Axl can fly, but X can glide longer. The only thing different about the two is Axl can copy. But that function is quite crap, he can't turn back until he runs out of energy, and you can only copy those your size, plus you don't really need it unless you're looking for reploids. Just don't use Axl, oy..

Megaman X6 killed my interest for the X series, because it really wasn't that good. My interest started dying when I came across X5, It was just an okay game. Plus, There were other PS2 games that were more fun to play (unlike when the Megaman X series was on the PS1). When I came across this game, I was hoping that it would at least be interesting, but it was rather lame. After it, I was pretty much done with the Megaman X series, and Megaman in general (but Megaman 9 was cool).
My biggest complaint... Was X. The guy is such a big fucking pussy in the game that it makes me wonder why they named it X7 if you have to unlock the main character after you've basically completed half of the game! It's pure bull shit! The gameplay is incredibly flawed, I cant directly hit an enemy at all without missing by a pixel. Zero's okay, but you have to get close to your enemies and since I'm mostly swarmed by them in some parts, I die instantly because I'm getting gang banged!
My only big complaints about X7 was Axl being too much like a teenager (complete with typical teenage problems and voice, thank God they fixed that in CM and X8), X's WAY overdone pacifism, the difficulty of getting some of the Reploids in the stages, and Axl being so similar to X (another thing they fixed beautifully in X8).
I think it was the mechanics of the game that really drew people away from Mega Man X7. It would have been a lot better if they did it the way they did X8. Although I liked this game, I thought the difficulty was too great at some points. Those castle battles were a pain in the neck.

X7 was the Mega Man team's first foray into 3-D. They tried some things, experimented, something worked and some didn't. You can't really "blame" them for anything.

Zero's voice is too deep, Axl sounds like a little boy, and X sounds like an old man. Terrible. At least they fixed it in X8, and Command Mission. This is why I mostly prefer the JP voices, cause may English Dubbing voices are FAIL.
I love how people hate it when a series tries to do something new (stepping into 3-D in this case) and then also complain about how a series doesn't do anything new. Why shouldn't the X series have done 3-D? Is there a law stating only the Legends series can do it? Are we all that afraid of change?
@jopet92 It does, and I'm not bashing on it, but "Because the other games were this so this game should also be this" is a stupid reason to hate something. I also don't recall anyone complaining about Mario going 3-D, but according to the fans apparently Mario is the only franchise allowed to do more than just run to the right and kill things.

I don't know about you guys but I pretty much enjoyed x7, sure it's not best but it's not the worst either, yes some of the stages designed terribly and zero is pretty much useless 90% of the game and it's a very short game(especially the last stages, they're disappointing) but other than that I've enjoyed it

And i also heard that they're trying to end the Resident Evil games i don't know whether they really are trying to get rid of Resident Evil or not but if they do Capcom will be worthless to me without Resident Evil or Megaman.
@omnimon64 I'm not much of an SF fan anymore, really the only ties i have with Capcom is Megaman, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry. The latter of which i want the rights to go to Platinum games so Hideki Kamiya can be the producer once again. Sucks though i really want a Megaman X9 and Legends 3

I like all MMX games, and I do agree this is definitely not the strongest in the series. Given all of its flaws, it was Capcom's first attempt at a Megaman X game that didn't strictly adhere to their previous sidescrollers--"3D" animation, voice acting, (I love Zero's voice, btw) a new character, and a new story element that is the Copy Chip.
Bad things: I can't stand X's voice, and I find it imbecilic that the American version took the cigar out of the old guy's mouth in the intro sequence.

Actually, the Zero series completely ignores the existence of X7 and X8, not to mention that the X series was supposed to end with X5.
Meanwhile, Zero's ending in X6 makes no sense in context to MMZ seeing the things you learn in the series.
Doesn't really matter tho, story isn't what you play a Megaman game for and their timeline is full of holes and inconsistencies anyway.

And i also heard that they're trying to end the Resident Evil games i don't know whether they really are trying to get rid of Resident Evil or not but if they do Capcom will be worthless to me without Resident Evil or Megaman.

@omnimon64 I'm not much of an SF fan anymore, really the only ties i have with Capcom is Megaman, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry. The latter of which i want the rights to go to Platinum games so Hideki Kamiya can be the producer once again. Sucks though i really want a Megaman X9 and Legends 3

I like all MMX games, and I do agree this is definitely not the strongest in the series. Given all of its flaws, it was Capcom's first attempt at a Megaman X game that didn't strictly adhere to their previous sidescrollers--"3D" animation, voice acting, (I love Zero's voice, btw) a new character, and a new story element that is the Copy Chip.
Bad things: I can't stand X's voice, and I find it imbecilic that the American version took the cigar out of the old guy's mouth in the intro sequence.
