I was wondering when texting is there a way to turn off the letters from popping up? That seems annoying, and i thought so when texting with the iphone, and mytouch.
Its nice but i have to give it to the pre. The pre is flashy and simply amazing. the hardware looks good but idk the OS just seems blah. i know with all those cool widgets you'd think i"d be great but idk its not appealing to me Palm pre and webos is the one for me
I don't konw about yours, but mobiletechreview's hero unboxing shows that it has "with google" written on the back. I've seen that some hero's are sporting "with google" and some are not, so the question is, is this a google expirience phone or is it not? I'd imagine not because it runs sense, but then why would these hero's have "with google" on the battery cover if they werent? also can you save apps to the sd card? cause 512 mb of storage for apps is kinda very low..IMO
will this sync and push your yahoo mail? And what about synching with a mac? If it does these two things, im finally saying good by to Palm aka "cant get right"
i hate the design of the pre, and they took away one of the best things they had going on palm phones a great keyboard. OS was great but the design made me return it and i know about the pixi but no wifi and another crammed keyboard no thanks.
You can set your Yahoo mail up as a separate account (POP/IMAP), but Android won't do push Yahoo mail unfortunately, but I do not believe Yahoo offers this service. Google implemented push Gmail services so naturally, you get push Gmail on your Android device. If Yahoo implements this technology on their back-end, it could potentially be used on Android, but that's on Yahoo...
Well, there were complaints of the Hero being a bit laggy when it was first released, but HTC issued a software update that has since fixed the probs and now it is FAST. Sprint's version of the Hero has the software update and is silky smooth.
I have at&t and i hope my parents will switch to sprint because the iphone UI has gotten really old, IMO... i have an ipod touch and it is just dull and the Sense UI is SOOOOO NICE :D
Can you review the audio quality over the speaker and 3.5mm jack and compare it to another device?
Also, I will like to see the video playback with a good quality video or a podcast (msnbc nightly new). I just want to know if the video's are going to be choppy.
I'm trying to determine if it's worth switching to this device from a Touch Pro. Thx
I will be sure to show both audio and video quality in the review. The speaker on the Hero is VERY good IMO! Video playback has been smooth for me on youtube vids, and SprintTV
Thanks, I have been testing Mytouch 3G at T-Mobile & youtube seems to ghost on the screen in high resolution. I hope the Hero has as good as playback as the ipod touch or Touch Pro.
Is is possible to have two Exchange accounts (would like to have push email for both Gmail and my school's Exchange server) or have an exchange account along with Gmail push support? What Exchange features does the Hero support (contacts, tasks, etc)?
Yup Quezziam is right, it has threaded SMS by default, and it's pretty nice. It's a bit different than the stock Android Messages app, as it is specific to HTC Sense. Is is part of the contact integration, so when you click on one of your contacts, you can see every form of contact you've had with the person in one place - Call log, SMS, E-mail, Facebook, Twitter etc. It's really nice. But like Quezziam said, there are plenty of 3rd party messaging apps in the Market.
It actually is a pretty nice sound I was surprised. It's not too loud or overbearing - a really nice balance if you're going to keep the sound feedback on all the time.
leakdroid can you please tell me if it has audioble sounds you can turn on when typing like the google androids have also on screen taps? or does htc only have haptic feedback.
Yes it does. The Hero keyboard has a setting called "Sound feedback: Turn on typing sound". I turned it on and it sounds pretty cool.. typewriter-ish but better. So haptic feedback and sound feedback!
I don't think you'll be disappointed with this device at all. I hear the "I need a physical keyboard" complaint that a lot of people have but it sounds like you know what you're getting into :)
I myself felt this way but after using the HTC keyboard with my big hands on the myTouch, and then on the actual Hero (even better experience on the Hero), I'm sold.
I don't believe you can pre-order online, I think it is in-store-only for now, but this may change.
I was in my local Best Buy on Wed or Thurs, and they had a stack of Hero pre-order sheets at the Best Buy Mobile counter for everyone to see. They were photocopies, but at least they were visible to customers, and I saw a few people inquire about it. Best Buy is asking a $50 deposit for your Hero pre-order, so you may want to jump on that if you are worried about availability in your area.
Ooooooooooo a hulu app, that'd be awesome. Dude 10 out of 10 on the review in my opinion, you kept it moving, clear and concise, and did a good job of pointing out and demonstrating the features of the phone. I thought your description of Sense was right on.
The default messaging app does not appear to have this option :( You may want to check out ChompSMS or Handcent in the Market, they may have SMS sigs.
The crosshairs on the notification bar indicates that your "Location" setting is ON. This is a feature of many CDMA networks (Sprint, Verizon) and phones here in the States.
It uses your "Network Location" (they triangulate your position based on the closest cell tower), in addition to GPS. Network location is a bit less accurate, but handy for when you can't get a GPS lock when inside or don't have a clear line of sight to the sky.
Hi! The Hero's browser has Flash capabilities built in, however it is a "lite" version of Flash, so some videos do not play correctly depending on their format. Unfortunately, it appears that Hulu is one of these, and does not work as of now.
We do hear that Hulu is working on an Android app though, so look out for this functionality soon. Glad you liked the vid, check out our site for a full review of the Hero coming soon!

It's funny how many people say that this phone is sluggish but all the videos show that the phone works pretty fast.

Original hero has same location..., sure you probably know this already, but just no crosshairs.

Hero is great. I love it. Fun to use, smoother with new ROM. It a very social device thats shy of pictures. Which it has it though.
But lately, i find myself guessing if the N900 will better sooth me...
Do you think it worth the switchto N900?
