I haveing trouble trying to figure out what speakers to get for my car and I seen your YouTube video about asking you guys and yall would help me out.....I have a 2001 KIA sephia and the speakers plain ouT SUCK lol...I'm running an after market head unit 400watts x 4 Sony mex-bt3800U new. Now I'm ready for interior speakers. I listen to really loud music I want it to sound like I got a pair of ear buds in crisp and clear. I can get a sub later for bass so bass is not to much of a issue. I listen
@killerfishthensum1 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Your Sony stereo does not provide “400watts x 4” it’s actually rated to produce up to 17 watts RMS x4. You’ll want to choose speakers that fit the factory location, have a low minimum power requirement, and have a high sensitivity rating. You can use the “Outfit My Car” section of the Crutchfield website to see the models we recommend to fit and you can also call for a personalized recommendation: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
With a jigsaw, a drill, and some nuts and bolts you can make almost anything fit. I just shoehorned some 'oversized' 6 1/2 Infinity's in the doors of my little old Previa which came stock with 4" speakers.
@kingJim4 There’s a little more to it than that. The Kappa speakers are efficient enough to work well off a factory or aftermarket stereo, but their higher power handling allows you to use an aftermarket amplifier to power them to their full potential. While you can add an amplifier to a factory stereo, you will need to find a model with “speaker level inputs” or you can use an external “line output converter”. Feel free to call for assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
Ignore any negative comments on these speakers. I have the Kappa 693.9i 3-way 6X9's and the Kappa 60.9cs 2-way components. And I must say, they are AMAZING! From the bass to the highs. They produce the most realistic sound when powered with a great amp like my Kappa Four amp. If anyone is thinking about buying these... DO IT! I have all Infinity Kappa products and none of them have let me down.
Good point, we wondered about that as well, so we tested these with many aftermarket and factory radios. So far we haven't found a stereo that can't handle the lower impedance.
Remember, the radio is probably designed for 4-ohm speakers, and with the length of the speaker wire, and the heat on that wire, the impedance the radios "sees" is pretty close to 4-ohm when a 2-ohm speaker is used. Higher than 4-ohm with a 4-ohm speaker.
I just bought the Kappa 693.9i 3 way 6x9. And they are incredible! People these are not harsh speakers! If you are having problems with harshness you need a nice eq to tame and tweek these speakers and its beautiful!
Since '95 ive only used infinity or pioneer for my hi's and mid's and have been more than pleased with the sound reproduction, duribility and quaility. that said, i replaced all four factory speakers with some spakin new682.9cf's and was beyond disapointment. one of the tweeters didn work and the rest struggle at mid-hi volume. when i ordered them i was like yes, opening the box i was like hell yea, listening to them i was like WTF. Porb just got a bad lot, the replacments should be uo to par.
My dad has a 2004 Dodge Ram with the Infinity sound system in it, but now the driver side speakers are going out. Would we be able to just replace the speakers themselves, or will we have to get a new head unit as well? He likes the sound quality that they have, so do I, and they are a massive upgrade from the standard speakers.
Assuming it's the speakers going bad, and not the left amplifier channel in the factory radio/amp, then yes, you can replace the speakers without replacing the radio.
You could replace them with factory replacement Infinity speakers, or with aftermarket speakers like the ones we sell.
You should call us to discuss the particulars, but it certainly can be done.
Yes you can, but you probably shouldn't. They are 2-ohm, and more efficient than past versions of Kappas, so they will play music, and it will sound good. Kappas aren't designed for "good" though, they are designed for "great", and to get them to sound great you'll need more power. At least as much as in an aftermarket stereo, but preferably a separate amplifier.
You might be fine with factory if the Kappas are small, like 3-1/2" or 4", but anything bigger, get an amp.
I love these speakers and recommend them to anyone who wants very bright detailed highs... their mid bass production isn't the greastest though... I'm throwing over 70watts rms from a pdx-4.100 and I have NEVER heard any of my kappas distort
Yeah they are nice looking but If you are thinking about buying an Infinity Kappa component speaker system, DON'T! The tweeters just suck! They design is just bad (huge, lack of discretion, not elegant and very very complicate to instal), and also they burn out just by using a decent volume.
Guys....keep in mind that theyy do require a good subwoofer.....the do not have good bass.....and this because of their cone material....I have them.....I like them....
They are great for vocals...they are NOT good for bass......They require a good subwoofer like the new infinity kappa....i have them...if someone wants to ask me something about them just pm me.....I have the 60.9 cs and they are 3.6 ohms.....
Technically speaking, you are correct, when the impedance shown to the amp drops, THD increases, along with the power. In practice however, the impedance is not dropping enough to increase the distortion enough to consider it worse sound.
Most would agree that a 2-ohm speaker "sounds better" than an equivalent 4-ohm speaker. The extra power you get out of the amp outweighs the increased distortion.
That's why they are so highly rated by our customers.
LOLLL , more power = better sound !!! are you kidding !!.. your car radio is made for 4ohm and if you hook up to a amp 2ohm means less damping means less quality ... actualy these speaker does sound okay but nothing impressing ...
Vehicle manufacturers do not use the same Infinity speakers that infinity makes for the general public.
They know that most of us demand much higher quality speakers, and are willing to pay a little more for a speaker that sounds amazing, and will last a long time.
If you are looking to replace your factory speakers, call us. Our Advisors can help you figure out which speakers are perfect for you, Infinity or not.
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your question.
Infinity does not provide a measurement on the size of the voice coil. Some info they provide we put on our website, and the rest we can give you if you call.
Typically the size of the voice coil is provided on subwoofers, but not full range and component speakers.
Heres your answer- FRICKEN HUGE! There not quite as bad as older infinitys, but they're probably still the biggest you've seen since the jackhammer hahaha.
I'm using the Kappa perfect components in the front and the 62.9i's(one's on the right) in the back and a 600-watt kappa sub in the back. Using a 440 watt 4-channel infinity amp and 600 watt mono amp. Bought it all through the infinity accommodations program, dirt cheap.
It's a great set for people that want clarity over pure power, which it also does not lack. If you can find a really good deal on them, the kappa perfects are really great speakers.
Quite a bit, I was surprised at how much mid and low-range the components had. Keep in mind that the components and the 6 1/2s each have their own really powerful woofer. With the sub turned off you can still get enough bass to make your chair shake, I'm very pleased with it, hope to post a vid and review shortly.
@coddsac65 not really.... i bought the kappa series 6.5. and i was really dissapointed at the bass and i sent them back. they costed $90 i went to a brand called PowerBass. and they are amazing and they only cost $50
@45123 i know this... but if you dont want to buy subwoofers but you still want some deep bass.... dont go with these speakers. dont get me wrong, they have excelent highs/mids. but no low bass. which my 6.5 can produce a lot of low bass frequencys for being a 6.5
@coddsac65 i own the 2 way 6x9 and im running a kenwood kdc hd548u and the speakers have so much bass not amped it is crazy i have been doing car audio for about 5 years and they are by far the best out there other than focal........the bass is so defined and so clear and crisp it will be the best 140-200 you will spend
i have the same amp as you for my indoors but wanted to know what your opinon is on the kappa perfect 6.1? I really want them and currently have the 6.5 component reference in the front. On a scale from 1 to 10 what would you rate the perfects in terms of sound quality and mid bass?

@TexasStrat "They are just too chinese talking about manufacturing quality". That's what the guy said when he fixed one of my infinity kappa tweeters for the second time (And I have no more than 6 months with them). YES, they have some kick-ass audio quality and no distortion but they keep breaking down constantly.
