Actually, the thing that looks like it's blocking the soundhole is doing just that, though it's not a mute per se; it prevents the enormous stage volume from feeding back through the internal microphone/pickup inside the guitar. Sitting around the living room, you wouldn't really need it...unless it's late;-) Your local music store carries them.
