  • On his death bed Vespasian was purported to have sardonically said "Vae, puto, deus fio" or "My word, I think I must becoming a God!".

    Vespasian was known for his sardonic wit. He knew the precident of deification of the previous emperors.

    It was his patronage that led to the construction of the flavian amphitheater, (aka coleseum). It was completed by his sons Titus and Domitian.

    Nice reconstruction, Vespasian will appreciate it!
