans to provide for ourselves and our families.
This is complete propaganda aimed at Americas heritage, and outdoorsman. The authorities clearly stated the trapper was no to blame, but yet the media still calls it a bear trap, and broadcasts the segment. If this really happened, and that guy left his dog in the trap for four days,HE is to blame for the dogs death, and HE should be brought up on cruelty charges.I beleive He stole someones trap, and made the whole thing up.BTW,the traps safety clip is still clipped on one of the springs.
I agree, if a dog had been caught in a conibear trap it would have been dead by the time he got there, secondly if he had tried to pull the trap apart with a car it would have come apart, and thirdly a conibear trap can be opened by hand with a rope. I think this is a hoax.
Its dog owners like him that made NY state pass new conibear laws, making it a pain in the butt to trap raccoons. People need to learn to put their fricken dogs on a leash. All of the cases in NY that happen like that except for one were also off their leash.
That is a body-grip type trap, small, not a bear trap. The dog could have been saved if he knew how to push the springs down. They are like safety pin springs, you squeeze the > shaped springs and they release easily. If you try to separate the jaws they won't release, that is where people fail. Trapping in city limits is wrong with bodygrips, but most cities require dogs to be on a leash too. If his dog ran out in front of a car this wouldn't have made the news.
Another perfect example of the liberal media propaganda, nice deceptive title. That thing is so far from being a bear trap it isn't even funny. The dog would have been fine, had the owner not been a moron.
I feel for the loss of their dog. There is no one to blame but those who failed to have the dog under control. Control being on a LEASH. The trap was set properly, and legally. You can set traps within city limits unless the city has regs against doing so. Don't blame the trapper and/or the Heritage. You wouldn't let your child wander off in to the woods, because he/she may get hurt, lost, or injured. So don't allow your dog for the same reasons, especially during hunting/trapping seasons.
That is a duke 110 I have 15 of them I live in colorado. Toothed jaw traps are illegal but do to assholes I can nolonger use any spring trap only snares. The body gripper is a safe and easy trap to use I stuck my arm into one onse with a friend and I got out without any help. Your dog would have probly been fine four several days it is not that hard to open I would have had it open in a minute even in deep snow. The even the heaviest models don't excide 200 kilo's and thats looks like a fifty.
It was just an accident. Not a bear trap, just a large version of the simple rat trap called a conibear. He should have had his dog on a leash but there are a lot of people who don't because their dogs are well trained. I can understand that. As far as destroying the trap, the dog owner had no right. It is illegal to tamper with trappers' equipment. I do agree that the trapper should set his traps farther away from everything. Bear traps still exist but aren't used.

I don't care if its illegal or not, to mess with a trap. If I see an animal in one of these things I will take the trap, and release the animal!!!!!..... And the same gos for all those other stupid laws that protect hunters
In Pa. conibears which are body traps NOT bear traps are to be set in water only. Some states allow them to be used on land. this is one of those grey areas
Look at the facts. It was trapping season. It appears to have been a legally set trap. The owner did not keep his pet on leash where it would be belonged. Why try to blame the trapper for the owner killing his own pet thru negligence, ignorance and even by his own hands? The pet owner should have been charged for destroying the trap which was private property.
That was not a trap line, it was a city park. Most people have no clue how to remove one also. Maybe instructions on how to remove them and an 8ft section of rope to do so should be included with the trap to be set legally. The dog owner according to the law was well within his right to destroy the trap.
Idiots. There is no such thing as a bear trap since the 1800's. It is illegal and non existent. The dog was caught in a legally set trap designed for smaller animals - the dog owners were probably disobeying a leash law. What a jerk - he could have made one phone call to learn how to take the trap off and save his dogs life.
I can set one of them traps in 2 minutes seems to be a #220 or #330,,,If you are aware of traps keep ur animal on a leash,,,im a trapper and only trap private property where no dogs are near

Keep your dog on a leash. The trap is/was a 330 conibear. Great trap, I only use them in water set.

thats a beaver trap and its not hard to get off if you know how. if people are traveling on a registered trap line its at there own risk.
davegrohn1888 3 years ago
That was not a trap line, it was a city park. Most people have no clue how to remove one also. Maybe instructions on how to remove them and an 8ft section of rope to do so should be included with the trap to be set legally. The dog owner according to the law was well within his right to destroy the trap.

Idiots. There is no such thing as a bear trap since the 1800's. It is illegal and non existent. The dog was caught in a legally set trap designed for smaller animals - the dog owners were probably disobeying a leash law. What a jerk - he could have made one phone call to learn how to take the trap off and save his dogs life.
